LMC Truck: Chevy/GMC Dash Installation with Kevin Tetz
Shop Now: bit.ly/KevinTetzDashInstall
Kevin Tetz guides you through the step-by-step installation of a replacement dash pad, vents and trim from LMC Truck. This DIY dash replacement is an easy way to give your interior a new and refreshed look, whether you’re changing the interior color or replacing your dash due to cracks and sun damage.
Replacing your dash pad and other components is a pretty straightforward process that requires mostly simple hand tools. Plan ahead for any other "while-you’re-in-there" parts that will be easy to replace with the dash out of your truck, and it’s a good idea to get a new Dash Pad Hardware Kit to make sure you have new retaining clips, etc. ready to go.
As Kevin mentions in the video, keep track of all the screws, fasteners and knobs you remove, and it’s a good idea to bag and tag everything so you don’t forget where anything goes. Be sure to test fit the new dash to see if any trimming is required before final installation, and have patience when reinstalling the dash bezel. This how-to guide is based on a 1981-1987 Chevy/GMC, but it should help with similar dash pad installations on other Chevy, GMC, Ford and Dodge trucks with minor adjustments.

Haha 🤣 bob ross
Now we are going to install a "happy little dash pad"
@@darthbuster lol
i was actually just watching this video and i was going to come comment that he was the bob ross of cars
Everything laid out on that table is more expensive than my truck 😂
Ha! I know right?
I've been trying to find door bezels for my 1992 s10. They are not in the catalog so not all parts are available.
Every time I order from LMC, I appreciate how affordable the parts are. You might be surprised what your square body is worth these days!
😂😂😂 You got that right my friend 👍
These videos are so good, really giving me the confidence to tackle my own 84 K10 in my garage. Huge amount of value here, thanks you guys.
Would be cool if you guys did an end screen listing all the screws and spring tabs that would be needed to do a complete install with new parts.
Yes!
You are the Bob Ross of installation videos. Thank you
the radio knobs are sick. all of it great job!
Exactly the information I needed. Just bought an '81 Scottsdale. Will be doing the interior restoration soon. Thanks!!
8:58 "easy and slow take your time" whack whack whack! 😂
haha I started laughing when i read this. was waiting for him to grab a hammer and beat that poor thing into place!
Thanks LMC Trucks, and thanks Kevin T. for showing us the "how too" on the dash.
I love LMC!!!! Their catalogue is like getting the Montgomery Ward Christmas catalog
Oh my god that whole table would be a dream kit to have . Not anywhere near in the budget for a single dad of two but I'm gonna dream and drool through this whole vid lol
Rusty Irons same here. Over $1000 in parts there. Love my truck but that's not in my budget.
Agreed
Do what I do. Buy a thing every once in a while till you have all you need.
@ 1:28 you can see the camera guy. I'm glad he got his few seconds of glory XD
Thank you! Excellent instructional video, Kevin Tates is the man. I finally know how those damn dash clips attach to the pad.
Awesome
I Unbolted The Steering Column (2 Bolts) To Give More Wiggle Room On The Gauge Bezel & I Replaced ALL The Dash Lights While It Was Out. Easy Life When You Do It Right The 1st Time!!
Silver Dollar City!! I used to go there when I was a kid! love it!
All those brand new parts LMC sells and he reinstalled that beautiful new dash and bezel with the 31 year old rusty screws! C'monnn, I'm sure LMC sells that screw kit, right?
Josef Daniel fr
Using old screws seems so odd to me aswell
I think that this is a great idea.. now that I can watch these videos, I'll be buying alot more stuff from LMC. THANK YOU
I have been looking the last year to find out who sold the dash glad to hear they have it
These videos are awesome. It's not completely full of sponsored bullcrap and it's very to the point in helpful. Awesome job guys!
And the guy doesn't look like a reality show character with a bunch of tats, and backwards hats with glasses on them.
Just bought a 1979 C-10 Silverado so great video thanks.
Tetz moving down the ladder. Hello from Franklin, TN.
