Mr Indifferent is incredibly powerful. This seems so relatable. In the beginning he doesn't help other people, and they don't, or barely notice him, but once he starts helping them they actually become grateful. Really show how our society nowadays works where everyone expects they have to do everything themselves, and shows how small acts of kindness can have a big impact on the world. Your value as a person doesn't go down if you don't do anything, but it does go up if you do help.

In my interpretation, Mr. Indifferent represents the everyman. Someone who doesn’t really care about other endeavors beside his own. He’s just an average stranger, not willing to help, instead just keeping to himself. But when he removes his hands from his pocket, he see’s that he can in fact do good. That inspires him to do good.

I also see this film from the point of view that perhaps he was raised in an environment where his parents and others didn't show him much affection or interact with him much so he was a product of his environment. The show of affection from the cute little old lady opened up a whole new world for him.

It's a guilt trip. I'm a firm believer in rugged individualism and not relying on others.
@@alexs5744 yeah, that's important but living in a society means we all should/must work together for the greater good.
@@alexs5744 It's not so much of a guilt trip, as a story of discovery. It's letting folks who see nothing beyond themselves know the joy of being a part of something greater. If you are ruggedly individual, that means you must have tried this route and not had it work out. And that's perfectly fine. Be as individual as you want. This is showing people that don't know that there's another way just in case they are a little... *indifferent*.
Love this short movie. We can all do some good in this world, no matter how small. I always try to help where I can, and I have a short story to tell. One day on my way to get some groceries, I saw a man with his young son trying to get a ball out of the water, sadly it was just out reach. Being the kind one I offered to help, to I hold on to a lamp post with one arm and hold him with the other, allowing him to bend over deep without falling in the water. We got the ball out together, and they thanked me happy. I left with a smile on my face. As a good man always says "It's good to be helping."
The ending was amazing. Because that guy in the glasses would be crazy to let a blind man cross the street on his own.
This is how you make an animation that's both wholesome and comedic
Pixar take some notes
Takes one act of kindness to change someone’s whole life.
Yep that is the point of the story.
exactly, kindness can definitely change people's lives
Idk one act of kindness might just make one day slightly better. Yeah, I’ll still do something kind for someone if I can, but it would rarely change their *whole* life.
One act of anything can change anyone's life.
Always help someone because you may be the person that needs help later. Never say it can't happen to you because it can

Sometimes I'm very careless to people around me who need help , but after someone appreciating my kindness I feel motivated to do more kindness thing ... Moral of this video , always appreciating the kindness from people because you never know how hard for him to do that
The hands in the pocket for this could symbolise the anxiety and the fact that he found that helping people is what make him happy, he became more confident and willing to help them, which is how we see the progression from his hands remaining in his pockets to finally being kept out of them.
@@ishmamanwar391 It could be selfishness, but I saw it relate more to anxiety, as its something I personally go through.
Hands in pocket is just convenient, lol, there is no evidence that in all cases it means anxiety ... And in this case, in the video, this symbol means indifference and selfishness.
@@emptiness2811 social anxiety is one of them. Fearing to be judged and not voicing your opinions or not acting your usual way in public
Luca is one of the best movie have ever seen kzhead.info/sun/YMyogtKen2qqmoE/bejne.html
It's really unfortunate how strongly people seem to disagree with the OP. I certainly think there are multiple interpretations here (and none are really more right), but it reveals a lot that people so strongly push for the negative. Most people aren't indifferent out of malice or even selfishness but anxiety of getting it wrong. I've definitely been in similar situations myself where I want to help but I'm not a quick thinker (and really an over thinker) and often wait too long before acting and the moment passes. There's also an increased fear in involving oneself in others lives. As social media and public news outlets puts more of our lives out there we become more fearful in connecting with others in that we could make mistakes and our mistakes can lead to negative outcomes. There are plenty of cases out there of people holding elevator doors for women or the elderly or people disabilities and getting told off for assuming they needed help in the first place. There are similar cases of adults helping children they don't know and being treated like criminals. These aren't the most common cases, but that's the problem with fear mongering and a world where negativity sells. These posts and articles take the top pages and reconstruct out perceptiond of social interaction. There's a plethora of other possibilities. People tend to think someone more suited will come along and help or that they'll be causing trouble for themselves by helping (similar to being selfish but more trying to keep a low profile). There are unfortunately societies that are homogenous by nature and dissuade any action that separates people from the herd. I mean there's a whole study of people being more willing to help when there are less people around. I like the OP's stance and not everything has to be so Grimm as humans being awful.
