‼️UPDATE ‼️ This Is Why Semanhyia Farms Is No More | Losing Over 5 Million Investment Farms To Taboo

10 399 Рет қаралды

Semanhyia Farms and Farming in Africa, a prominent livestock breeding facility in Berekum Senase in the Bono Region, is facing an unexpected setback as the traditional leaders of Berekum have ordered a closure of the GH¢5 million investment, citing a breach of a taboo not to rear goats in the Berekum area.
Semanhyia Farms has been operating in the area for the past five years and in addition to other breeds, it has a large stock of goats as part of its farming project in the area.

  • This is heartbreaking and unbelieving. My only point with the whole situation is that Fred's mother belongs to that community and as our traditions and customs require we don't offend our maternal part of our family, also most cultures of that part of Ghana are matrimonial lineage oriented . My advise to you Fred is simple: do not move your animals, make sure they are safe in the fence, that is your propriety, you bought it not a donation, continue the negotiation with them, go to court to have an injunction. Do not batch on them. You can not invest over $400,000 over these years for a so called queen mother comes to tell nonsensical pronouncements of what to do or not. This woman doesn't want to see your mom to be a proud mother of a proud son you are. Only in Ghana you see and hear this kind of stupidity, Don't give up to this jealousy, conspiracy and organized crime against you. They just want your mom be subordinate to them, come every morning sweep their yard. This 21st century and African youth entrepreneurs need to have space to compete with others around the world.

  • I am a 28-year-old dude pursuing a master's degree in Biology in Canada. I found inspiration to start a livestock farm in Ghana when I watched Fred's first KZhead video. The sudden shutdown has been disheartening for me because I had planned to rely on him for exotic goats from South Africa, his pallet machines, Brachiaria grass, alfalfa grass etc and to seek more knowledge of him it hurt but i encourage him not to give up because we are learning a lot from him.

    • @@flavorsofthecontinent7195 never said it’s easy, nothing is. It’s his home town, he knew the laws and rules, he went over board thinking they will over look it like when he was a child and had a goat or two. Having 6 acres of land filled with goats that’s not suppose to be there is not the same as one or two. No one is going to over look it, we all know our laws but we refuse to obey and live by them We then turn around and say africa and taboo and this and that, every land has its rules and laws. There are certain things you can’t and not allowed to do in Ghana. If you do it and get caught are you going to say to the law and rules “look at how much money I’ve invested and put into this work”? Let’s take care of what is ours and obey our own rules and laws and let’s not compare ourselves, we are not them and they are not us. We’ve been on this planet before anyone, and we now trying to be like those that just got on this planet.

    • The law of the land!!! What do you mean? Law says that one cannot farm? The whole thing is that we blacks don’t like seeing fellow blacks succeed. If it is a white or Chinese, s/he will be celebrated and instooled as something something Hene. This the same Ghana lands that have been devastated by galamse, polluting environment, water bodies, and sacred forests in plain day light of the so called custodians: chiefs and Queen mothers but nothing is done. Black man is Black with dark stomach as we say in Éwé, Agbetō dôme yibō.

  • By his name and / or facial looks Fred’s father ,mother or grandfather is/was one of the prominent figures in Berekum . This goat taboo has been there for many years. He may have known or been told about it. Inspite of this it is about time that the Elders take a second look at this tradition since we are in the computer age.We should put some dynamism into our way of life for development. There are reasons for every tradition, laws or rules in every society . Therefore those who are quick to insinuate, insult and degrade the Elders should take a moment to consider the other side of the coin. The community is rural and the people do small scale farming. Come to consider unguarded goats, sheep, cows and other animals roam and mow down peasant and backyard farms. These farmer concerns have led to killings, wars and misunderstandings in some communities. These issues might have led to some of these laws and taboos .Of course there is the spiritual aspect too. That is not to say that Fred’s commercial farm falls foul of same. I therefore recommend that all parties take a careful look at all issues involved so that the necessary changes can be made for the benefit of the entire community. But for God’s sake let’s avoid the insults and misplaced judgments. Berekum is a very peaceful area all these years, let’s keep it as such.

Fred my advise to you is to keep negotiating with them. File a case in court to put a hold on their evacuation order. Make a strong case against them if they refuse reasoning and stick to their evacuation decision. You need to buy time. Get private security guards to secure your properties 24/7. These are your properties. You have any right to stay there as long as you want. Fight, dont play their game. Where were they when you were investing? The slaughtering in July was to set you up. It was a trap! If there have been a breach in traditional rules, how come they have not noticed it on day 1? Do they need 5 years to realize that? Their rationals dont hold. This is an arbitrary decision that is highly driven by jealousy. Don't leave! Stay and defend your properties and investment. Fight, fight, fight in the legal way! You seemed to back down. Do not!

    • @@tembwetembwe6245 it has nothing to do with jealousy, what’s there to be jealous of? Sealing little change that no one will notice and taking all of your mothers savings is not the same. Having two goats as a child is not the same as a 6 acres filled with goats, why do we act as if we are some other ppl? Why do we ignore our own rules and laws and bitch complain and cry when the law catches up? The law was not outlawed, read what you said you fools just want to make up excuses “it seems” why guess and assume? He just thought what he did as a child and what they did as a child he can do as a grown up! Why don’t we like telling the truth? Why do we not speak the truth? Why do we act as if the rules of the land is not to be followed and to be compared with some pale ppls laws and rules? There are days we don’t go to the farm, there are times we don’t hunt! These are laws each citizen must follow, they are laws of the land, they are not import rules or laws! Laws and rules of the land are more important that an imported rule or law! The same with ideas and the food we eat! Stupid we have become!

  • But how n were the Hell does a traditional village chief get the powers to tell someone what animals they can or can't raise on their private property that they paid 4? Makes no damn sense'. If at all anything, they're supposed to compensate you to move the animals together with the money you've invested over the 5 yrs. They can't just wake up from the wrong side of their beds n give you 2 wks to evaluate investments which have taken you 5 yrs. The Ghanaian govt needs 2 get off its ass n do smthg to protect its investors from these predatory traditional leaders!! ! Otherwise, this whole thing sounds like one big joke!! No disrespect, but how does the govt allow such nonsensical n antiquated traditions 2 prevail in the 21st century?

  • What makes rearing goats a taboo? Some of these cultures are abhorrent and incompatible with modern society. Government needs to stand up for the economic rights of all Ghanaians. This is outright injustice.
