Did I Waste $2400 on a 60W Laser Cutter from China?
We've all been there. We checked out lasers and found they're really expensive to purchase an American made machine. Then we come across the Chinese knockoff CO2 laser cutters and just can't get over how much cheaper they are. But are they worth it? No support, no direct contact with the company, and broken English manuals. Do we take a shot in the dark to save a few grand? Don't worry, I took the leap for you. Watch as I unbox the 60w Orion Motor Tech Laser engraver cutter and set it up.
Was it worth it?

rough watch. 35 minute unboxing and setup video with 12 seconds of cutting.
You wanted strait cutting? I'll do a follow up with just cuts.
Only took me 15 minutes at 2x speed.
I agree, lot of fluff and filler to get to the point. skip, skip, watch a few seconds, skip, skip, skip watcha few seconds. But I am curious to see it really getting used and what kind of work you can turn out with it, so I'll keep on checking back. Calibrating and workflow will be interesting. But to be fair, it's not just here, if you've noticed most of the maker channels have turned to mostly puff and filler pieces with occasional good stuff, I can imagine it's crazy difficult to keep cranking quality content that youtube wants with the tiny amount of monetization, if any.
But, "Was it worth it?" Never really got the answer.
yep and clickbait title. this is the first video i've seen from this channel, already eh
GOD BLESS THAT FAST FORWARD OPTION
2x ftw!
😂NO, i switch the cursor on the last minute. WORKS GREAT😂👍
Isn't it amazing to watch this and think of how far we've all come since that box arrived? I sure do appreciate your videos. I've learned a ton from you and you often help me straighten out a problem I'm having with mine. Thanks you!
It really is!
I have the same machine. I unpacked it by myself...what a pain. Took me half an hour to figure out it was screwed to the pallet through the feet. Duh. It worked great right out of the box but about a month later the psu died. I contacted the seller and they credited back my account for the cost of a new one rather than shipping one from China.I bought a 60w cloudray and it has been flawless. It's a great machine with lots of potential with some minor upgrades such as a meter and quieter fan. Play around with different focal lenses as well. I'm looking at going with a true 60w tube when this one dies but not in a hurry to kill it. Good luck with the machine.
Hi there, great video. We all start somewhere, and you got it to cut first time, well done. When cutting plywood or softer timbers, the air assist should give a cleaner and non "sooty" cut, if it is getting enough air. The laser I operated just used the shop compressed air supply which was adjustable at the machine with it's own regulator. Have fun, you are only limited by your imagination!
Oh god, please take that little clear 3-way with the side tubing off the water pump outlet. That is to introduce air into the water which is great for fish, but terrible for laser cooling. That's why the water in the laser looked so bubbly. Each of those bubbles can create a hotspot and could cause the tube to fail sooner than it should. Also, when measuring dB, it's a logarithmic scale. Every 3dB *doubles* the volume you're measuring.
You beat me to it , I cringed when i saw him hook that up.
didn't know what it was for. never had a fish tank. always learning.
@@MyersWoodshop Hi, I have a laser like this for 2 years (80W so more powerful, but same design). Here are some of my experiences: 1) buy for your laser a Water Chiller - search on ebay or amazon for CW-3000 or I´m running CW-5200 as I don´t have A/C at my shop. This thing will keep your tube at about 19-20°C which will encrease life of your tube. Btw my fish pump died after 2 days - had the same 2) Blower - if you´re going to cut plywood or acrylic (or plastic in general) I recommend you to stick to factory blower as these materials when you cut them, makes nasty paste all hose and blower, which is very tricky to remove. Better to buy new chinese one again. Cutting (and especially engraving) stinks a lot. Make sure you will be ok with your neighborhood. 3) take your time when setting cutting parametres try to use different speeds and power. Good practice is to put a piece of material under angle, make a cut and then measure best focus point (not always those 3mm) 4) measure the bend of your honeycomb mesh. Mine was bend like hell, but it´s easy to repair with hand - press from below until your satisfied. Anyway Congrats to purchase and happy cutting! Cheers from Europe
I assumed it was to bleed the air from the system?
Exactly what I was just about to say LOL
Wrapping your ductwork with some insulation will help to reduce the sound level. To conserve energy for heating and cooling, you could install a fresh air duct to bring outside air to the machine. You might also put the entire setup in a sort of booth to help conserve heating/cooling, and reduce sound levels.
