Thank you for addressing this Matt. I’m a young female and the hype around Taylor Swift really frightens me along with the way that people essentially worship her. Something I’ve been focusing on lately with secular music is the message that is being put across. If the message isn’t something that aligns with Gods word I don’t listen to it. It’s not easy but I’d rather be closer to God than to the things of the world. 😊

If you seen the carry on in Australia, we had countdown on the tv to when her concert started, mother's outside the stadium with very small children wailing cause they missed out on tickets, it was truly diabolical

I pray for Taylor because I know God is not willing that even one should perish!

I grew up heavily into the Rock Scene here in England. Never listened to the unsavoury stuff but as i got older i realised that it probably wasnt the right thing to be doing. Especially some of the imagery that goes with hard rock. I threw all my music out and dont really listen to any secular music now. Todays popular music is much worse and can easily lead young impressionable minds astray. God bless you and yours.

There are a ton of women that are much much better looking than Taylor Swift and a ton of women that can sing better than she can. So I don't understand the fixation with Taylor Swift. I guess the social media'ites got to follow somebody and for now she's the one. Another commenter said " Idol worship", I had to give that comment the thumbs up.

When I became saved over the course of a couple years I left almost everything secular. It is very rare I choose to do anything secular like watch a movie or listen to music. Build up your discernment and think, "What does God think about this?" or "Am I going to hurt Jesus by doing this?" I threw away most of my movies. I couldn't believe how many I had that were so funny and cute but had blasphemy in them! Even my very fav movie ever I tossed. The secular world does not praise or honor the Lord. Be very careful to guard your heart as we're instructed to do. I have replaced movies with Christian, wholesome movies (but beware, even if it's labeled Christian on YT many still contain blasphemy crazily). I listen to Christian music (I like WGTS radio that I play in my car). But even then nothing will ever be perfect as we live in a world deeply influenced by sin. Just do your best to be wise and pray for the lost and be a light to the world.

My high school grandaughter said one of her teachers told them all off because they said they didn't like Taylor Swift, she got rat faced about it and told them she won't have Taylor Swift talked about in any way, yet she brought the subject up! Why are teachers even talking to kids about who their idols are?

Thank you for speaking out on this. We have so many people, especially young ones, in our small town that are fixated on her to an extreme. It is frightening. I am grateful my kids are not ones to get caught up in current pop culture. They are sometimes looked at as the odd ones at school but I remind them that these things their peers are chasing are temporary and only the things of God lead to eternal life.

I enjoy listening to the wisdom you share because it's practical and a lot of times comes from personal experiences, which I think is quite relatable. One thing that I have noticed, is that you are one of the few channels that asks for comments to be left and actually responds to many of them. I am not looking for a reply, but wanted to highlight this fact.

I have never followed her when she first came out and still don't follow her. I'm not into her music.

Popular music, movies, etc all seem to go against teachings of the bible. I guess they do so because they're just expressing what is in their heart. As Christians though we should feel a conviction when we're exposed to these things, and if we aren't I think that's a red flag for us to examin our walk with God. At church we went over Colossians 3:2 and I've been chewing on that since. I think it applies here as well? How can we be filling our mind with music like Taylor Swift and at the same time setting our mind on the things that are above?

As believers, we're precious daughters of God, as Matt says. Praise God!

thanks for sharing this message. I've had so many dreams about Taylor Swift. I've had dreams about her and I'm not sure you know what I'm supposed to do .

I have always felt that way about music, but so many Christians I know act like they can handle it, and it doesn't change them. I disagree.

I appreciate your humble take on this. It's much more interesting to me to see christians go over what issues there might be in secular entertainment in a nuance way, rather than getting radical or legalistic about and feeling like all of it needs to be forbidden 🤨. Speaking of the secular I've seen people from that world bring up how she has made songs about her failed relationships in life so much so that it almost feels like she is purposely putting herself in bad relationships just to make songs about them. Don't know for sure if that's true, but it's interesting 🤔. Lastly, I don't know much about the song you mentioned but to give her some benefit of the doubt, she is probably not going after Christianity as much as society and some of the things that are presumably pushed on women that are seen as restrictive. In addition, keep in mind that her politics seem to be very left leaning, and therefore if she is going after christians is mostly the ultra right-wing conservative christian that she may be criticizing 🤔.