I'm working on my 1986 Silverado to get it back on the road, I got the engine running but need to work out the bugs on the carburetor. Still need to replace or rebuild a few more stuff on the truck. Dash replacement video was informative, I probably likely replace the dash later on. Keep loading up videos..
This video not only gave me instructions on how to replace my dash but i can buy it from the catalog too!! This is going to make this job super easy! Thanks!
He makes it look super easy. I can assure you it is NOT.
ive been needing to replace my 1977 Suburban dash for more than a decade, In watching you its soo simple i feel silly for putting it off for so long! Thanks for the video it is getting me to do my dash!! Its gonna look great!
I agree
@@skylerhagen9960 and the new dash pad after a couple of years in the sun
We need an updaaaaate
I know it's been awhile since you mentioned that you going to change your dash can you post what it looks like and did you have any problems installing thanks
Gees! Id like for him to do my 85 gmc window rubber, new felt lining, dash pad and headliner. Makes it look so easy lol Kevin is awesome! Thank you very much for doing these vids. Now, if we could just get these lmc parts in Canada in a timely matter, that would be great!
thanks for this video, I have my dads 82 c10 custom deluxe that he bought new, in beautiful shape but dash is cracked and I have a fabric cover on it, but now I will plan to replace the dash this coming summer , looks easy, thanks
Awsome video! I've been watching for years. I came here to see what screws hold the center vent housing to the cluster trim. LMC doesn't show them anywhere in their diagrams and they didn't come with the new vent and housing. The guy who previously owned the truck died and I'm trying to finish his frame off resto. Beautiful truck, but what a nightmare. Buckets of bolts, nothing is labeled etc. But I want to thank your camera guy for the close up shot of the screws! I found them in one of the 5 buckets of bolts lol
This guy is the Bob Ross of cars
Thanks for the vid Kevin.
When are you going to give us 73-79 ford truck guys some love?
Thanks for all the work on the videos. Got a 86 CUCV and trying to keep it going and in nice shape as best I can. Lots of good info. Stan
I know you posted this comment 5 years ago. I'm sorry, but I'm about to buy a CUCV next week and will be doing a restoration. It has no AC so it just has the solid silver trim with no vents, but I cannot find a full sized dashboard replacement without AC anywhere. Can you just put the silver trim over the AC holes?
Nice super cool restoration man.
wish LMC would come out with a replacement dash for 89-90 Ford Ranger/Bronco ii. Kevin makes things look so easy...
Thanks very much that’s a very helpful lesson, do you have the same video for 1978 GMC?
great show..keep up the great work....
I had one of these kinds of dashes, and it's a big thick blob of urethane. A good deal heavier than the stock one. It did not look factory. All fine and well for some people who don't mind, but I wanted it to look as close to stock as possible. So you really need a vinyl dash to accomplish this. Your factory dash can be recovered with new vinyl, and it fits easily and will not be difficult to reinstall.
You made it look so easy puting the dash retainer's in busted my fingers up and 2 day's later
I have a 1984 c20 and am looking forward to up dating my interior to looking like new😁😁👍👍
awesome! huge help Kev! restoring my Gramps 1988 GMC 7000 series TopKick 10 wheeler dump truck. Same cab. bought all my stuff at LMC from carpet to window seal kits and all interior trim pcs. Cant wait to finish it! thank you
How did it go? The floors on the topkicks is a little different than a C10
@@TeamTopKick she came out like a parade truck! I have a video of it on my KZhead channel.
@@gsmith207 I will check it out
Need to get one of dashboards!!
on the head light switch knob removal, if you pull the knob out as if you were turning the head lights on then mash the button down the knob will pull the rest of the way out. don't forget to disconnect the battery or the head lights will be on and run the battery dead.
i ordered a LMC dashboard aka Dash pad. when putting on the bezel i had to cut the bezel from the upper left side. i did my research and i got the correct part, but dash pad is very bad built.
thank you this video was very helpfull
Thanks for the video. I noticed a Silver Dollar City key chain. Where are you located? Also, I've got a 76 Chevy k20 with 83 cab what model years dash can i buy to replace mine?
