By Land or Sea to an 800 Year Old Pub | Cornish Living
We ride off to an 800 year old pub with a fascinating history. Tucked away next to a creek, it’s reachable by both land and sea.

They made a movie “ called Mutiny on the Bounty “ the ship ended up on Pitcairn island were 9 or the 10 remaining mutineers died or were killed by each other or the Polynesians that they picked up on an island ( along with some women) only one ☝️ remained with children and others . Anyway they were Pardoned by the Queen and settled on Norkfork island ( some stayed on Pitcairn ) and the descendants remain to this day . A friend of mine that lives on Norfolk Island is a descent of the Bounty Mutineers.
Ahhhhhh that’s the connection! I watched a documentary on Pitcairn, but couldn’t quite connect the dots. Thanks for this🙌🏻
@@FreddieDobbsFreddie, interesting fact, both Captain Bligh ( deposed Captain of The Bounty,) and Lt Fletcher Christian (who led the mutineers,') were closely connected to my home, The Isle of Man. Bligh married a Manx girl, and Fletcher Christian was born on the Island- I actually went to school with one of his descendants. Cheers, Al.
Yes! Also enjoyed the Ant Middleton series Mutiny where they try and recreate the same trip. Pretty insightful into the hardships Bligh and his men went through.
I am glad you mentioned the movie 🎥 that was made about this. I think it has been made three times as a movie 🎥. I once spoke to a Captain Bligh who must of been the great great great grandson of the Captain on the bounty
They are all pedos on that island too mate
Freddie you were made to be on television an absolute pleasure to watch as always. Keep up the great work.
I was trying to think up what it is that draws me to watching the content on this channel... it's like BBC on an early evening!
Freddie, your videos always make the world seem a better place ,thank you .👍
Yes I agree.A sort of innocence about him and Monika, very relaxing
Freddie, you know how to treat a guy on a Sunday morning. Getting a tea and watching this in a bit!
I hope you enjoy it, Alec!
Same here, watching it with tea and toast 👍
Knows how to treat a guy on a Sunday morning 😂😂😂
Wholeheartedly agree - albeit with a morning coffee over here in Chicago!
Good idea! Hitting pause.
Freddy, you and Monica are such gems! My wife and I took the kids hiking to an old decomposed train Wharf on the Puget Sound with beautiful spring weather. Got home a storm blew in, and then I got to relive that beautiful coastline watching this.
im a new rider at 58 only on a 125 started listening to your podcast for tips but have found so much more your passion and appreciation of things is inspiring keep up the good work freddie and thank you.
Freddie you are a national treasure my friend. (great filming Monica)
Got my Fat Bob last week and so look forward to cruising with it. Thanks for your great videos
Freddie, I can't tell you how much I admire seeing your videos. Each and every video of yours is a treat for us. I don't think there is a channel like this (it is a whole package, a biker's video disguised as a Travel-History channel or vice-versa). Astounding to say the least! Cornwall is so picture-perfect beautiful! These videos make me want to return to the UK. What I really like about the UK is that there is always this sense of being in a time warp and inside History. It's exactly how we outsiders imagine Britain to be through books and stories. As you were leaning on the gate to talk about how the roads are still underdeveloped and the houses on the other side of the creek, there was a sign showing "Still Missing..." Of course, there is also that incredible humour to match for! "Marriages performed by the captain are only valid for the duration of the voyage!" I think probably the reason the green bungalow is abandoned is that it is haunted. Cornwall seems like the perfect place to write stories and poems. Keep up the incredible work. I hope in one of your podcasts, you'd be kind of enough to share how you film such videos. These are proper documentary type films. Who shoots these videos and how... I mean you are not just showing the front view as you ride your motorcycle but also the side view, rear, etc of you in action? By now, I know Monica has a huge role to play in this (kudos to her) but even then in some shots, it is hard to believe that someone travelling with you is shooting like this (unless it is a TV or Film Crew). You need not reveal it if this is trade secret but I am into filmmaking, music, etc (another reason why I find your videos so captivating... it started with Goa just last month) and hence the curiosity. I totally understand why you have such dedicated viewers. It's thoroughly well deserved. Best wishes. 🌟
Freddie Dobbs exploring coves in a boat ! I’ll call the RNLI now
My thoughts exactly!
