When your transmission sounds like a supercharger, you know you’re cookin’ up the rear rubbers with some real raw radness.
Definitely the coolest trans around
Probably can't brake strait cut gears, it's like a tractor.

This kid has literally built my dream car. Clean. Simple. Not over built. Not under built. Hauls a**. Reliable parts and just a really quality build. Congratualtion

One of the toughest Camaro builds I've ever seen. That was unreal.
Wonder how it will do against the upcoming Dodge Daytona Banshee?
That has got to be the best sounding Camaro. The sound of the gears whining. The rpms of the motor. Good job with the build. So awesome. No turbos. No nitrous. Just brute power. Chevrolet all the way.
@W M how old are you??? What three. ??
After viewing and hearing mello crisp V8 I decided to keep my silver 1980 Monte Carlo, put in an OD 700R4 and 355 w/4.11. Cruising 70+ mph on I-95 sounds and feels ahhhh. Now for the handling and stopping. Errr
@@ckelly9747 that’s a great power combo. I used to drive my 78 Chevy pick to work a lot. Small block 60 over. 2.02 heads. 11:1 trw pistons steel crank. Roller rockers. Pete Jackson gear drive. Msd 6al. Hei distributor. Headman headers 400 turbo tranny. It was a short wheel base 4x4 with a great exhaust system. I used to get close to the concrete barrier walls along75south and listen to that small block. around 3500 to 4500 I was rolling along pretty good. Making all kinds of good noise and the tires were 33 12:50s I still have the truck today. Used to put a little extra in the fuel to help it out. But that sound. Yeah.
Yeah sometimes. Just like the sound
That engine sounds like it could hit 9,000 rpms without any issue. It's barely getting started. It just wants to rev until oblivion. Holy crap that thing is vicious.
Imagine being the kid who's dad builds cars for the fast an furious movies ... talk about being the cool kid on the block lol
I wanna be that guys friend
Yep
Too bad the fast n furious cars were slow in real life
I have a 67. This kids car is inspiring
Imagine where I’d be if I had a father
Next to putting a blower on that beast is the fact that is actually sounds like a nascar on the flybys which is so unique for a streetcar, love it.
Dude tbh I’m not a nascar guy but their crate motors are just about the greatest motors ever made. Most dependable race motor. High performance, high rev, sounds great. I was totally going to stereotype and hate on the kid but he’s obviously extremely smart and did the work himself. Awesome job
Everytime he shifts, it sounds EXACTLY like the shifting from Days of Thunder. He knows his stuff and has great taste. Envious. Nicely done
its not hard to do, I do that with a muncie M22
Even as a Die-Hard Ford guy, this is one of the most amazing cars I have ever seen.
I am a Die-Hard MoPar guy from birth... But I will say, that this is probably THE Coolest and BEST Camaro build I have ever seen. I would be glad to own something like this. Not to mention...Those Straight-cut gears, sound WICKED. That is the 'crowning touch' on this car, as far as I am concerned. 🙂👍

Thet thing looks sounds and moves QUICK!
4.88 gears with 550+ V8 man that is the way to go. Brutal and not a prissy trailer queen. I had a 700R4 4.56 3400 conv. It was vicious out the gate.
That is a mean enough Camaro for Dom Terreto tastes in Fast n Furious 10...just saying that tranny, revs, gears, brutal sound is where GM once shined then imports and boost took the helm..

I thought you said absolute “muscle” to my ears lol
Yeah that dog box trans is awesome
Pretty sure you’d be wanting something a lot different than 10 songs on a deserted island.

I luv that trans. Not only does it sound the part but the ability to flat change adds even more character to an already superb engine. Well done Dennis!
Everything on here is just perfect
I've never seen anything like it! It feels extremely light and strong.
I am all about a car that’s not too much and still made with thought, intent, and fucking love. It’s not a piece of cake to drive, you have to know it, but it’s so well made that it’s perfect.
There’s nothing like the sound of an American V8
"a high revving" american v8
Except for a Canadian v8 , Windsor, Sarnia, Oakville, Oshawa, Camaro,Challenger, Charger , made in Canada too
Nothing beats american muscle 🇺🇸💪
Look up the video of a guy who made a homeade V8 engine powered motorcycle, he machined the engine from scratch (not Millyard) but some random guy. He has this tiny V8 engine he made on his tiny bicycle/moped, and it sounds like an American V8, it sounds SOOOOOO good. Nothing is better sounding than an American pushrod V8.

