3:47 as a high school golfer, going into my senior season, I’m really glad they release the drivers and other clubs at the beginning of the year so that I can get them in time before my golf season which starts early March. If they release them later, I would have to wait till May before I could get the new equipment, If I got fitted for it.
I love the new driver talk this time of year. When I got (back) into golf last year I had no *true* bias or preference on driver branding. I tried a few TM, Ping, and Callaway. I ended up with the Paradym and couldn't be happier with my decision since I tried all 3 and hit that the best. P.S. I was hoping to be like Rick and go with the Ping, but I just couldn't hit it as well as the Callaway.
Love to hear it!! Just got my #wilson combo set!! They are inCREDible. Love that the UK hasn’t lost the respect for such a historic golf brand.
This morning as I was watching the snow fall in southwest pennsylvania, I was thinking an RS podcast would be a welcome change. At that moment, the notification came thru. What a wonderful break in my day and a terrific update in all that is golf for 2024! Thanks so much!!!

Had my first ever fitting yesterday, tried all the new ones and ended up replacing my Titlist 983E, yes 20 year old Titlist. Liked the Ping G430 LST cant wait to get it in the news few days.
Happy to hear about you looking at Wilson irons. Just got a 2nd hand set of D9's with hybrids, and I absolutely love them. I just wish they had more adjustability with the driver, because it looks amazing like the hybrids and irons. May have to get a Ping or Cobra driver instead.

100%. They look great, and for me on trackman, Wilson'swere centered so much more consistently than other irons. Moving up from D7F to 2024 CBs in a couple weeks.
I wish he would get a professional fitting. I'm sure he can get fit for the Wilson's he wants and while there he should get fit for the Dynapwr driver as well. He was hitting the Ti version so straight in his review? But then spraying the carbon head a bit at 1700 spin but loved the feel and sound so I don't understand why he doesn't get a fitting?

Hi lads, your issue around the timing of the release of new drivers and your preference for this happening at the beiginning of your new season is bewildering and insular in your thinking. Us golfers living in the southern hemisphere luckily do not have a golfing season. Personally I love that a new year brings with it a new range of drivers. I also love how the opinion of the drivers by reviewers may change during the following months after a lot rmore data is garnered. I really enjoy the driver comparisons that are done during the year.

Ooooh I’m waiting to see your review of the new Wilson clubs. On the hunt for new clubs and just when I think I have a decision made Wilson pops back up.
Just got back into golf last year and was using a crappy Costco set from about 10 years ago. Upgraded everything (2nd hand for everything) and landed on Cobra and this was after having Callaway irons initially, think the main reason i like them is that prices are on point and its a brand not everyone has. I looked at a heap of reviews before hand (Ricks included) and there wasnt a bad word said about them which helped with my choices. I've got my first proper lesson this week so will be interesting to see what the Pro thinks about how the equipment fits me.

Rick and Guy back to their best.. Great discussion re TF and RM contest and the significance of this for the former. Also a more balanced approach to LIV (which is not mainstream yet) but at least seeing the pulling power of two great golfers battling for a title, regardless of the tour. More of the same please!

Get the Wilson Staff irons, Rick. Be the man, Rick. Be like me, Rick. 😁 I started my golfing life, some 45 years ago, playing Wilson blades (badly). Foolishly, I gave them away and moved into CBs when Ping first created them. I haven't played a Wilson club since, BUT this year I have my new clubs on order - a blended set of Staff blades and CBs that I'm pairing with a D9 Forged long iron I already have. I cannot wait to get these iconic, glorious clubs in the bag and, if Rick is smart, be like Rick too 😜

Just read a post comparing the Ping G430 Max and the new 430 Max10k and when he said the new club was 20 yards longer I knew it was time to move on! Looking forward to Rick posting his numbers for the new Ping.

I agree with the point.. if Rahm Koepka Smith are coming down the line i might go and watch.. Also i think important if it was not for Liv .. me in the UK the only chance i get to see proper Golf starts up close and personal is the Open .. if Liv breaks the US monopoly of actual stars coming to Uk/France/ Spain where we have courses that have nothing to be ashamed for to see the world say top 20 regularly i am all for that and they have achieved something Golf positive

Rick, you should go get a custom full bag fitting. Every time I’ve been for one I come out extremely happy with my new clubs. You could make a few videos on them aswell
Do this at SGGT you can try 4,6,8,PW in irons, PLUS you can hit onto a range so see true ball flight.