Thank you. For the parts and instruction video.
You're welcome!
hey could you do one of these on the molded dash covers in the catalog?
Thanks for the tip
Yeah just be easy and take you time and if that don't work whack it a couple times, lol great video
WOW Chevy actually did some SMART DESIGN there, with an easy to remove dash pad... That engineer must have come over from Dodge/Plymouth.
Wish my dashed looked as good as the old one you took off 😅
Hey LMC! How about replacing dash and door panels for 95 Silverado?
Great video. Thanks.
I like the gauge package
soy un amante de las chevrolet pickup silverado c10 de los 80s.. trato de recopilar cualquier ayuda en mejoras videos recomendaciones etc.. gracias por compartir tu video...
You were correct with the way you replaced your headlight switch as shown. You would not be able to remove the screws that hold the air duct in place with the bezel on because it covers them up.
This guy is great! Also funny!
Thank you brother
This sure brings back memories. I would have sworn my 84 gmc dash pad had a screw on the side to remove also ?
GOOD JOB
i have a problem with the upper right hand vent, the adaptor on the rear of the vent hits the dash cover making if impossible to remove without lifting the dash cover up, i recently had a radio installed ( due to my bad back ) and he broke off the fan switch. since he did such a poor job of it I had to fix his mess and ran into that vent problem. I watched your video and if went as somth as silk., so much for Murphy's law.
I would love to have the old dash pieces for my square body, it wasn't even that bad then again mine is 10 yrs older.
How about a series on the 1st generation s10/s10 blazer? Still a popular vehicle and I started the refurbishing on my 87 s10 blazer.
perfecto.. listo gracias broo
subbed, thanks
Can you show how to replace leaking vacuum line under dash on my 78 c20?
What dash gauge bezel and gauges are you using? I want the exact ones.
I’ve got a 76 two-tone green. Looking for a green dash can I get this from lmc?
Kevin, glad you guys are getting more vides up. Any idea what year the gm trucks like these started swapping to the metric bolts?
There isn't a definitive year that is 100% the start date, but metric fasteners started to appear on GM trucks in 1979. GM continued to use SAE and Metric thru the late 80's.
@@Lmctruck1 Can you do interior trim installation on a truck that was not originally equipped? Alot of people in my area would be interested in that.
Good job can u make video on body panel replacement without a welder
I have an 85 C10. If I purchase the dash bezel along with the aluminum face, how does that attach to the dash bezel? Is it glued on or does it come with 3m tape? Thanks
Can you show how to replace 1994 chevy dashboard please and thank you sir
i like the video. but why not keep it maroon and show use how to vinyal dye interior parts
yes!
Hey LUV! How about a replacement dash and door panels for a 95 Silverado?
Who's the blonde?
Hi mates! Are all the interior parts of these videos (red/white GMC), fit in M1008 CUCV Chevy?
Different flavored screw drivers? Ill take a chocolate but hold the sprinkles lmao! Nice truck though, i got a 1986 gmc c1500 im doing the same thing here in this video
TIP: if you are replacing the dash, remove it BEFORE taking out the instrument bezel. Makes it a LOT easier.
Makes no sense, you have to take out instrument bezel first because dash is behind it.
I love how easy it is to upgrade those squarebody pickups. Why can't they make new vehicles this way?
MAYBE CHECK AND REPLACE DASH BULBS IF NEEDED SINCE DASH IS APART
very good
I get a kick out of that...1981-88 is the same, only thing different between 81 and 88 that's some what major is grille changes
Please your help where I can get the plastic tapestry that is seen in the video in the minute 8:12 thanks for your help greetings from Quito Ecuador
Great Video but while replacing my dash with this unit on an 01 1500 i'm having trouble with the two connectors that plug into the back of the interior fuse panel that are very difficult to get to, one is blue and one is white; anyone know how those two release?
take a shot every time he says "fiddly"
I have a 86 truck you can do all the how to videos on.

What do you do when previous owners glued aftermarket dash pad to the dash
Who makes the dash? Is this dash different tan Brothers or USA 1?
