As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, the core members of Metallica include:
1. James Hetfield - Lead vocals and rhythm guitar.
2. Lars Ulrich - Drums.
3. Kirk Hammett - Lead guitar.

Notably, the band has gone through a few lineup changes in its early years before settling on this core lineup.

  • Played Nothing Else Matters at my husbands funeral on who died on 12/3/24. I'm now playing it again. I've open his wardrobe door to look at his neatly hanging T-shirts and shirts so I can imagine him and playing Metallica over and over. I feel so sad.
