My favorite feature of my Pixel 4a, by far, is the call screening function. I haven't answered a single robo call in over two years... same with auto spamming texts.
Agreed
Same!
yes, love it
I wish Google would expand it to other countries. It is still not available in India and India is in dire need of these feature.
@@iamankursjain I second that! Desperately needed here
Google has to market Screen Call, Hold For Me, and Direct My Call like their life depends on it. They're features you don't think about yet are so helpful...
So true. I've used screening some, but the hold for me is so handy. I used it 3 times this month and hearing that chime after setting the phone down and keep working is so fine.
@@rggndfw I used Direct My Call yesterday 🤣. I use Screen Call weekly because of the amount of scammers 😭
Screen Call (and the ability to automatically decline spam calls without the phone even ringing) is my favorite Pixel feature and it's not even close.
Unfortunately, the direct my call and hold for me only seem to work with certain toll free numbers, which is annoying because sometimes the you need to call your utility company or some local government agency that doesn't have a toll free number and have no way to enable hold for me.
@@nsshurtz more importantly aren't available in a lot of the (very limited) countries pixels are sold in
Honestly the exclusive features and the subtlety of the pixel experience is what makes me probably use the pixel line forever more, coming from iPhones and a OnePlus neither are as pretty software wise
OnePlus ruined the android experience with android 11 and killed it with android 12. Don't know what will happen with android 13.
The always listening feature is a little creepy.. a feature that influences users to allow their mic to always be on and actively listening
@@oneheadlight8000 seems like it would waste a lot of battery as well
@@DanielPereira-ey9nt Yes.. and conveniently hidden from the battery summary menu because it's not utilizing an app. I guess it could be part of "system" battery drain.
I didn't watch the video and Idk what is in it. But I don't have to watch it to decide that the Pixel is a shitty device. I'll be blunt, the pixel's software is fucking horrible. It is so damn buggy that it feels unfinished. Camera kept crashing every other time you launched it. Sometimes when you open it, it shows a black screen for a few seconds and then actually launches. I have experienced the camera app crashing many times as well while opening an image from the camera, or showing a black screen for a couple of seconds. It is just ridiculously bad. What irritates me more, is that people glorify its software. Who the fuck wants to use a phone this buggy? If I buy it for $200 then maybe. But I tried the Pixel 6 Pro, which was selling for over $550. There are lots of other issues that fuck up the "pixel experience", or maybe this is the "pixel experience" everyone talks about? What makes this even funnier, is that I made sure I upgraded to Android 13 when I first bought it (a month ago maybe), because many reviewers and users mentioned that A13 fixed lots of the software issues. I just can't imagine how a device can be shittier than the one I used!! If with A13 it was this fucked up, imagine using it with A12!! I am baffled how anyone would buy the phone brand new for $900 and say it is good.
Some of those features are great, but can you make a video with apps from third parties that bring some of those features to non pixel phones?...
Most of the features aren't yet available to other devices even with software. Still you can install a custom rom to get these features.
To get Now playing feature on any Android. Check video of Munchy.
This, I want to see third party apps that are best optimized for the pixel experience
This is a great idea
@@rekk1403 idk how to do it
I've recently bought a 6a, absolutely love it, having wanted a Pixel for years, I waited for an in screen fingerprint reader, (when I could afford one) as I'm not a fan of rear mounted sensors. One of the thing I loved about (old) phones with Home Buttons was that you could open them without having to pick the phone up. That's possible on the 6 onward, with the "always on display!" I like the "now playing" feature, being a muso, always on the hunt for new material to play and listen to and handier than having to open an app like "Shazam," and often missing the opportunity. I like the fact that it's possible to add it as an app to the Home Screen, very convenient. it's a great tool, until (which I often am) where music is being played constantly and it "sees" everything, so much so, that I end up having to remove stuff all the time. I find the "call screening" feature really useful. Always funny when scam callers give up at the first hurdle! Sadly, the "hold for me," feature isn't available in the U.K. Pity, that'd be so handy when waiting in the queue when calling the Doctor, or various companies! 😉😉
Absolutely brilliant video - chock-a-block full of interesting info. So many of these features are new to me and I've had several Pixel phones. I am hoping you will repeat this with anything that is upgraded on the Pixel 7 when it is released.
I've had an itch to switch to pure Android for the longest time on the Samsung Galaxy lineup and I finally caved - got the Pixel 6 and have loved it ever since. The features are amazing and SO helpful, the only downside I've noticed is a little more bugs than usual. But it is overwhelmingly insurmountable to the quality that is pure Android. 💯
its unfortunately expected with a new custom made chip. Software has gotten better since release and even better since A13 has been out.