Amen. I have always wondered why companies release new clubs in the middle of Winter when half the world is too cold to play. I get that in January the southern hemisphere is warm but if they released in March both hemispheres would be cool-warm. And that early pros would still have time to adjust to the new clubs before the season starts.
I think they do it because they want to get it into pros early enough that by the masters, they'll be accustomed to the club and have it in the bag. Many pros take a while to switch and get feel confident in the new stuff. Everyone knows these early tourneys are kinda weak and provide a good chance for pros to tinker and work on getting things sorted before the big spring tourneys: torrey, pebble, waste management, masters. I think March would be too late for pros as they'd likely have things locked in for the masters and players tourney already Additionally, I think alot of them time ( or used to time) their releases around the PGA show down in Florida. They want to get all there new stuff out before the show so reviewers, shop owners, and club pros can get down and test the new stuff and have time to speak with the reps. I'd Imagine most would need to get there orders for the season in somewhat soon just to have enough ready to go before the season starts.

enjoyed the show, fellows! here's some of my unsolicited opinions/ideas on some of the topics 1) Rory's 3 putt for tap in Birdie to Bogey was WAY more of consequence than the drive on 18 to me. Even if he had missed the first and made par it would've gone to a playoff and all that is assuming he still hits driver on 18 with a 2 shot lead. 2) I enjoy watching golf but who is in contention and playing well is a MASSIVE point of interest. I think that is pretty universal and I think TW is the best example of that, how impactful his presence or lack there of in any tournament affected viewership and attendance. Especially with his injuries and personal issues, golf took a huge collective dive when he was gone 3) Im super happy Tiger left Nike as I hate that company. I wonder if there is ANY possibility that some of this decision also has Charlie as part of the future plans. I think that could go from so many directions to explore, but a possible Woods family brand...?!
If you watched for 4 hours you didn't see the whole tournament. That's the issue I have with PGA vs LIV. I LOVE the shotgun start the most out of the other changes. I can devote a given timeframe for a tournament on one stream/tv channel/KZhead/etc. vs chasing from Golf Channel to network tv, to different network tv because it takes so long no one will pick up the entire 18 holes.

Bought last year’s carbon wilson dyna power that I’m really looking forward to trying out!! After several reviews it seems like for the money I can’t go wrong!! Fingers crossed!! I just can’t justify the disposable income to pay for a brand new driver! I’ve never done it and have no plans to change. We as golfers, buy into the hype and just can’t help ourselves to justify buying the latest! Unfortunately we know that our swing is what produces results. Maybe a few lessons would be better choice!! A few yards and a little forgiveness is not going to help my bank account!! Just a thought

Rick, Blueprint "S". All of my sub 5 handicap playing partners have tested and ordered. Just too good. They are a return to the S55's from 12 years ago. And damned soft/solid in my testing.

I have to disagree with Guys statement on Cobra. As a fitter, Cobra is very successful, especially head to head against the other brands. Its a very underrated brand. I cannot tell you how many times someone has come in with a stealth 2 or Paradym on their mind, and left with an Aerojet. They have done a tremendous job with their drivers, and they have made great strides in better players irons. This year with darkspeed is no exception. The drivers are very good. Not to mention, they are hands down the best looking drivers of 2024. If someone got fit for a cobra, I know its someone that cares about performance more than the brand and marketing.
New drivers need to be ready to buy for Xmas. Release in late November and get those Christmas presents ready

You do realise in LIV, on the final day. The leading group Tee off 15 mins after everyone else. So it is a featured group.
Clearly they haven't watched a LIV event. Nobody has ever won who hasn't tee'd off on the 1st. It always comes down to the 18th hole and if it didn't then the guy who wins on the 1st would have had a fantastic final round and I think that would be exciting to watch.

I might be wrong but wasn't the Ping G400 max 10k ?. Plus, you would have to prise my G 400 SFT from my dying hands ! I gained 5mph of swing speed with the smaller head & learned how to hit the middle with a lot of practice. in my opinion still a great driver now.
