Converting a Concrete Pipe Into an Amazing Cabin Home

Join us as we feature another talented creator that we feel deserves a little appreciation for their unique style and talent. With demands for more housing in big cities ever-growing, yet space being the issue, alternatives must arise. We love this low-cost, practical and exceptionally designed tiny-home. Built from repurposed concrete water pipes that measure a little over eight feet in diameter. Watch as he transforms a boring piece of building material, into a quirky, cosy home of his own.
We hope you enjoy this review of Amazing Cabin Home!

  • Such a gorgeous book - each shed is unique and inspiring, and I love all the tiny details Kotite features to help readers imagine how to create their own She Sheds kzhead.infoUgkxe9yi0sulKgsp0VJJCIrLWWkvVqcU7LFR . The feature on Dinah's Rustic Retreat is like something from a fairy tale. It's really inspiring to see how creative all these ordinary people are in making beautiful and useful spaces on a modest scale.

  • I enjoy the love you put in however it needs: 1. Shutters for the exposed glass (solar heat gain) 2. Penetron or Chryso painted onto the concrete (waterproofing) 3. An internal skin which will allow for insulation. You can use timber purlins and bendy-ply All easily achievable and it will help you avoid mould and put less pressure on your A/C. Also this is a lounge that you can sleep in- not a micro-living unit.

    @Dev1nci@Dev1nci2 жыл бұрын
  • Pretty amazing project! Love all the woodworking and that bamboo flooring. However.... there's no insulation around that and cement is really cold in the winter. Also, there's no running water, or toilet. And while those fish in the window are a cute idea, they're gonna freeze in the winter and the glass will break from the pressure of the water expanding so better drain that before the first freeze. This would make a nice hideaway place if you had a normal house on a fair bit of property. A really cool design and great workmanship!

They dug huge trenches, and stacked the equally huge pipes 3-high by the side. The city thanked the Americans, saying they'd finish the job themselves. Within months the holes were filled with rubbish, and all the pipes were being used as houses, complete with numbers, mailboxes, and electric lights, pirated from the local supply. Very resourceful!

    • I do have two big things to say about this house though. 1. The issue with heating it in the winter, I don't see a way to do that without central air, and yes I know they have other types of heat sources my house uses gas, but then comes the issue with ventilation. My second issue. It clearly gets cold enough for it to freeze as we sawn snow, so those fish are gonna die.

Half-buried in the ground or anchored to something buried in the ground. The shape is ideal for strength and the sheer weight of concrete is definitely a plus. Hmm, something to think about. I like trying to cover possibilities & solve practical problems in my head.