Hello Meyers - Hope all is well. do you know or have a recommendation for which wheel router rotary to get for this machine?
Silicone glue is used when reconnecting the high voltage on the tube under that stub piece of Hose.
Don't know if this is mentioned but the air pump is much quieter suspended. I have my laser on a table and the air pump hangs from the table on an bungee type strap.
Love it, congrast! Do you recommend that laser machine for thin stainless steel or titanium engraving?
You'll need a fiber laser for metals OR a metal engraving solution for C02 Lasers. I'll show it off in another video.
@Junyi Laser .. hi I'm interested in laser machine with a capacity to cut 2mm CR sheet metal designs.. please mail me at.. avinash.singh.bloria@gmail.com
Thanks! Very helpful! This helped to decide to order it, prep for the unpacking and decipher the often obscure instructions and photos. Thanks for the time and effort to make the video - made set up much clearer on this machine.
Glad it helped! Make sure to buy from my links!
I know your catching some flack for the "fluff" portions of this video, however, as I am looking at this or the Preenex 60W I was very interested in all of the content. Nice work and thanks.
Thanks for the walk through! FYI when you measure the noise level of the 2 fans you measure the first one at about 1m distance, and the second one at about 0.1m. This will make a huge difference in the recorded dB level. Also mentioned but 3dB is a doubling of the noise level.
your wlecome!
Great Videos, thanks for posting! Question... can the 60w Orion machine engrave copper that has a natural dark brown patina?
check my other video for your answer : kzhead.info/sun/jdOiYtuofKNjrJ8/bejne.html
thank you for a great video, I was wondering if this will cut color/clear glass??? thank you
It won’t. It will etch it

Thank you for posting this video, that’s a really nice information I can use as reference when I’m ready to buy mine. What type of software does it come with it? Or do I have to buy it separate, thank you
You’ll have to buy lightburn
Thank you
i appreciate that yall are so dang thorough on the unwrapping and exploration of it
glad it helps! I'd rather have too much info than not enough
I got the same exact laser from ebay a few months ago.(red and black but otherwise literally identical) It was just over 1900 delivered to my driveway, at a residence about 3 days after I paid for it. I looked on amazon, but the potential for some customer service from amazon in the event that it arrived DOA ultimately was not worth the 500 dollar premium. I have been very happy with mine so far, lightburn with the DSP add on is amazing and definitely the ONLY way to go with one of these imported lasers!!! Would I buy it again without hesitation, yes I surely would.
lightburn is the best. i had amazon credit so it was worth it for me.
the small floating device is for getting air into the water when used in an aquarium/fish tank - I don't think you want air in your cooling water!
Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one wondering what that was.
your right! never used one so i didn't know!
Did you check the wire gauge behind the panel? 1.5mm is 13amp capacity
Hello, Love your channel. I was wondering if there is a way to add a sensor to the lid so the the laser will cut off when the lid is open as a safety feature?
I'm sure there is, but i run mine with the lid off so much, if it came from the factory that way...i'd disable it!
Well... for contrast, I bought an Epilog 60w a couple years ago for $22,000... It has been fired for about 200 hours total so far, and I've had replace about $600 in components that failed (at my own expense, because Epilog's warranty is b/s). Lately, I can't seem to get a clean cut through 1/8in ply or 1/4in acrylic, and I'm being told it's because I need to replace my lens... which is $172... So, I'm thinking you've done quite well to get a functional system you can use for $2,400!
nice! I hear epilogs are awesome!
Air assist is to prevent smoke from getting to the lens
Yeah, acrylic with no air with smoke the lens up quick, which makes the laser hold harder in the lens, which leads to your lense cracking in way quicker than you would think.
Agreed.
Yes, not to "ventilate the box".....
That makes more sense to me. When he said it was to prevent fire I thought that blowing air would actually increase the chance of fire :)
Reginaldesq It actually also does prevent fire. By adding airflow into the cut, the additional oxygen helps to quickly burn up the material from the kerf so that it doesn’t stay there to smolder. The air also cools the area around the cut. Materials only burn when they’re hot enough to vaporize so cooling prevents them from sustaining a flame.
Helpful and instructive, thank you guys!
glad it helped Jean!
