I appreciate you sharing your review! No substitute for real world testing like you show. Thanks Rob!
Excellent in-depth review. Well done. 😎 -Mark
THAT FINCH ID LOVE RUNNING ON ONE AT A YARD SALE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for sharing rob its all ways a pleasure .
I'm in the market for a torch and so this is extremely useful thanks.
Thanks for the review. I purchased one of these torches to use in a small furnace that I am making. One thing I noticed was that the left hand thread on the supplied hose bottle securing wheel (16tpi) appears to be a different from the thread (14tpi) in the gas bottle POL valve. It will not thread in enough to securely seal the connector. It will go on a couple of threads and then bind up.
good job Rob .
Good review, thanks.
Great vid
Note: LPG and Propane are the same gas, but LPG can include other gases (eg. butane). Both run on the same torches at similar temperatures. Neither gas requires the use of a flash back arrestor when used without an additional oxygen supply. Be aware that the POL (gas cylinder) connector thread profile varies around the world and may not be compatible with your country standard.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks again Rob, for some good comparisons! You've got any future plans of winging together a DIY cyclone burner for it, per chance...? Cheers! DIYSwede
G’day Rob I don’t know if you will see this or not, I bought a Bullfinch torch after watching your video. I bought it in Perth it came in a steel tool box which had the torch in it plus a pretty fancy regulator the has a built in gauge on and you can wind how much gas you want going to the torch really easy to adjust the flame and heat. Thank you for showing the Bullfinch video. Kind regards John
What about putting a colour over the end of the torch about three quarters of an inch narrowing like a cone but have it raised off the torch so it can get air underneath the colour try and see what happens. Yes three quarters of an inch overhang from where it is at the moment the tip of the torch put 3 grub screws to hold it in place and so you can adjust it's position not sure how much air gap maybe a couple of millimetres all the way around not too much. The tip of the cone about 5 or 7 mm smaller
Hi Rob. For the price that's not a bad torch, certainly good enough for the furnace. I like the shallow angle on the Bullfinch torches, even though their standard torch is shorter than the brazing torch your hand is still well away from the hot bits. Cheers, Alan.
Here in the UK.....we fit a regulator to the gas bottle out let.....are these torches really able to be able to be coupled to a gas bottle direct with no reg???
Thanks for the review Rob.
What gas pressure do you use? Are you using any regulator for this? Also what's the gas hose like? Is it steel reinforced? Flexible enough?
I heard them doves in the background and thought they were the same as we have here in Idaho USA but I did notice that they seemed to have Australian accent, go figure?
Hi Rob,. A comment on the torch. I wish you would have turned that torch down a bit and adjusted it so you do not get rid of that center blue flame. Make it as big as you can but still maintain the shape of the flame as much as you can. The more the blue flame is distorted the less concentrated heat you have. You have to play with it to see. I have always found the hottest part of any gas flame is always at the end of that blue flame. Your can experiment with it but I think your best heat will come from having that blue cone shape. A side note,. LPG is liquid propane gas. Hope all is well.