BADASS!! Have a 69 Camaro Yenko clone I put in storage but your video has inspired me to pull her out for awhile to tear up the streets, Thanks again, BEAUTIFUL 68!!
Man, got goosebumps listening to that baby going through the gears... : ))
The way the Manufacturers should've built them in the first place.
$3100 for a New V8 68 Camaro. These mods would have doubled the price. If you ever owned and rodded one, some mods were sold by speed shops. Yenko and COPO Camaros were special orders track cars. Any 20 year old could buy and add parts. My Duntov, Offy 327 Chevy II was pretty swell with a 3 speed Saginaw. After I blew out the Muncies case in two places, with only 375hp. But a 9 inch Ford diff was a specialty build to fit.
Back in the day they couldn’t hardly handle them as it was that’s why so many were wrecked
@@ayebee1207 no reason you should of broken Muncie at that low hp. Mines like a rock with more no problem
If manufacturers did it this way, it would probably be too expensive and it would not meet regulation standards. Not trying to be a party pooper, I just think building your own car is more enjoyable than buying it from the dealership (in my opinion).
@@derekj.tejeda267 I definitely enjoy my own car more lol
I wanted to see this beauty at the Nascar track! That engine sound, honey to my ears. Congratulations on such a great car!
Wow!! A kick ass simple build!! Totally love the rawness of it!! Definitely a fun drive anytime!! Nice build brother!!
That whole ride felt like a father son moment. I was expecting him to say "You did good, boy".
This is so much cooler than a typical resto. No glam. All business.
Oh man. I remember being in middle Tennessee about 20 years ago. There was neighbor who had a nascar engine in his yellow nova. Thanks for bringing back the memories I lost about that sweet car
That sound is so awesome! Such a beautiful build!
Man I can almost feel the G's seating in my chair at home. That's a true badass Camaro. It looks so just another day two car, but runs like a bat out of hell. Cool Cool rod dude, I would never get rid of it. Smiles all day long.
"Dream car" is a substantial understatement.
That car is absolute perfection. Smashing gears in that thing like looks like soo much fun.
I’ve seen a few videos from autotopia this is one of the best. A hi-revving nascar inspired big block with a mean trans running 4.88 gears is a masterpiece of a car
Its a small block.
That v8 is making some of the sweetest sounds my ears have heard!
Hands down the best camaro yet. Thing is rowdy.. legit fast and furious shifting happening there.
I love this car!
Dude got money rocking such a clean camaro and a panerai on the wrist
Im 27 but one thing I can appreciate is a car like this done right and for a fact that he still when analog in the gauges and not digital is awesome and keeps the classic look too it
This Camaro sounds so damn awesome on my phone, I can only imagine how great it sounds in person. I'll take this car over a new Camaro any day.
Had it a long time. Since high school. Four years…😊 I’m hell of jealous; my high school ride was a six cylinder Mustang with no muffler. 😂 Sweet freakin’ car guys!!!
Your ride was way faster than what I had in high school. My parents said my bicycle was fast enough.
I used to have an lsa with 740 at back wheels but this thing sounds so awesome. Nothing like a NA v8 is bloody awesome
Nice to see a young man who can shift like my friends who bought and raced these cars when they were new, plus fantastic raw build with exactly the right motor and trans to make every ride memorable.
“....a high revving V8....” When he said those words, my faith in and my Hope for the youth of America was rejuvenated ...... God bless you Son
We’re out there. Young men who understand the joys of clutch pedals & throttle cables.
The anxiety fuelled adult in me see's the hole in the firewall and no headrests and wearing the harness as a lap belt with that power but the kid in me just see's so much FUN!
That motor is ridiculous. So reliable and makes great power. Nice build 👌🏻
That engine will turn 8000 rpms with that valvetrain. Keeping the rev limiter at 7000 will keep it alive longer but not let it scream. He's got enough money, turn that rev limiter up to 8000
The smile would not leave my face .. EVER
The exhaust note on this car sounds fantastic, far far better than any new car. My brother did the same thing with his 68' Firebird. Your Camaro reminds me of how sweet his car was. Dam nice car.
My ASMR at work is the sound of this engine pulling through the gears.
Of all the Camaro's you’ve featured on here this is my favorite! Super simple, traditional looking, sounds incredible, raw and just fun car.
Every time I heard him banging gears it’s just perfect! What an amazing build!
Man, this sounds so good... I really like the semi low prifile 60's tire and rim setup on this... Nicely done... 👍👍👍
i think its HILARIOUS that at 4:18 when he does the burnout it sets off that truck's alarm
That kid has a bad ass car, great video, my favorite by far, and the kid can drive, I saw your smiles shawn
The absolute coolest car I’ve seen in a long time and even cooler seeing such a young guy with such a great taste! Subtle and kinda oldskool! 👌