Probably for the best😆
We’ve been to the Pandora Inn many times, it is indeed a beautiful part of the country, on a fine day a boat trip up the Carrick roads and you could be anywhere in the world.
I don't even ride a bike but I love your videos, Freddie. They always make me want to hop in my car and go explore, grab a coffee and enjoy the (rare) beautiful days we have here!
I like the “Judith Chalmers rides with Freddy” vids. Keep doing what you’re doing Freddy 😂
Thanks Jane😆
Monica will have to be the younger Judith Chalmers ...... 👌
No I enjoy both why do we ride our bikes to go places Freddie inspires us
Freddy…. I’ve had so many bikes many years …. Your videos remind me of all that I still love about 2 wheels…. Perfect inspirational viewing
Freddie, your simply the best and your detailed descriptions bring the best out of every place you discover. What an idyllic place to be especially when the sun is shining.
The walks to the Pandora are incredible must be the wealthiest area of the country. I sail there and my god😮😮😮. Came in by boat for a snack. And drink, tied up on jetty, tide went out in less than an hour, so me and good friend spent 12 hrs there😮😮😮😮 bad 😂
At 6’4”, I’m getting lumps on my head just looking at the inside of that pub!
Hey Freddie, I'm an avid motorbike rider myself but also really enjoy owning a small 14' aluminium motor boat (colloquially called a "tinny") here in Port Stephens on the New South Wales coast, Australia. If you ever live somewhere that it makes sense for you to own a small boat I'd really highly recommend it. The exploration you can do into little coves, rivers, creeks is so much fun - a great sense of adventure whilst being in the beautiful outdoors. I've spent all day on the water today with my dog and two friends having an awesome time. The sense of adventure reminds me a lot of what I enjoy about poking around off-the-beaten -track areas on my motorbike.
As a kid i loved the story of "The Bounty". Incredible, that you are at the pub that Capt William Blight owned.....unbelievable!!! It is also so beautiful inside. What a treat!! i think you and Monica should try to see if you can purchase that abandoned property.
such a good story teller you are Freddie, also Monica you are doing very justice with the camera.
Finding Solace, The feeling of freedom and wellbeing towards health issues are strongly linked to motorcycle riding, more of it Please.
A very valid point indeed. - well done sir.
On the locked-in days, you spark adventure in the heart my lad! There's no end to the calm and wonder these moments in time bring, Freddie - absolutely glorious!
Way back in 1978 (18 at the time), I was lucky enough to spend a couple of weeks with my trusty Suzuki GT185 at a family friends house across the water at Point. Travelled down by train from Paddington to Truro with the bike tucked away in the mail carriage. Unusually glorious weather for the duration, I spent nearly every day touring around the north & south coast. Haven't been to Cornwall for about 10 years now, as barring this trip I was always caught out by bad weather.
Small bikes are perfect for Cornwall’s tiny lanes👌🏻👌🏻 We’ve found that even in the height of summer the weather is crazily changeable here
What a beautiful pub and a stunning location! Great video Freddie 👌🏻
Sunshine, Freddie. Congratulations 😀👍
Always amazed at your choice of music to complement these wonderful videos of yours.....!
Wish I could get on my bike right now.recovering from a ruptured spleen. Your video is willing this sixty year old to jump on his bike as soon as he has the strength to ride it
What a beautiful area of the UK….. thanks for taking us along!!!
The cornish Coast ist ist one of the most beautiful and spectacular places I've ever been to! Watching your video makes me feel so homesick that I imediatedly want to change my holiday plans...
While you’re down that way check out the B3306 road St Ives to Lands End coast road. One of the best roads to ride in the UK in my opinion. Absolutely stunning. Make sure it’s sunny.
Spent my childhood summers in Cornwall. The best carefree memories. Nowhere better in the summer.