As someone looking into purchasing one of these, I appreciate all the detailed information. I watched the entire thing. Lots of good little details for someone who has never used one before.
Glad I can help. Just trying to put all the info out I can!
The sealant is used when you change the tube. It goes around the high voltage cable attached to the tube.
your right! Hope i dont have to do that for a while!
@@MyersWoodshop Has your power supply died yet? That'll die long before the tube is bad. And the stock supply is barely 50W, not 60. When it dies, get a 60W supply from cloudray.
I can't begin to state how informative and well done this video was. Kudos, man!
thanks steven! glad it helped!
Thanks for the video, it was very informative and thorough. We just bought this machine and so far so good :) It has the Ruida 644XG. We are newbies and I was wondering if you know a place where I can get basic material specs. For example - power, speed and pass count settings to cut through 3mm birch? Thanks for your time.
I’ll do a video/blog post on the settings I use.
That's a heck of a lot of machine for only $2.4K, BTW when you measured the SPL of the black fan you had it a lot closer to the phone so the reading was relatively high. Doesn't look like it moves nearly as much air.
A 1 dB change in a sound equates to about a 26% difference in sound energy (remember that a 3 dB difference is a doubling of energy levels). In terms of subjective loudness, a 1 dB change yields just over a 7% change. A 3 dB change yields a 100% increase in sound energy and just over a 23% increase in loudness so thats a huge difference in actual loudness
Only a small set of people can notice a difference of +/- 3 dB in practice.
all i was trying to convey was how loud it was.
6 dB is double, not 3.
3dB would be "slightly louder" for the small amount of people that can spot the difference.
@@dickfantastic7908Fantastic are you sure about that? I might have to check - when I worked in the Audio Equipment industry I am pretty certain 3db was a doubling ? My memory may be lacking though. Also my point was that it was a worthwhile saving in sound level
love the Safety Sandals lol

I'm looking into getting a glowforge and came across this vid. It was nice to watch the progress of setting this one up. If I had more space I'd love to have a larger one like this. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Hello from the NW corner of Arkansas.
hey hey! The glowforge is 2x more expensive and not as powerful or capable and only uses online proprietary software...thats why it was a no go for me.
@@MyersWoodshop yea the "cloud based" software is my biggest negative for sure. But if I get more space in the future I may get something bigger.
Nice video, however, the code "MYERSWOODSHOP" you listed is not working for either site you listed, why?
When measuring the soundpressure, you need to respect 1 meter distance between the DUT and the measuring device.
thanks
I really hope you put the Extractor fan outside like it should be, build a box/leantoo/cover. That grey extractor pulls more cubic than that black one does.
Nope, it's inside. The black one is much quieter!
@@MyersWoodshop what he's telling you is you need to utilize the original fan that came with it because it does a better job of moving air so you're not buying replacement parts all the time for your laser. Speaking from experience by having replaced $20,000 gold mirrors because of low air flow, that fan keeps the dust/smoke/debris in the air from ruining your lenses. Put the fan outside in a weatherproof box and you wont hear it if noise is your only concern.
I am curious, as a new subscriber (and expecting delivery of a Shapeoko XXL, due in part to your videos), do you still use the J Tech laser mounted direct to your machine at all, or have your laser needs changed, forcing you to purchase this one? Coincidentally, this is the laser unit I was looking at buying until better examination of my own needs and use dictated I should buy a CNC.
not really. it gives me a bigger work area than this one, but it's just way underpowered and takes forever to cut.
@@MyersWoodshop Thanks for the reply, and I really appreciate the videos you make. I am building my "table" tomorrow. I think for simplicity sake, I am going to make it 4' x 4'.
The rubber quality. How fast it rot.or comes rotten.?
You may want to add an anti microbial to the cooling water...

We will just drop these wood screws here on the driveway, might just find that missing one that wasn't accounted for in a week or two Ahahahahaajahah!
Thought I was the only one that cringed watching him drop screws on the driveway. Bad practice for a woodshop.
i obviously picked them up off camera.
@@MyersWoodshop Yeah, but what if you missed one. Not a big fail though it did come across as a sloppy move to leave into a public video unless you were making a skit about risk seeking behaviour. Glad it got in the shop without any big incident.
Wipe the "goop" from the rails, it will only attract dust which will kill your linear bearings. The grease was probably put there for shipping.