I want to do the same, but I'm going to really miss the gallery sync with OneDrive on my S22.... UGH I wish OneUI looked like stock Android. I hate how iOS like Samsung makes OneUi.
I wish that Pixels had features like Bixby Routines and Good Lock. I've gotten so much used to them because they really make a smartphone "smart".
@@quitepossiblylucky then don't buy Samsung
@@quitepossiblylucky - Are you referring to Microsoft OneDrive? If so, it seems to me I read that OneDrive can syn with a Pixel 6 and above. Perhaps all Pixels. I don't sync it myself but I am sure you can find a solution online.
Hey Sam, love your videos man! The level of details you go into is amazing. I am using Pixel 4 and I loved the design + camera. One thing I miss is the action triggers when you tap at the back of the phone, i guess it's on pixel 6 & later phones. Face blur wants me to switch to a Pixel 6 or 7 (yet to release), but the phones have become so freakishly big, that they simply take away "mobile" out of mobile phones. Plus the build quality is still better in Pixel 4 (I tried the pixel 6, seems kind of fragile) Keep making more videos, love 'em!
Excellent video Sam! The production value is top notch 👌🏼 I’d love to see one of these for Samsung devices!
I love the now playing feature on the lock screen I'm surprised there isn't a third party app to it on non pixel phones yet.
Thanks, Sam! I've been a Pixel 6 user from launch and it's been a great experience. The best feature without question is the long exposure mode in the camera. Any time I go places with my family, I'm constantly taking weird, artistic long exposures of all sorts of things. I miss it badly when I use my work iPhone. Google seems to be finally hitting its stride with the latest series of Pixels. Hanging out for the folding Pixel! Thanks again.
The long exposure and motion modes are beautiful
You can sorta take long exposure shots on the iPhone too! Just take a Live Photo and then go into Photos, open the photo, and in iOS 16 you’ll see the word “Live” and an arrow in the top left part of the screen. Click that arrow and you’ll see a mini-menu open up, with one of the options being “Long Exposure”. It doesn’t always work great but it looks good when it does.
@@mihnealazar7039 but the results are wildly different...Pixel phones just do it sooo much better
Because Of AI of Google
Love having almost all of these features on my OnePlus 5 with Pixel Experience ROM
the word is almost
@@gabmano4877 though on an almost 6 years old phone is even cooler. Android for Life 🤖

How does one being installing a custom ROM on a phone, looking to do so for redmi 9t device. Are there any advantages to doing so?
@@wambugu2101 I did on my Redmi note 10 pro and it's amazing, using the pixel os and many of these features work on it, bar (lift to wake and now playing)
Every time I see Sam's videos, I think think about how good the quality of his videos are. Definitely deserves more subs, great stuff!
You forgot to mention 'Voice Controls'. You can literally navigate through your phone with this feature by just speaking and giving continuous instructions to the assistant. And it's crazy fast and accurate. Using it frequently since i found out ...
The most impressive thing I took from this was the insane production quality of your videos. Gosh dang this video looks and sounds so good.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
True, I noticed the same thing in the start, so clean and crisp. That's some top quality.
Honestly just the different backgrounds you shot the phone is insane. Kudos for such effort
you can get all of these features if you use a highly customizable rom such as EvolutionX. there are also a ton of magisk modules for them as well.
What a great video this is. Absolutely precise and to the point. You have shared priceless information but at the same time the manner of putting across things is absolutely impeccable. Kudos 👏
Great video Sam! Software is the No. 1 reason I already come back to wanting to use a pixel. 🤞 Google does a good job with the 7 this year. (also #nohatgang)
I've had the 6 for a few weeks. This phone is amazing & battery life is amazing. Thank you for this video.
The way you made this video was so smooth to watch
The aesthetics, knowledge and production value of this video is on another level!
Thanks for the video I just got a pixel 6 and this video showed me a lot of cool features I didn't know my phone had
Hey @Sam Beckman, could you please provide a link for these wallpapers on your phone? They are so neat!
also the icon pack please. looks awesome!
Great video. I've been using Sony phones since the Ericsson's came out. With the outrageous pricing and disappointing quality of the latest Xperia's I've decided to switch but wasn't sure to what. Pixel got my attention since a few months. After seeing this I made my decision. Pixel 7 will be my next device. Thanks for the great video.
Hey Sam, great video as always. I hope you can answer me, where do you get your wallpapers from?
