In the passenger window you look sideways, so you know the real speed. Here you're looking far ahead and you sit very high up. Still that A380 is a magnificent bird. It's landing speed is impressively slow for such a huge, heavy plane.

Autoflight systems are a tool for the crew to use to fly the aircraft, not to replace them. They're not "pretending" to fly - they are flying. In addition moving the thrust levers to TO/GA is how you command the flight guidance to go to go around mode, so there's another reason to be holding the thrust levers with the AP on during approach. Felt like the landing gear was gonna come through the fuselage. I thought maybe they needed to put it down on the landing marks due to the runway being just long enough, but it seems it might have been some noobs first time landing.

i have been watching a lot of crash investigation videos lately. The number of things that a pilot can do wrong is just staggering. And on the other hand i have also been playing MS Flight sim lately. And man is it hard to control a plane in that game. and its just a bloody sim with minimal input requirements compared to real flying. It is nerve wracking to just watch these landings knowing how hard it is to control and how many things can go wrong. Bless all the pilots who land us safely.

That F.O is my Dad!! Great Landing Papa!! 💖💖💖✈️
Annabel Rose 👍🏻❤️✈️
Annabel Rose Well that’s pretty cool.
Your dad is indeed cool. My girls think I'm quite cool. I'm a Chief Engineer on cruise ships; Only because Aer Lingus failed me on colour vision. So yes, your dad is very cool. I only do what your dad does on a PC simulator. Not so cool, but I enjoy it.
Annabel Rose my dad is also an A380 Pilot but unfortunately there's no video of his landings :(
I was the captain on the flight, your dad made a good job. cheers
Can we all just agree on how great the layout of the A380's cockpit is?
I can agree with that.
It's very well arranged and everything is where it makes sense. This one of the things I dislike about Boeing.
No, we can't.
Well it's an Airbus, not that trash that Boeing calls an airplane.
@@viniciusmagnoni6492 that's a bit harsh 😬
It's crazy how slow all of this looks from this perspective, especially compared to looking out the passenger window lmao.
The lines are so long it's just impossible to look like you're going fast. If they were spaced like car lanes then it would look crazy fast.
In the passenger window you look sideways, so you know the real speed. Here you're looking far ahead and you sit very high up. Still that A380 is a magnificent bird. It's landing speed is impressively slow for such a huge, heavy plane.

They do, but to be fair, a New York City train driver during rush hour has 2,000 lives in their hands. A cruise ship Captain has 5,000 lives in their hands. Modern machines are just insanely safe we don't even think about it anymore.

At Qatar Airways all the F/O have 2 stripes until they reach 2500h or 3000h;) After 2500h or 3000h they are called senior first officers until the captainship..
Deian Deian On type or total time?
@@khairulshiddiq9728 on type at Qatar Airways;)
I believe this is Qantas and he is a second officer because first officers have 3 bars until they become captain, which is 4 bars
you tend to forget how big this plane actually is when you're in the cockpit
The actual jumbo jet
It's big but it's really just a hollow tube.
@@cocodalish what
Let's take a moment to appreciate the technology which makes it possible that such a good-loocking and heavy plane is able to fly through the sky.
The principle is pretty simple with air pressure etc, but applying that to a A380 that weighs over 200 tons I think? Now that's the hard part lol.
Always surprises me just how much a modern jet still rattles so much after landing?! Sounds like it’s falling apart!!🙂
Chris Fowler I agree. It’s very common especially on Airbus.
They don't have the same suspension systems as vehicles, the lights protrude from the surfaces of the runways and taxiways, so that's why you hear and feel the bumps more
it's not so much the plane itself but rather lose things such as sun visors, bags, drinks, the jump seat etc.
Also it is what the runway looks like.... bumpy and with some hole in it.... or lights....
Think of all the fittings inside an A380. it's basically a flying cruise ship.

@@theskiller2217 yeah ..aircraft... but its like flying a huge building. Its beyond my compréhension.
Being calm and collected is the truest sign that a pilot knows his job and what he's doing. I'd be more concerned if he were panicked! 😂
It's cool to see the whole approach, landing AND taxi to the gate from this perspective! Surprisingly the A380 seems as nimble as the smaller airliners.
I believe all the Airbus models are designed with essentially the same cockpit layout and flight characteristics, so it's a fairly easy transition from flying one type to another.
YES! And their communication regarding taxiing to the gates etc. So damn cool!!!
strange how you can just love watching these, they are so calm flying these massive machines nice vid.

I never thought of it but the amount of noise the landing gear creates with the drag is drastic. Really cool.

there is a lot of drag with those 5 gears sticking out in the 140kt (260km/h) wind.

To have progressed from the work of bicycle repairmen Wilbur & Orville Wright to a modern behemoth like an A380, the sheer complexity of layers & layers of engineering in umpteen disciplines & making it all work like clockwork at least most of the times. I wish the Wright brothers were here to find out what they essentially led us all into!
Glad the power was chopped at the right time, great anticipation regarding the rate of descent being slightly higher due to glide going down & consequently quicker than usual RA call-outs. Great video!

This looks so cool, even tho I'm too scared to learn to fly an airplane.
if you'd like to, I'd suggest going for a trial flight with an instructor at any of your closest flight centre. Almost all the ones I know are very keen and patient at showing the workings of a plane and ensuring the passengers are comfortable. Best of Luck!
Would you believe I am scared of heights but I learnt to fly 20 years ago. There's nothing wrong with having a healthy respect for flying as it's an alien environment to us who aren't born with wings attached. It's when you become complacent you drop your guard and that's the dangerous time. Take a trial lesson and you'll be surprised. Happy flying 😁

It’s the same in Ryanair, when you do your type rating and join the line you have 2 bars and then after i think 500 hours you get three bars and become a senior first officer :)
Time and again, I am amazed how you maneuver and land that aircraft with ease. Especially with such a small windshield and no rearview mirrors. You must get (all) the ladies!
WhisperJet America I actually don’t fly for a living, I’m an engineer on these things though. The auto flight computer does most of the work these days, but it isn’t has hard as it looks. @@WillLanting Why do the pilots pretend to be flying the plane holding the throttles knowing very well the flight is automated You can look at the flight display and notice the plane is flying its profile after hitting the approach button with localier capture I guess they do it to look cool and fool people who know nothing about aviation lol
Horace Smart I don’t know. I just fix them.
@@horacesmart3600 Because the crew are in ultimate control of the flightpath, should be "mentally" flying the aircraft in the terminal area, and need to be ready to take over manually if necessary. Maybe you're one of those people who doesn't know anything about aviation?
Horace Smart 😤 to this that’s all I have to say....

Very Smooth Landing
this shows something very extraordinary, really a very useful work, thank you for uploading this video guys
On returning to Melbourne last November with Emirates in an a380, I was watching the approach on my screen. It was the smoothest and calmest approach ever, until we touched down.
Start of with a smaller aircraft like an a320 before going up to things like the 747.
I personally think the Landings Of the A380 is more smooth than a Boeing 747!!! Nice work!!!
Very nice ! Watched this from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

That was Awesome! Thanks! Didn't know it gets that noisy when the Landing Gear go down at 1:56.
landing gear on a air frame of that size and speed creates incredible amounts of airflow resistance. At those speeds it can be loud, but once slowed to final approach speeds the noise reduces slightly.