Are the legs removable to help with moving it around small areas
Serious cringe when I see someone wearing sandals when doing work that has danger to exposed skin. You should not take a chance when it comes to safety. Also they should be using safety googles when activating the laser with the lid up. The exhaust fan needs the lid down to exhaust fumes and gases.
i'll die comfy.
@@MyersWoodshop I would rather you live and tell us how the cutter is working for you and new projects. Kids and others mimic what they see. You would be surprised how many of these injuries occur each year. I remember a guy using a chainsaw with flip flops on and it slipped off the tree and cut into his foot. He bled out before we could we (EMS) could arrive.
So the feet on the pump weren't a clue to how it is supposed to sit?
The water pump?
For sure. Was definitely a noobs video. I think we stated we’ve never used one before we got it in. Now others in the same situation will know what to expect.
What is the maximum cutting speed the head can move? Are the rails exactly at 90 degrees? In 2015 I bought a Chinese leaser with rails 1 degree off the 90 and due to that not able to move with greater speed than 40 mm/ second. With higher speed, the head jumps not being able to follow the cutting pattern.
I have this same machine. X axis moves at 400mm/s. Y axis is slower since it's the entire carriage, but that's doesn't matter.
exceptionally detailed video. thanks for your effort
why .. just why .. did you cut the ribbon @ 2:57 when you could have just un-tied it (ocd kicked in) :))
Came here to say the same thing.
haha. just to drive you crazy!
@@Hidyman lol, I guess I'll have to tie a ribbon and then untie is first ..

I've used a k40 that included orion tech docs, wonder if k40 whisper (scorchworks) can be used with this?
i use lightburn, so i'm not sure. this one wanted RD works.
K40 whisperer is primarily made for the M2 Nano controllers, it won't work with a Ruida. Not that you need it to, Lightburn is leagues better.
Your videos are very informative. I see these laser machines advertised all over eBay for under $1800.00. I don’t really think there is one specific brand (probable mass manufactured by one factory and sold under different names anyway), are these the same as the one you show? Also did the camera come with yours or did you install that separately? If so, what is it called? I’d really like to add that to mine. Thanks!
camera is separate from lightburn software. check my other videos! they are the same. I included a link to one on ebay in the description also.
33:56 why would you mute it?
i had music playing in the background and youtube would flag for copyright. i wasn't saying anything during that part.
get ready family every one gets something done with the laser for xmas
for sure!
this machine works directly on gcode, or which format or interface have to be the input files?
gcode!
They have this machine at the makerspace down the street. I'm very new to this but wondering if you happen to know setting for cutting 1/4" cardboard on it. They have a focal length of 3.8mm they suggest setting to but this did not cut cardboard very well. I was using 5 speed at 95 power and even that was giving trouble. Should I adjust the focal length closer or further back?
Should never need to go close to 90% power...set the focal length much closer. Maybe to where the air just nearly comes out.
@@MyersWoodshop Thank you - yeah, I thought it was strange too - I will try it closer. I'm not sure where they came up with 3.8 mm but I guess that depends on the lens they are using. They also have an 80 Watt machine but I didnt think 60 Watts would have any trouble cutting through corrugated cardboard even if it is somewhat thick.
Just rewire the power sockets on the machine with correct gauge wire.
You could! We didnt
I have that exact same identical laser from Ebay. How was the smell from it? A little smoky smelling? I added a 30ma meter, got a CW5200 chiller, and used the blower it came with. After doing the mirror setup and cleaning everything, it does a really good job for what it costs. Of course it comes with a 50w tube and not a 60w as advertised, but that is an easy fix. Thought I had it bad taking mine downstairs! LOL The base comes off, all the doors come off and it makes it much easier to move. I use Lightburn to drive it. One tip, don't use those outlets in the rear, they aren't very good and could lead to arcing. Also on the cooler, don't use the default settings, but run through them all and set it to 15C as the low end, 20C as the high end. Now for a fun note. This exact same laser is purchased by US companies, revamped with US parts and sold under a US brand for 4 times the price. The thing to look for is the guideways, they are high quality on these Chasers from Ebay, and the cabinet construction is very good. The tube and power supplies are consumables, so when time to replace, use a high quality one and you will have a laser that is every bit as good as one from say Boss laser and costs a quarter of the price. BTW, YES those screws are HOT! LOL Did the same thing!
lol. we had the same experience! mine actually has a 60 power supply. yep, american uses a lot of the Chinese components.
