Does that not seem a little odd 3 British officials reffing a British team, why doesn't Matthieu Reinau just ref the final if France are playing???

    • But if it was given you could equally argue England were hard done by because it was actually a knock on. Besides, unless it was the final play of the game you can’t actually claim they would have won the game if it was given.

      @somanytakennames@somanytakennames7 ай бұрын
    • @somanytakennames it would have given Samoa more confidence. Once a try is score and a kick has been converted or missed. They should move on and accept they made a mistake. That's why in some cases players choose to take their kicks quickly to prevent the decision from being reversed

    @888young2@888young27 ай бұрын
  • That was a bad miss by Miracle on Danny Care for that try. Flanker has to watch that channel. Miracle is an awesome up and coming player for Manu Samoa and will learn from that experience. But there were other moments in those last few minutes where the game could've been won. A tip tackle on Lima Sopoaga whose leg went above the horizontal should've been a penalty, but the ref never wanted to review it. And then Care saving that try at the end when Neria Foma'i looked headed for the tryline and his pass to Alamanda Motuga was knocked on just metres from the tryline. Big games often come down to small moments. All in all, an effort Manu Samoa can be proud off, they played like they did against Ireland before the tournament. If only they can be more consistent with their performances but they need more games at this level so it becomes a habit. They rarely play top tier countries between World Cups. World Rugby needs to do more to provide fairer scheduling to provide more opportunities to second tier nations.

  • 78min should have been a penalty for 1. (May) playing it on the ground, and 2. (George) entering in the side …both in front of the ref.

    @rugbydaydreamin@rugbydaydreamin7 ай бұрын
    • Blue 10 commits the first offense though, crawls through the ruck with his hands on the ground making JG turn 90 degrees and making a legal clearout impossible. May is just placing the ball backwards as is his right as the tackled player. Completely fair to just let the game flow there seeing as White retained possession.

      @limbothytimothy@limbothytimothy2 ай бұрын
    • @@limbothytimothyblue did not commit an offense as he was still on his feet when he tried to grab the ball. The ball should have been released when blue laid hands on it before he lost his footing. Instead, May resisted, which should have been a penalty.

      @theephraimite@theephraimiteАй бұрын
    • @@theephraimite Laws 15 .11-12 "Once a ruck has formed, no player may handle the ball unless they were able to get their hands on the ball before the ruck formed and stay on their feet. Players must endeavour to remain on their feet throughout the ruck." Blue 10 very clearly infringes on both of these laws. Doesn't matter if he hets back onto his feet, if he's on his hands at any point he is off feet and has to leave the ruck, and rejoin through the gate from an onside position, neither of which he did.

      @limbothytimothy@limbothytimothyАй бұрын
    • @@limbothytimothy look again, a ruck had not formed yet when blue tried to grab the ball. But May resisted when he should have released the ball. As for the ruck, one England player came from the side. Also, same blue player that got tip tackled but no call. There are many instances when the ref turned a blind eye on England’s infringements. We know there is bias against Oceanic teams. Remember, May was supposed to be suspended for his dangerous high tackle during a warm up game before the World Cup. A Tongan player in another game got suspended and missed the World Cup but his tackle wasn’t as bad as May’s and unlike May, he has not red card history. May is notorious for dangerous tackles but just got a slap on the wrist. Why the inequality?

      @theephraimite@theephraimiteАй бұрын
    • @@theephraimite Your arguments are all over the place mate, a ruck is formed as soon as a player from either team enters over the ball, also 10 shouldn't technically have his shoulders lower than his hips (law 15.3) which is a penalty offense. Fact of the matter is technical infringements happen all the time, on both sides of the ball, in every game, and the ref is the arbiter of what is and isn't acceptable. Their word is law. But no it's probably better to believe there is a global Rugby conspiracy against island teams, instead of just admitting the simple fact that they aren't as good as the big nations (no shade, it's a completely expected thing when considering the player bases of the bigger nations)

  • At 3:50 Owen Farrel attempts to pick up the ball from an illegal position, the ref says "no no" and basically saves England from conceding a penalty. I know this happens a fair amount but shouldn't the ref let play happen naturally not guide the players to making the correct decisions. I feel like that small moment basically cost Samoa the game as it would've been an easy penalty kick from there.
