Loved this vid. DZ just sounds so cool, had a few great lines, plus it was fun seeing both riders flinging so much crap at each other as they strained their way to the top (one a bit more than the other).

I live along the stage route just below the fire station you see in the video. We just had an unusual snow fall for this time of year up on the mountain which made the stage better than the last time three years ago when the temperatures were in the 90s (32+ c) and a bit smoggy. Today was beautifully clear and cool. Cloudy and foggy up on the mountain, but fairly comfortable.

Hehehehe i did 8 repeats on that 4.3 mile Mt. Baldy section a couple weeks ago! So gnarly! 17.6 thousand feet of gain over 75 miles 🎊

Jan Jasiewicz seems like a perfect replacement for neil.
I did this climb back in March 3x for a cycling buddy of mine who had terminal cancer. Unfortunately he died just a couple of weeks later. Here's a link...www.strava.com/activities/262685452/segments/6151564430 My PB on the day from the village to the ski lifts was just under 48 min, I was taking it at a steady pace to get the 3x done. I guess that makes me a "reasonable amature". Almost 5000m of climbing for the day was a fitting tribute, and I only endured a fraction of the pain my buddy was going through. There was still snow and ice around at the top so the descent was treacherous and V cold.

Mark Cavendish won the first two stages of Amgen Tour Of California! First was perfect timing by Etixx and Cav. Second stage win was the Manx Missile breaking away and beating Sagan on the sprint!

Why is this ride not on The Boss' STRAVA? How we should believe he really ride to the top and not just ride there by car?:)
i can see that Dan is no longer using his Cervelo bike and now into Scott bikes. Matt was on a trek before and now on a ridley or scott. How often do you guys change bikes? or are these sponsored?
I suspect these are sponsored. All of them were suddenly riding Scott since few episodes back. I think the one bike they seem to genuinely love is the Ridley because Simon and Tom both prefer it. I believe the Trek and Scott are sponsored. Of course it is upto them to clarify. And they really should!

Francis Tan Hi Francis. We do need sponsorship and income in order to survive as a channel - travelling about the world and making daily content is quite expensive and can't be covered by adverts alone. However, we are pretty lucky in that we have the opportunity to work with a very large number of brands when it comes to our bikes and other equipment. That gives us the luxury of picking and choosing what we feel is the best, and never having to ride sub-standard stuff. We have deliberately steered clear of ever doing bike reviews, that's for the tech journalists, so we have never been biassed from that point of view. I still occasionally ride my Cervelo but it's getting a little old now, could be time to consign it to my museum (of 3 bikes in a loft!). Dan
+dan loyd this is nice to know. I totally understand the economics side of things. Was just curious about how you guys pick the bikes. Also, i was just gonna suggest that you guys do a review of these bikes but as you mentioned you guys are steering clear of this which is a bit sad. :)
Dan: I know you guys do not do reviews but we really would love if you could. You guys do such an awesome job, are credible and ethically correct. Plus have you ever read tech magazine reviews. They are more like marketing pieces for the bicycle companies. I think that's a huge market for you to tap. I have stopped reading anything else but always follow GCN. cheers and thanks for the amazing content.