This was insanely helpful, thank you. Just bought this same one and was completely lost. P.S. Im also getting the camera from your other video, thanks again man, really saved my bacon here.
You're very welcome!
What type of stepper motors does it have? 2 or 3 phase? Just ordered one, but want to get a rotary device for it.

24:26 Oh baby. That's what I'm talkin about
oh yeah.
And the Chinese blower will be converted into a disk sander ;-)
yes! great call!
I'm also looking at this model. I have the Shapeoko you just got rid of also. I have been watching your vids for awhile now. I have been finding soooo many of these chinese lasers EVERYWHERE, and most of them are alot like this one. Ebay seems to have the similar models for a cheaper price. Did you contemplate going with one of those before this one? Thoughts?
yep, and i have a link for both down below. I didn't want to have to deal with china incase i got a lemon. buying from amazon gave me piece of mind.
Nice video guys!that little hose on the aquarium pump is to airate an aquarium via venturi effect.dont think you need it on a laser.
thanks chris. Yep, didn't use it.
Am I really watching 2 cavemen unpacking a laser ? yabaa dabadoo
where's our clubs?!
@@MyersWoodshop maybe you can "drawl" one
The air pump is to stop contaminated smoke from contaminating the laser lens, which will stop it fogging up and not to stop fire. When you cut plastic and the like, the smoke can be sticky like resin.
The air assist performs a number of jobs, including keeping the lens clean(er), but it significantly improves cutting ability due to feeding fresh oxygen into the cut and clearing the cut for the laser to better ablate the material.
@@Zootalaws Yes, it does have a number of functions. Just like 3D printers, laser cutters have numerous things that can be changed, that can alter the cut. But quite often increasing the airflow can actually make the cut worse. See this video about 'Beam Drag' and ' flame polishing' = kzhead.info/sun/o72mhJ2xgJx5Z4k/bejne.html
GFCI outlet covering the shop?
Think that clear looking valve u put into top of aquarium pump is a no return valve usually put In line to prevent leaks if pump fails etc
Don't pull the screw out of your tire before you have a plug kit and air compressor ready, or let the service station/tire store do it. On the serious side, thanks for the video. Well done, detailed, informative, and well edited. Thanks for sharing your experience.
glad it helped chris!

Hi, I bought a red & black 60 watt nearly 3yrs ago, it was great, I upgraded the same machine to 80 watts plus gold plate mirrors, better extraction, better water circulation, 3yrs on, its FANTASTIC, with a bit of upgrades these are perfect for home hobbies, I found it super easy to work with, I paid £1,800 GBP one of the best buys of my life. 👍🏻😊
yep, i still feel that way about this!
I'm lookinh to buy one. I was thinking the 100 watt which is probably 80 or so. Its several hundred mornthan the 60 watt. Would you recommend going for the 100?
depends on how thick you need to cut. if you want to do 1/2 definitely need the 100w
@@MyersWoodshop I figured if I'm buying one may as well go slightly bigger in power. Also how sensitive are these things with temperature? My shop is in a garage. Its insulated with make shift heat in the winter and really nothing to cool in the summers.

They still didn't put enough umph into it and it was skipping a lot!
Word of advice on the air for the machine. Don't use that pump that comes with it, as these are barely enough and don't last over time. Best thing is to connect a real compressor and connect the power strip to control a solenoid for the air inlet to the machine. Also the water cooling could use a radiator with a fan to dissipate the heat, otherwise there will not be enough cooling for the tube. Also add De-ionized water instead of city water to increase life of the tube. The duty cycle without a heat exchanger means a short cutting time.
We bought a very similar laser recently I'm have trouble aligning my lense do u have any advice

wow. really getting your moneys worth! I'll get back to you in 20 years. lol
mount the exhaust fan outside. to me, a key fail of the glowforge is having to break the warranty to get the noisiest component out of the room. will this machine etch/engrave? I know 60W isn't enough to cut metals, but if I can get a consistent groove depth.. What concerns me most about this kind of shipment from Amazon is: I have to un-crate it to see if the tube is broken. The freight company isn't going to wait around for that inspection prior to signoff.
neighbors are real close. don't want to be THAT neighbor. Yep, it will etch and engrave and it will DEFINITELY cut right through 1/2 material in one pass..

