In fact I've replayed Steamworld Dig 1, just finished Steamworld Dig 2, and currently playing through Steamwolrd Hesit! ^_^ I can't get enough and I'm looking forward to what's on the horizon!

SteamWorld Heist was one of my favorite games of all time! I really hoped they would make a sequel, but honestly didn't think it was very likely. I'm so glad it's actually happening!

I've easily logged over 300 hours in the first game, it's one of my all time favorites! the fact that the sequel is coming out around my birthday is beyond coincidental!
I might get it more when I play the game, but I'm a little worried the job system is too open-ended. I liked each character having their own play style and abilities in the first game. Very charming

The first trailer talked about some kind of relationship system I think? Maybe there's ways to unlock personal skills for crew members that make them more specialized
I hope each character will also have their own abilities shown off in the next trailer. It seems to hint at character abilities at 3:20

I already knew i was getting this game... Now I want it even more!
I enjoyed the first Heist, but it began to overstay its welcome by the third act as levels began to feel less gimmicky and more tedious. The Vectron enemies in particular weren't much fun . I'm hoping the more open-ended nature of the sequel will keep things engaging. I like that there's an overworld this time, although I hope it actually provides a purpose other than a glorified level select.

That would be awesome. I know a lot of people found it underwhelming, but I really enjoyed it. A sequel that overcomes the flaws of the first game could make it as much of a critical standout as Heist and Dig 1 & 2.

All of the games take place one after another, so I don't think they'd make this a pre-quel. Would be an interesting decision though, I wouldn't mind it!
@ThaddeusSilva Not necessarily. Dig 2 released after Heist, but is set before it. Build happens at the same time as Dig 2. Though I guess we'll find out eventually.

It looks like a great sequel, but it's a shame they are not continuing any of the story from the original SteamWorld games. There's no real purpose or reason to play, it's just the gameplay mechanic/loop and that's it. Why the pirate theme? Could have done a "dig" game with "heist" combat. Make it seem like the Steambot civilization managed to colonize a section of the planet that was destroyed, most of the "water" is actually oil and they are trying to remove the oil and replace it with real water. That would make the pirate theme more reasonable. So much they could do with this, but it's instead a braindead heist game.
Or you could just...wait until the actual game comes out, before jumping to all these conclusions. I mean, 2 of the characters in this game are the children of characters in the first game, for christs sake.