I'm liking my Pixel 6a and I love the *concept* that I can have it shut down when I'm not looking at it but not lock while it's on my home wifi. The execution isn't quite right yet though (Or I have messed up the combination of settings required) and I still have to enter my password (I won't use fingerprints) fairly regularly.
i live in greece, and most of those google assistant features are not even available to us [like call screen, hold for me, even google assistant doesnt still support greek language]. nevertheless am a pixel owner since the 2nd model. i can't even imagine how i would feel living the full pixel features experience. still praying :P
Ngl but the pixel has been super appealing. I’m excited to see what the pixel 7 lineup offers. The pixel’s features are definitely enticing me to make the switch from the iPhone
Do it 😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈
I'm still rocking the Pixel 4 XL and I love all these features :)
I have waited for Now Playing to come to any other manufacturer since the Pixel 2. Such a cool feature
Pixel phones are just so smooth and beautiful, would love to have one. The live caption feature is also available on my galaxy a52 with the app "Sound assistant", which can also adjust audio on a per app basis, really useful
Sound Assistant isn't needed for live captions, they are there on the regular volume panel too But yeah per app audio only on sound assistant
@@thiagohdasilva oh ok, good
amazing video mate
Keep it up fam! 🤙
I loved the video. Was checking this out to buy a pixel 7 coming on the 6th 😌
Great review....love your style. You'll be my go-to pixel guy from now on! So... what do you think of the 7 pro....enough changes between the 6 pro & 7 pro to warrant buying the new 7 vs 6? Same price....confused on which I should buy. I used primarily for photography and videos.
Me too
How can we get those big clock numbers? I'mm looking everywhere and only does every now and then but I want to keep it on all the time.
I'd love to see a video about the unique features of Samsung's One UI
Very good description 🤠
Half the features are on my OP7T with android 11, also, almost every single feature is included in android 13, so when other devices update the OS, will get almost every "exclusive" feature.
Hey, sam can you confirm if all this features are also available on Pixel 6a?
How do I get the call screening feature to work? It use to work on my pixel 4a XL but I've had this pixel 6 since launch and it's never worked. Hold for me does though
I really wish Google would pick up the tiny feature of selecting multiple apps to drag into other home pages as well as auto recognizing documents to scan and crop automatically.I tried a Samsung and miss that feature from it
Is there a way to get 1. double tap to open & lock screen on pixel? 2. 3 finger swipe shortcut for screenshot?
I am using Pixel Experience plus Android 12 Rom in my xiaomi phone and i am impressed with clean and smooth ui it has all the features of original pixel rom
Yeah I also used pixel custom rom. Experience is super smooth. But after some time it feels boring as It lacks some life easy features and custmisations that available on One UI.. That's why I Shift back to One UI. But samsung seriously need to improve animations.
@@ujwal3934 my experience with Samsung is very bad after updating Samsung phone lots of blotwere install in my phone and slow and heating issue i face thats why i am not recommend any my relatives to buy Samsung phone
Would like to know what the first things you would do on pixel 7…to get the best experience 😮 great videos 👍
Had a this phone for a year and you told me some things I didn't even know about thank you very much
omg i've had my 4a for over a year i didn't know you could do the face recognition auto rotate thing
How do you get the phone screen to look so nice and crispy as the one in the video? Or is that just editing magic?
As a pixel owner since the pixel 3 i miss the squeeze to summon google assistant function.
How can I get my clock larger and in the bottom center screen on my lock screen It's stuck in the upper right position
Some of them like live caption , pick up phone to check AOD , app pausing , quick tap , Google assistant typing available on stock android phone Motorola ( edge 40 neo which I am currently using ).
2:42 feature since last few Android version already had me held me back from switching to other device. This makes pixel ui better than pc is. 3Cam on pro is my 2nd fav... Or is it the 1st?
How can i activate the iconstyle that is shown in the introduction?
Just ordered a refurbished Pixel 6 Pro from Ebay and it should arrive in 2 days. This was a super useful video! 👍
hey sam how can we take astrophotography in pixel 7 as you known the camera allow only 5 sec to capture light
Anyone else have a Pixel 6 but dont have some of the features like dragging the image to the bottom of the screen to share with contacts and the url copying from a browser? good video btw those features are amazing
That car crash feature is insane
Love caption can also detect/identify songs in media too!
Those are some dope wallpaper
My LG V60 has the live caption function. Isn't it just a standard on android?
Hi do u NO when or if Google Pixel 7, 7Pro, or 7ultimat 1TB memory... Will b released all in Sept or October???
Hi Sam, can you provide a link for the wallpaper from 1:28?
i like the icon pack you have from the beginning of the video...
Live Caption is actually a part of AOSP and is also available on Samsung. I wonder if it's available on other OEMs as well.
