  • "Qi" is usually pronounced "chee;" it's a Chinese word for "air," but can also refer to energy. Put the two meanings together and you get energy through the air, or wireless electricity, hence Qi charger.

  • Should mention that magnetic cable tie mounts are available, which can make managing cables with a standing desk much easier. What I did was cut up thin strips of velcro and use that instead of a zip/cable tie with the magnetic cable tie mounts, it makes things really tidy. Don't forget that if you don't have metal under your desk you can always put metal pads with adhesive underneath, or an entire metal sheet (could get a whole new desk instead that has more metal). The magnetic cable tie mounts are small enough for even thin metal frames compared to even the smallest arches that LTT sell. Also, an arch magnet holder like LTT's recently released magnet arches can be found (in silver colour) as another product; cheap eyeglasses clip, the variant that has two metal arches (not plastic).

    • Curious how EMI is not an issue with these magnetic options.

    • @@HKy0uma Same. I have some magnet cable tie mounts right near my desktop case. Haven't noticed anything unusual.... (my desktop sits on wood separated from the metal frame though).

    • Wow, I didn't even know magnetic ones existed. I'm pretty happy with my regular velcro straps for now, far more versatile and easy to use in comparison to traditional zip ties.

  • You've got yourself a subscriber. This is great content, reviewing affordable small little bits that can make great little changes to our set ups. No nonesense, straight in and adding value, all links provided. Looking forward to going back over your other vids. Also, could you not find some sticky mental that you could wrap around the head of your cables and therefore they would stick to the metallic plate easier? Cheers 👍

  • In my opinion, one of the biggest solutions I had was just buying the Studio Display. Yes, it's a hefty price, but the fact that it has remarkable speakers (for a monitor) and a webcam has singlehandedly reduced the cables I had prior to 4 (Monitor power, thunderbolt connection to Mac, external monitor light, and iPhone charger). This eased by distaste of having so many damn wires.

  • Do you have any suggestions for people who have already setup everything and need to cable manage? because ALL of this is well and good if you want to take apart your entire setup/setting up a new one but a lot of people , well already have a Spaghetti Junction 😅

    @robeagleR@robeagleRАй бұрын
    • As much as it's not fun, the best way will be to unhook everything and start over. But if that's not really an option... then I would find the largest cable tray or box that you can fit on your desk and start loading it up. Using a bunch of smaller cable management product to fix "spaghetti junction" will be really difficult. Good luck! - Robert

    • I recently sorted out the cable management for my desk, and it took a few good hours. There's no easy way to do it, as you just need to commit and take things from there. But once it's all done, it'll look amazing and you'll feel great.

  • 0:26 these are not uncommon on standard home recording studio desks. It’s annoying in that iteration because unfortunately we home music producers erroneously place a desk back to the wall, making ACCESS to such a feature untenable to adjust. It’s fine if you just want the cables out of the way and instead have a patchbay FACING you, but now there’s cables legit on the desk.

  • I really like the human centric tray but its way too expensive imo. Do you know of any other cheaper products that are similar? Ones with holes on the front and bottom. Im not a fan of most of the cable management trys on amazon.
