This video is part of my "Why I prefer a Ninjato over a Katana" videos. The series of videos contain some basic advantages I find when using a Ninjato over a Katana. I do love using a Katana and many other types of swords but for certain types of mission i would prefer using the Ninjato. I Stay positive out there & stay strong and always keep challenging yourself daily! Thank you!

I also prefer the Ninjato instead of a curved katana! A Ninjato can save the lives of me and my loved ones. That's what really matters! If a thug breaks into your house, do you think that ancient warriors wirh curved swords of centuries ago would benefit you and save your life! Let me enlighten you! No, they won't! And they won't come back to life to save you either! But several years ago, three men broke into our place, in the middle of the night. I heard footsteps and new something was wrong! I did not switch on the bedroom lights but instead, by stealth, moved over to fetch my Ninjato. As I moved to the backdoor, by the kitchen, I saw three men moving into the garage. I appeared before them in a Ninjutsu Ninja-sword combat stance and they saw me and I could see that at that moment they were scared as hell! The instantly fled the scene and dove out, almost sliding out, under the garage door. They ran away and never came again. The Ninjato has served its purpose! So my Ninjutsu is not to be historical. Although I know that within the Koga school of Ninjutsu it actually is historical. But it is not about being historical or not. It is to survive now. It is to use it to survive. It has saved my life often times and I can confirm that you don't have to travel back in time to use Ninja techniques. Ninpo is a way of life not just an aspect of history. Nor does your sword have to be curved! You can Ninjutsu now, today to save your life or of someone you love! The world is so evil today that you can use Ninjutsu on the streets, at home, at the bus stop, indeed wherever your live is in danger. And Ninja weapons are good for family and home protection! It has worked for me!
I've never understood the obsession with throwing a weapon at your enemy. Other then some spears and lances, hand weapons weren't designed for it and you're essentially disarming yourself.
Hello there. Normally we would not throw your weapon but it’s is still good to have that option. I think it’s because in European martial arts people only carry 2 or 3 weapons but a shinobi practitioner will carry multiple weapons on them and many of these weapons are projectiles. So throwing a sword at an opponent isn’t abnormal if your opponent has no armor on them. Thanks for your input🙏

But if its deflected or seized by the enemy then you lost your primary weapon.
Thats why ninjas have back up weapons

As a Ninja, you would be concealed in the bushes and amongst tree branches at night. You would be wearing dark clothing, without making a sound. If you are a true Ninja, using true stealth methods, the enemy would not see you... Duhh!
@@unknown_amazing_chap4480Well then you'd probably be better served with a poison tipped blowgun or a crossbow than this method where you almost certainly lose your primary means of protection, throwing your sword seems like a surprise last resort tactic before lunging or running away.

Where do I find a medium priced battle ready ninjato?
Katana can do this. But it is more difficult.

Yo hago algo particular. Mande a hacer un ninjato de 70cm de Longitud total con un sori de 0,8cm, y una katana de 115cm con 2cm de sori. El ninjato lo empleó como Wakizashi y la katana, le doy el usa tradicional. Es bastante efectivo y tiene lo mejor de las dos espadas.

Ninjato is a type of Chokuto that predates the current most popular shape of katana
@@SupremeSkeptic Chokuto in museums are different from ninjato. Sure they have a straight blade but Chokuto had pommels and didn't almost never had a square hand guard. Plus some Chokuto are pointy. Besides were ninja as we know them around before the X century?
@@allopez8563but what he demonstrated he can do with a ninjato can also apply to a chokuto. The point of the video is to show what a chokuto can do, which the more popular katana shape can't do as well, no?
@@SupremeSkeptic Was that the point of the video? BTW how could anyone know that historical Chokuto were used in that way? Chokuto had large hollow pommels they kind of look like Phillipino swords but in reality they come from Korean and Chinese swords but there are no books or martial schools that survive from that era. The mayority had short handles for single handed used.

@misguidedghost he could be right since reverse were never used because there was no real point and this dart technique he shows would never work because samurai wore metal armour and ever if they didn't that would still probably just poke someone.

@@drw9438 later they stopped using armor. In the book, Musashi, he says all the schools changed in the early 16th century because of this. Also, Ninja were not fighting Samurai...