We need to stop paying too much attention to this woman, that’s exactly what she’s seeking.

The problem around here in middle Tennessee is that young folks are naive to what Swift actually believes, so they think she’s just like them, probably raised in a good Bible believing church in “the Bible Belt”. I mean, she’s from just up the road in Hendersonville where Johnny Cash lived. She’s gotta love Jesus, too, especially since she has stated publicly that she’s a Christian. Right? I’m afraid her followers have the same untethered empathy as she has, and even if her parents had raised her right, statistics would suggest the church failed her. I mention that referring to the studies like the one Ken Ham just discussed how Sunday school has flat out failed in disciplining kids in the Lord. Anyhow, as the commentator of this video shows, there is NO evidence Swift holds to THE FAITH once delivered to the saints and, actually her lyrics are not only unbiblical but now overtly anti Christian. And so this is a test for all the swifties who say they love Jesus. Who will they serve? 🙏

She's a billionaire now too. Although she appears somewhat more charitable than other rich celebrities, she's in a unique position to do much more for the least among us. 1 Tim. 6:10 Amen.

I don't listen to any secular music. I was saved as a teenager, and I found that when I cut out all secular music, I had power in prayer and in holiness, and a real closeness to God. All I wanted to do was read the Bible, pray, and spend all my free time with the Lord. I can't believe anyone who professes Christ would think secular music is okay.

I serve in MS ministry. The girls are so depressed… and they praise TS and get so excited about her.

To be fair, she's clearly not writing lyrics to tell people how to live because her songs all conflict with each other, at least in the tortured poets album. That said, I don't think a Christian should listen to her music for any length of time. I haven't listened ot the album at all, just looked up the lyrics. The album itself almost seems as if it's cry for help from a tortured soul.

I just recently discovered your channel and am very impressed with the subjects you choose to discuss and the love and humility you show towards these subjects even though you might disagree with them. I find that these subjects have also been sitting upon my heart, and I find myself very often agreeing with your analysis. My husband and I were just talking about TS and her negative influence on young girls. How she sounds like a 15 year old girl always complaining about her ex-boyfriends. She professes to be a Christian, yet nothing about her life shows this to be true. I pray for her and all the young women and girls who idolize her. Only our Lord should be worshipped, not some pop star whose name will be forgotten in a short while. These individuals will only lead you down the easy path to the wide gate and destruction. And as a mom of an 18 old daughter I don't want her being exposed to this at all. I'm concerned about the stage act. She has a snake on the screen and then two artificial ones behind her. She does this whirling thing on the stage as well. I saw an article of her and Prince William on the front and something just didn't seem right. This was for a Bon Jovi concert. She grabbed William and took up on stage to sing with Bon Jovi. The prince said he couldn't help himself. I wonder if she is involved in witch craft given that and the stage act she does. Bon Jovi confirmed that it was Taylor that dragged Prince William up on stage.

You don't want our girls and boys to follow the worlds celebs then let Christian men and women come up with Christ role models. The things of the world are the world but the things of the Kingdom are seen in Christian musicians. We overcome evil by good. So present here some Christian role models and influencers that young people can follow. OK?

Interesting that you said “most popular now”. It’s fleeting and eventually she’ll be just another ungodly singer who the world has become bored with. Even the beatles lost their appeal to the world.

If you really want to talk biblical, talk about the war between Israel and Palestine. The bible speaks on wars: past, present and the last days. Not celebrities influence on little kids; that is up to their parents.

I personally think she’s worse than some of the more blatant ones, because at least with them you obviously shouldn’t be listening. It’s more subtle with her in a way, and I agree with others here that she’s trying to destroy relationships before they even start, whether she knows she’s doing it or not.

Taylor...topped up the food bank in San Fran so it can feed 500k people a month for a year. God...lets thousands starve everday. Taylor, donated thousands upon thousands for flood relief throughtout the years. God...created the floods. But you keep rooting for your guy.