Did it rain a lot? Is that why Freddie made that comment about the rain
@HarryNoze was mostly sunny, in August. But there was still plenty to enjoy even when the weather was rain.
Great video my friend ❤ one of my favourite KZhead channels ❤ keep up the excellent work my friend 😊
Fantastic video Freddie. I'm glad you could enjoy this glorious weather. I've traveled myself width and breadth of entire UK. You happen to be not far from most beautiful place in England I've ever been to. Please visit Clovelly Village in north Devon on your way back.
I love your travel and country journals a lot! You have that special genes somehow to make your stories really fun watching. I think your niche is going to special places with your bike and show the beauty of the country 👍👍👍
You certainly hit the sweet spot on your timings Freddy - try going to the Pandora in mid summer - you cannot get near the place, you are completely right about the houses down there 90% are Holiday homes and all in access of £1million - enjoy the rest of your stay you have definitely lucked out with the weather 😎
I love Cornwall. My father was was fleet air arm and stationed at Coldrose in the mid 60's and we lived in Helston which was nearby.. My grandmother was from the small town of Carleen so at least some Cornish blood flows through the veins. It was a great place to be a kid and I have many fond memories. I left Helston in 1966 to attend the Royal Hospital School in Suffolk which you have driven past and commented on Freddie... Great work as always.
Oh wow, what a coincidence that I’m within a few miles of both spots!
Love the scenery, definitely love the sea, my happy place, thanks 😊
such a lovely video,so soothing and peaceful🤩
What amazing places you always show us. Thanks.😊
Love eating at the Pandora Inn in weather like we’re having this weekend, it’s a beautiful spot… you chose the right time to come down to glorious Cornwall Freddie 😎
It’s a stunning spot👌🏻👌🏻 I didn’t expect it to be this good☀️
beautiful landscape!
Thanks for bringing us along for the ride, such a beautiful place.
Beautiful soothing sound!
Cracking part of the world, especially when the sun's out, nice one Freddie 👍👍
Beautiful scenery, love it.!
Again, sunday morning with a Freddie breakfast video. Thank you!
You are such a talanted storyteller. Congratulations to you both for such a refreshing content. Amazing, every time. All the best from Argentina!
Such a beautiful part of the country. You and Monika do a wonderful job with the production of these videos.
Amazing Vlog - so interesting and beautiful scenery❤
Really enjoyed this. Thank you so much.
beautiful countryside, pub and the fascinating pandora story.
Always a treat on Sunday mornings! Thank you Freddie and Monika!
Fabulous spot, Cornwall has some real gems to discover. Happy travels
Beautiful weather down there and some stunning property. I do love a pub with history and it wouldn't be the same without a bit of a history lesson from you after a ride through the country side, great video.
Absolutely glorious, so much history, made my own pie and chips to join in, wasn't the same but it will have to do.
So nice episode Iam completely enjoyed thanks to Freddie
Loved the video Freddie, and Cornwall, wow what a stunning place, you lucky lucky man
As ever superb video . A trip down memory lane for me .as I was brought up In mylor Bridge and regularly went to the Pandora Inn. Now live on west coast of Scotland still biking .
Welcome back to Cornwall, Freddie! The Pandora was a good shout. Great video as ever. I hope you both have a great stay, the good weather continues, for all our sakes!
Brilliant and relaxing video again. 👍🏻
Freddie, what a stunning place 👍👍👍
Nice one Freddie, stunning part of Cornwall, thoroughly enjoy watching you ride to places in that beautiful county 👍
Mutiny on the Bounty, brilliant old film.Really worth watching.
Perfect content! Interesting places!
Beautiful spot, will check it out next time I'm down there.
Cornwall is lovely Freddie, shame it get so busy! .....Rumour has it that ole abandoned house you saw, with the green door, was owned by Shakin' Stevens' ....bloke in the Pandora told me 😅
Love this part of Cornwall. We have had a meal nearby at Mylor a few times but will try your recommended pub next time.
Absolutely beautiful footage here. I gotta visit one day.
Love your videos Freddie. Keep up the good work mate 👍🏼
Thanks Jim🙌🏻
Lovely vid Freddie 👍🏼 nice mix of bikes, views and history
Beautiful bike and beautiful video!
