  • I wired my bird feeder up to the electrical supply from my house! Squirrel disconnected my electrical supply, took the bird feed, filled out a bunch of forms notifying the authorities of an electrical code violation and then pursued a civil case thorough the courts. Squirrel now owns my home and I live off whatever nuts I can forage form people's bird feeders. Damn squirrels. Have to go. Am using his laptop. Can hear him coming.

    • Probably not. They're designed for jumping around in trees where *everything* is moving. This is probably fairly easy for them, since the maze moves as a single unit instead of all the pieces moving independently at different rates and in different directions.

  • This was amazing to watch, I would have thought they'd nope right out of there once it started spinning but squirrels are SO adaptable. When I was a kid, I got real friendly with the squirrels in our backyard until I had them climbing up tables and chairs inside the house for peanuts. One time my mom came home from work early to see me with squirrels in the house and understandably freaked out, hahaha! (As an adult now I must urge anyone reading to never lure or bring wild animals into your house, or touch it, but as a kid I didn't know better.) Rodents are my favorite animals, though. So smart and sociable and under-appreciated!

    • I agree. The ones I feed I don't touch and other than one sitting on my shoe they don't touch me. I sit with them because there's a stray cat hunting them. I started feeding them as juveniles after same cat killed their mother. Watching them play during the day entertains me. I love that they're wild and will never do anything to try and change that. I move slow around them so as to not scare them and I keep my movements consistent.

  • I have a couple wild ones that hang out with me everyday for my sparkling personality and the walnuts I carry around. They're amazing, funny and smart littles creatures. They study my face and movement when I talk to them. I read that they do that to see if I'm a danger to them. I'm willing to bet that they enjoyed figuring out your maze. Thanks for the video.

  • I've been looking for more videos like this, thanks for continuing the interest in these cute critters. I would make an easy exit at the end for comfort and safety though. It probably gets pretty hot and stuff in there and the spinning can cause confusion. If they make it to the end, they probably deserve a quick out (: maybe even make a couple one way flaps around the maze too so they can bail if needed but can't use it as an entrance.

    @Marynicole830@Marynicole8302 жыл бұрын
    • It's a screen material with tiny little holes (as can be seen near the squirrel at 1:07, if you're on a big enough monitor to see the detail) so temperature wise, I don't think you have to worry. 2:26 As you can see the squirrel climbing on the outside screen, if you made holes at different points, it'll make it so the squirrels had shortcuts to their prize. Also, it wouldn't be as fun for us to watch them going through all the maze. :)

  • Just thought that I'd mention a PBS Special on Squirrells. The 2-hour special has a funny title. It's a science-focused study on all aspects of being a "squirrell". It's pretty interesting and they conduct a test to determine if squirrels actually remember where they hid their nuts. They do. They have an excellent memory. This should come as no surprise to you or Mark.

  • This is great but I'm sure you'll agree, you made it too easy, lol. As you said they are "ninja's", both mentally & physically. I want to see someone have a manhole cover, panel or door; that they have a certain amount of time to put back or close. If they don't they get booted of the course. I mention this because 40 years ago we were staying in a Motel in Arizona. We got robbed by a gang of squirrels. Mum was the only one that saw them. We had been out to dinner & Mum & Dad had shared a bottle of wine. On coming back into the Motel Room, the squirrels bounced off Mum & Dad's double Bed, & through the open Man Hole. The squirrels then according to Mum, put the manhole cover back in place. . I believed the story, & there was evidence that someone had gone through some food. Main reason why I believed Mum, is because I loved squirrels. Dad said he believed Mum but no one else did, not the Motel staff, or Motel owner, & I think the Police. I can't remember whether Mum had called the Police. It mainly was food that had been stolen but also a valuable Gold necklace. The Motel owner accused Mum of being drunk, pointing out that all the doors & windows were locked & the manhole cover in place. Also there's no way the squirrels could get into the roof cavity. Oh the Motel owner admitted that squirrels had taken food items before, but only when doors & windows were left open. I know now 100% Mum was telling the truth & the doubters just have no idea that they are dealing with ninja squirrels & very smart ninja squirrels. Squirrels are smart enough to put a manhole cover back, so they can keep coming in and in and in, without being suspected. So what seemed like a tall story is becoming more & more believable. This Video is 1 of 4 Videos that goes a long way towards showing how clever, intelligent these ninja squirrels are, but you guys seem to have discovered more than anyone else, we've still got a long way to go. Just how smart & how good is their ninja ability? The 4 Video are obviously this Video, Mark Rober 1.0, Mark Rober 2.0, & a squirrel robbing a vending machine. There are others, like a guy that seems to like to catapult squirrels, but they just not up to your standard.
