    • It seemed pretty obvious to me. Peterson heard out and she knew her shot was in (but it was actually a grunt) and so in that moment she paused and was certainly going to challenge the call since it was match point but then realized that play was still going on but that hesitation caused her not to be prepared for the depth of Gauff’s lob. It’s a shame that had to happen on match point.

  • I have enjoyed Cori (Coco) for years now but it is time to work on the forehand fundamentals. i know that she has gotten better ,however, she does not hit the ball cleanly enough on that wing and her athleticism and speed is what keeps her winning, but that will change and slow as time goes on. So, she needs to become a better ball striker to have the career that she says that she wants because she does not have that fearful weapon that all the greats have had she is a confidence rider which is awesome but when technique is questionable it will be the first thing to go when under pressure (ask Dementieva's serve )

    • I concur with you there. Regardless of how this tournament ends for Coco, I think she needs (as one person said) to take time off the work on her forehand service game if she is to dominate against tougher opposition. Especially with the likes of Iga and Ostopenka as well as others. This may take her at least 8 months. Taking this amount of time would not take anything from her. It wouldn't be the end of the world for her. She's young. She has time.

    • @@allenjoseph8759 Or maybe a change of coach as well. I mean look at what happened to the william sisters' career when they moved away from being coached by their father. I mean, her father's coaching would have benefited her when she was at the Junior level, but as with all top players around the world they had to move away from family coaching, in order for them to go to the next level. This is an integral component for Coco's development as a dominant force in the game. I mean if she is wants to pattern her game after the William sisters (particularly Serena) and be a completely improved player, then her parents' involvement (particularly her father) needs to be reduced to a minimal or severed completely. The Williams sisters did it and look at how much they have achieved and changed the face of the game. So if her parents are truly concerned about her development as a player at this level, then they need to relinquish control of her career to an EXPERT coach and make him/her an integral part of her team. Her team will work around that person. I mean, she's 19 old. She's at the level where she wants to win major titles and or course slams; this is not the junior league anymore.

Any forehand or backhand she must get under the ball like naomi and serena, 1st serve must be at 8o%. She must learn when to get to the net. Any breakpoints return deep and get to the net. • @@TheMega12121 so? this is a hollow victory. You do realise she was playing a LEVEL 80 player right? how can you be happy barley winning this when your supposed to be Top 10 and cometing with Iga and the others not getting dismantled by them. Number 2 in the world DESTROYED Gauff today. It wasnt even competitive in the slightest. Thats reality not the "win" yesterday.