He’s a cool kid for sure and built this with his 2 younger brothers…we’ll shoot with them sometime soon too
Watching his smirk when he launched it is why i love cars. That unadulterated joy and excitement. I want to do this with an 86 Monte SS
Wow, this car is an 11 out of 10! Just oozing with personality!! Damn!
I agree with a high RPM v8. I had a procharged solid cam 306 in a fox body. I shifted at 7800 RPM. When I drove my corvette afterwards it was a little disappointing, fast and torquey, but nothing like the high rpm of the sbf. Awesome job on your build, it’s perfect.
Most underrated Channel on KZhead, awesome video.
Who underrated it?
There's more great sounds coming out of that thing than any radio could ever provide! Absolute mechanical mayhem at its best
I can listen to that engine rowing thru the gears all day long...and then some
And now I have heard a transmission beefier than a Rock Crusher, thank you i can die a happy man
That stance is spot on. Great to see the evolution of this Camaro. Cool car, cool owner, thanks for doing what you do Autotopia crew!
This is a proper restomod. What a beautiful car ❤
That vintage Tonawanda sticker on the valve cover is classic !
This vid showed up as a recommendation, first time KZhead actually did something right, subscribed and badass camaro!
You had it for a long time right? Yeah since my junior year in Highschool....4 or 5 years ago...🤣
could be my all time favorite set up
Beautiful car and amazing attention to detail Having owned several '60's Camaros in the past, the one thing I would change is the 4.88 gears. The steepest I ever ran was 4.11, and even that made highway driving a pain. A 3.73 gear would be a nice choice
I bet some 4.11s would hit the spot too.
@@mikewest712 The problem with 4.11 is that in top gear, you're only running 19 MPH/1000 RPM. So at 65 MPH, you're running ~3500 RPM. At that speed, the 4 barrel carb begins to dip into the secondaries. Just cruising on the highway, mileage was ~10 MPG. That's fine when you're trying to burn through a set of tires. But anytime you're just trying to get out of town, it was just annoying. That's why with a standard 4 speed, I wouldn't go lower than 3.73. However, these days you can buy 5 and even 6 speed manual transmissions with 1 or 2 gears being overdrive. That's a winning combination.
Wouldnt work with the cam he has
@@gordocarbo I listened to its start-up and idle. Its idle is not bad, nor is it stumbling running along when he's not accelerating. So I disagree. Changing gears would work, but not as well for his drag racing. When I had 4.11 gears, with similar diameter tires, it went 20 MPH / 1000 RPM. With 4.88 it will do less than 17MPH / 1000. With 3.73, it would be doing 22MPH / 1000. That is FAR more drivable. With my 4.11, the carb was already dipping into the secondaries just cruising at 60 MPH, with terrible gas mileage (no better than 10 MPG). Keeping the engine out of the secondaries when you're just trying to drive from point 'A' to 'B' is a very reasonable compromise.
Such a majestic beast, I love the sound it makes.
I actually liked this way more than I thought I would. Good job. I really dig that set up. I love the gear whine. Keep it as is!
This is what a z/28 is! High winding small block, straight cut gears in the transmission and 4.88 in the rear end! Track car all day!
Great build and great kid!
I’m a ford guy but completely respect this car and it’s owner. Wow, Great build !
We have a Roush/Yates D3 headed short track motor. I’d love to get this into a fox body mustang with one of our Jericho’s!!
Killer we’re building an R07 for my brothers 70 model truck
I have driven early mustangs on track with those Roush Cup motors, great on the track but terrible on the street, the torque doesn't come on until 6 grand but feels real good at 9,000
@@RSDX99 🤯🤯🤯🤯
Do it!!!!!!
Yep, I would love to turn my foxbody into something like this.
Aaaaaannnnddd this is the car I've been dreaming of building for years...a nascar engined street car. Nice job.
nascar is a loose term used here....compared to an actual carbureted SB2 which used the canted valve heads which held sustained rpms in excess of 8000 for a full race, this engine is the "starter" style. Still cool but can only run on race gas. Compression is up in the 13's.
@@johnwirk this is probably the closest you’d want to a legit nascar set up, idk how easy to drive that’d be. Let alone reliability
Didn’t even get through the intro clips of the car without going 😮 that thing is actually perfect, so clean, so simple. I’m in love.
I think too many guys get lost in their build thinking more is better. But in some cases less is more. What an absolute amazing, fun car. Awesome build young man
You summarized it perfectly at the end, raw and visceral. I do agree that this Camaro is well stanced, those 18’s give it a nice look with just the right amount of tire sidewall. This may not be the Camaro I would build but I respect the creation and this young humble man.
Wicked Camaro. PERFECT
I would leave my driveway like that everyday if I had this
One of the nicest Camaro builds I’ve seen in a LONG time ... sus to drive line is perfect .. I’d love to take about 6 laps at what used to be called Sears Point ... don’t know what conglomerate it’s named after now. Lol.