Not sure why you are calling it a knock-off. Its an X-Y carriage with a laser attached. How else are they supposed to do it? As we know, most manufactured goods are made in China because that's where the skills are. We'll have to get used to reading manuals in Chinese instead of expecting them to do the translating as well as everything else. After all, the German, French, Italian, Japanese and Korean translations take priority these days over the English ones.
Don't waste anymore $ on CO2 or even YAG's,lamp or DP lasers, get a Fiber laser with virtual perfect beam quality, order mag. shorter wavelength, ultra high wall plug efficiencies, can be 'piped' anywhere in your lab, home or factory with a tiny fiber optic. From watts to KW's Fiber Lasers are changing the world. No need to discard your current system as you can retrofit your existing laser scanner and change out the CO2 laser with your new/used Fiber laser. You'll also need to change out the delivery optics but are available everywhere.
Myers Woodshop You might want to buy a pointing stick 25:25, preferably before you run out of fingers. And ask for steel toe capped shoes too. Just sayin.
Michael Powell because that’s where the skills are? Probably over 90% of what China builds are knock off’s or copies of technology stolen from the west or forfeited by companies to be able to have their items built in China. The reason everything comes out of China is because of the cheap labor force it has nothing to do with their innovation. You think Americans can afford to pay for a Union built Laser engraver ? Out of China $2000 out of a union plant $20,000 and even if not a union plant your still looking at $15 an hour employees to their .20 and hour. As for them writing manuals for other countries and not ours BS I have relatives in Germany that bitch about China good as much as anyone else. The US is the largest purchaser of China goods by a long shot unfortunately that is not going to chance at least not in the near future.
Roxanna-----what fiber laser mfg. are you referring to??
Why does the title of the video ask if you wasted $2400? Cost and wasting the money or how well or badly it worked were never discussed!!
it was a question for you to decide after I informed you about it in the video.
Another great and educational video Mr. Myers! Any chance you can give me some advice between buying a Chinese laser unit like yours versus a Glow Forge? I realize there is a massive price difference. Thank you!
I've never used a glowforge. I'd be happy to try one, but I'd need a sponsership!
If you want to know the details, please contact me
Your air blower / jet engine is awesome. So loud. I have four of these laser cutters in my shop, and each blower can run two machines because they push so much air.
they do move a lot but its SOOOOO loud!
Myers Woodshop cant get an extraction fan and mount it in a weatherproof housing outside?
Oh boy. Pushing a delicate laser machine like its a barrel of whiskey across the yard. Unwatchable.
it worked flawlessly.
Better than rolling like a whiskey barrel like the couriers
dedefuori You do realize this was shipped. From China. Across the Ocean. I seriously doubt the trip across the yard resulted in greater accelerations than the prior shipping and handling. By people who will never see that crate again. And with no cameras...
Why are you asking this question? I don’t know if you wasted the money.
i didnt!
Do you use your laser more than you Cnc router? Trying to decide between the two
Yes. Laser first ( buy from link in description !)
Myers Woodshop could you please tell me what dimensions this laser cuts? I need one that can do 900mm length
the bed is 700 x 500 but you can use the pass through slots to go forever long.
I've learned Chinese stuff is mainly USA stuff minus the stickers and 50% price increase so you can help pay for some other shmo's kid to go to college.
PLEASE BY the stuff with the sticker. 😢 My dad shmo said if you don't I have to go to the community collage. 😡
Hey DICK! Are you kidding me?
This was painful to watch 🤦♂️
Wow! You guys did an outstanding job, with this unboxing and review! Very thorough with explaining how to do processes and adjustments. I'm hoping that the included manual is in very precise english, and not written with synonyms, that barely make sense. A lot of foreign translated manuals are like that, and sometimes it's hard to understand what they really meant to say, and when you've dumped about 3 Grand into a product, with a high probability of destroying it, due to bad english, that kind of sucks. Anyway, thank you guys for the review! I'm seriously looking at getting this product, mostly for engraving on metals.
You’ll need some spray to mark on metals with a co2 laser. I’ll do a video on that soon
Wow its like I'm unpacking it myself. I'm from the Philippines and I'm planning to start my own laser cutting/engraving business.
glad it's helpuful.