Alternative to Rules is Samsung's Bixby Routines on mid-range and flasghip devices. And, the best thing about it is that it automates Mobile Hotspot as well. A very hand features for people in India. 😁
Alot of these things in this video is avaliable on Samsung devices So this video is a lot of misinformation
I own a Pixel 6 and didn't know about some features eg the text selection. Very useful on Twitter if you want to correct a long tweet. Just copy text, delete tweet, and tweet again..
I use raise to wake on the iPhone and it’s super convenient!
So interesting, thanks
0:21 Where I get these wallpapers
Does anyone know how to lock an app? I mean when you choose to clear all the recent apps, the one you locked stays open, like I want to clear all except for Spotify and Clock. With other phones it's so easy, can't find it on here! Love the phone btw!
4:51 Face detection auto rotate feature was there on my 2015 Sony Xperia E4 smartphone and worked like a charm. still does not exist on my current iphone.
Where can I get your wallpapers? I saw a bunch that I really liked!
where can I get this theme that you are using at 0:14
I got pixel 6 last week..before this I had been using Asus zenfone 5z for 4 years and I am surprised to see many of the pixel 6 features that people are finding novel have been there in the zenfone since 2018. Very handy features like Lift to check phone, put down to shh, tap to wake phone, front camera face based screen time out all were there in the zenfone that are now in the pixel 6. And I still miss important features like double tap to lock, limit the phone charging to 80%(as part of the battery care), face unlock that were there in the zenfone and not in pixel 6. And then there are some advanced features like great DTS Audio controls/equalizer/audio profile based on individual headphones/speakers, complete manual control of the cameras that were there in the zenfone and not in the Pixel. So, why have I opted this? Well, mainly because of the software, zenfone was stuck in Android 10 and also, the video capability is way better in this phone and zenfone video was no small thing(I got it for video). In fact camera is the sole factor on basis of which I buy phones, my past phones have been Sony k750i, K800i, Vivaz pro..so you can guess.
They're not new features to the 6, just nice features, it seems to be basically all manufacturers have to choose between features and software support. My old OnePlus had a tonne of good features but like you only got one update to android 10
Hey sam, can u tell me, if price & OS is not a concern, which phone does better job at photography, day to day usage, multitasking? iphone 13 pro or pixel top end phone ?
I can tell you nobody does video like iPhone. Dolby vision 🎉
Hey sam where did you get your wallpapers?
please what's the name of the music player that was on the pixel?
insightful video
Wallpaper app u used in these video??
Just ordered a pixel 7 and it should be coming this week, I am not completely replacing my iPhone but will have both side by side. Best of both worlds
I was watching the always on display part, and looked at my pixel 6a to see the animation, the time was the same, 16h31, bug in the matrix
Plz do a video for one plus’s oxygen os on rooting and features as well
I'm going to try in my Pixel Custom Rom 😼🔥 BTW Thanks For Information ♥️
Man, you are the best.
An incredible video Sam. Are these features also available in Pixel 6A or only restricted to Pixel 6?
Available on all pixel devices that can run Android 12
I have a pixel 6, best phone I've had, second best is pixel 2xl
Imo
Hey man I'm really obsessed with your icons...could you tell me how to find them?
Hi Sam , i bought my Pixel 6A last December , it's been 6 months almost and my phone just switches off on its own and when i restart it , it gets stuck on the google logo and then it switches off again .
What's the music player at 6:18 ?
Great work man, Please uncover exclusive features from Oppo's skin ColorOS!!
Well live caption is also available in Motorola devices.
Like half the features are on other devices/you can install for example tap tap for backtap or samsung devices have live captions
5:26 Live captions is actually not a pixel exclusive feature as it is also available in Samsung.... You just press the volume button then click on the three dots, later you will see an icon on the top left corner. You can tap that icon to activate live captions.
What are the icon packs or launcher used at 0:12?
Would these be available on a pixel experience custom rom for other phones?
bump because im also wondering
Can you share the link for wallpapers? PLEASE!
do the newer phones have a haptic feedback generator?
Does someone know where I can find the wallpaper shown at 3:23?
If had no idea what my phone can do. Some work is still needed. The live captions with auto-translate are mostly useless. The "text selection in recent apps" does not recognize non-latin fonts (cyrillic for instance).
i do love my new pixel 7, but after using both a samsung s10e, and also even a super cheap xiaomi phone before that, many of these pixel "exclusive" features such as live caption, the "rules" (and bixby routines are far more powerful), are available on other phones.
How can I change the screen theme without using Lawnchair? I am using Pixelexperience.