Great video!, I used to go to the Pandora years ago, but haven't been back for a long time,I never knew the connection with the mutiny on the Bounty, thanks Freddie!
Love your Cornwall updates
Fantastic loving this adventure Freddie & Monika. Brings back some fabulous memories, Thank You. Knowing your schedule is pretty full up however if you can add a couple of days. Travel up through Land's End there's an airport near Sennan Cove & a light aircraft ride awaits with fantastic low flying views over St Ives, we did it for £90 for 2. Then head to Clovelly, we parked 20 metres from the sea & stayed overnight in the hotel right next to our bikes. It is Awesome. Then if you can travel up to Lynton & Lynmouth ... fantastic .... Then the best 20 miles of biking roads in our fabulous islands awaits, it is the coastal road between Lynton & Lynmouth to Minehead ... Pure Motorcycle perfection. On the way you will ride down Porlock Hill the steepest hill in GB. Enjoy 🌟🌟🧡
Thank you so much, I’ve saved this🙌🏻🙌🏻
@@FreddieDobbsPs, Freddie & Monika there's loads of other places to visit on that route too 👍
The handbrake cable snapped on my Mk2 XR2 going up Porlock Hill waaaay back in 1997, when I had to stop suddenly and attempt a hill start. I'm surprised the clutch didn't burn out as well to be honest. Looking back it is quite funny, but at the time it wasn't! 😂😂😂
Greetings Freddie, another great video. Only complaint is that NY Yankees cap. Time to replace that with a Boston Red Sox cap and join my wife and I on a tour around Cape Cod/New England.
What a quiet sounding harley
Freddie you never disappoint am sure the pair of you must put lot of hard work behind the scenes to get the quality you achieve
Beautiful vlog.
Would love to visit this pub once and always. 😊
Cornwall looks lovely! Sold!
That was a lovely pub!
Loved Cornwall Lived in St Ives for a few years in my parents hotel, worked on beach renting deckchairs, fabulous memories
Myself, family and friends regard this as the best pub in the world. Luckily and if I am honest quite smuggly, I work just around the corner. I might even jump on the RE Meteor and go for lunch now.
Nice one Freddie and Monika......
Fantastic pub
Awesome!!!
that meal looked Very yummy, oh that place just beautiful.
Same feeling the first time I saw my Victory in someone's garage. Same feelung I still get now!
Your comment about the weather is so accurate. I reckon I have been to Cornwall (Kernow) over 20 times over the years, never during the winter, and I can honestly say it has rained every time...
The weather is usually appalling, I cannot believe our luck how good it’s been so far!
Konown as liquid sunshine
Another good one Freddie.
The choice of music 🎶 is outrageously good 👍 great video, beautiful part of the world. Pandora, wonderful story.
Thanks from Monika!🙋🏻♀️🎶
My father is Cornish and we lived there when I was a kid, it is a beautiful place and well worth exploring! Good one Freddy 👍😀👏🏍
What a place to grow up- I’ve never seen anywhere better in the UK. It’s a dream👌🏻
@@FreddieDobbs You need to explore Pembrokeshire 😀
The Bounty, it became a movie starring Anthony Hopkins, Mel Gibson, Daniel Day Lewis , Liam Neeson etc.
Should of explored that bungalow would of been nice to see what you found Freddie 👍🏻
Monica is very professional with the videos very good 👍
wow that bikes sick !
I’m staying close by for a week in June and had bookmarked this place already!
Aaaaah it’s paradise, you’ll love it!!
we went there on our bikes last september , and we expected to pay a premium for being in a famous place ,, BUT we were surprised to find it was the cheapest place we had been in ,, it is great to say something is good value rather than have to moan about prices , hope you and others find it the same ;;
Freddie, you’ve got the sparkle back in your eyes, you looked like you were gonna snuff it on your India videos. What a glorious place Cornwall is ! 🙂✌🏻
I do always look ill when the temperate goes past 30 degrees😆
Lovely vid Freddie boy!