Cool, the Chinese make things available people could never afford otherwise.
For as much as people complain about the quality of Chinese products, you bring up a valid point. Also it doesn't mean you can't upgrade things with a few parts and a little know-how.
It's amazing how cheaply things can be made if you just throw human suffering at it.
@@petermcfarland9236 The Chinese have mastered an art that the western world has chosen to ignore. They are able and prepared to make to a price point. If you want to pay little they are ready to oblige and make it cheap. You have to be prepared to put up with low cost materials, assembly, documentation and testing. Human suffering is only part of the equation and does not account for the fact that even products that are machine made are available cheaper from China. I would be happy if the western world would offer more products with a larger DIY component at a lower price so that those who do not want to pay for a 50 point check list can do without and not pay for it.
Its very evident that neither of you should be near any kind of laser #1 you do not know the correct names of the major parts #2 your excuse for the power plugs is crazy China has the same electrical requirements that we and everyone else does so why the sockets will not work again.#3no idea how to setup and maintain this device go ahead run your greasy finger up and down that laser tube when it cracks dont complain #4 you untied the head and then pushed the machine across the yard and up the ramp well if it was in alignment it aint now. and please pickup the screws before you find them in you truck tire. again another case of more money (credit card) than money...This is sad.and where did you say you went to college???
More money than brains
1) this is our first laser. Can you believe they didn’t teach us the names of laser parts in my MBA classes?! How dare they! 2) a very fast and simple google search will show you burnt up units because of the lack of Chines quality control. 3) nope. When it’s your first you don’t know. Where were you to teach us?! Can you believe it hasn’t broken?! 4) we did cut the string. We didn’t even align it before first fire that was successful. I’ve since aligned the mirrors anyways. If you think making it literally halfway around the world didn’t skew the mirrors, surely the 80 yard trip across the yard would. 5) why do you assume I used a credit card? You realize I make money from the internet which I reinvest back into my shop to make more money to reinvest (and so on and so fourth). 6). We attended Harding University and The University of Arkansas. Where did you attend? Laser U?
@@MyersWoodshop Any good video like this attracts legions of armchair experts.
@@MyersWoodshop Walter Hynson probably has several valid points, if not all valid. You guys are talking out of your ass almost half the time! Masking tape you say is electrical tape; seriously? Air assist is to blow out fires (you mentioned this twice, which makes this bad video editing too!)? Dude, have you researched this at all beforehand? Even I, that haven't researched this at all, almost (I've seen perhaps between 1-3 short videos about laser cutters, and only one of them actually explained some of it), know that is not what the air assists is for! It is for blowing away smoke, so both the beam has better focus/efficiency, and not to dirtying the lens and potentially ruin it over time! There is no lack of people pointing out your faults and errors either, so won't bother to repeat some of them... You both have no idea how watercooling works either, since you manage to put in the air bubbler or what it is called on the aquarium pump, which most people who would normally buy a laser cutter would have deducted is not necessary here! The orientation of the pump is wrong too, which on some types of pumps can be bad! It is quite possible that the laser tube will last shorter than intended because of this and other error factors! If the wiring and/or sockets on the machine isn't good enough, CHANGE IT THEN! Instead you were planning to doing HALF ASSED SHIT SOLUTIONS INSTEAD, which coincidentally, might be the same amount of work too! But then you decided to use a power brick, rendering that previous portion of the video pointless; again demonstrating YOU ARE SHIT AT VIDEO EDITING! Also, how is the power brick fireproof? Are you that fucking dense? If you are wondering why I'm so hostile, is because you answered like a fucking shithead to Walter! Sure, perhaps he was a bit rude, but have you ever wondered why your video has so many dislikes, TAKE A FUCKING GUESS! It is because you both have clearly not researched shit beforehand; or done it again, A HALF ASSED JOB OF IT! I picked another video of yours, and again, a pretty half assed job in that as well. This is no longer 2012, where this shit might have flown! Also fuck you for your clickbait title!
Wherever you went to college failed to teach you how to write a proper sentence. Holy fucking run-on Batman!
did you cut that in a single pass, how much is the thickness of the plywood? Great machine, Thank you very much for sharing.
can cut 1/2 plywood in single pass.
Mines about 4 days away! Love you videos as now I'm ahead of the game!!! Keep the videos coming 👍
You got this!
