His question was more specific, what helps you decide if you like your song enough to release it? His question was effectively what work goes into it and what results do you look for? Her answer was effectively I don’t like it until I do. Nothing new was actually learned here. Also “making music” and “working on a song” is the exact same thing.

It makes sense if you are a musician. If you never drop songs, you just work them up until they are a good song. That's an artistic process. I was in a band with someone like that once. I would want to scrap songs that weren't working for me and she would want to work on them until they became something special! Add a breakdown. Add a new harmony. Etc etc. The hatred for this woman is really telling.

I feel like I’m living in a different dimension with most of these comments. She’s doing more than fine as a guest. It’s not like every person on earth is an extroverted comedic genius; some people are lowkey and speak in patterns and ways that make sense to them and their life. I’d even argue seeing generally quiet people in situations like these adds a bunch to the show in terms of variety and realism. I think a lot of men are just bitter about conventionally attractive women achieving overnight success. Like sorry, that happens, but this is not a bad episode of Hot Ones.
Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. It seems to me she's just introverted in interviews. Also, she's young so it's not like they can talk about a lot of stuff. Some of the other more withdrawn guests might be a little cold and need the right question and they will unwind about that difficult movie or the time they worked with this other celebrity. And it takes off into a more lively conversation. Maybe some people get the feeling she can't carry a conversation, and some little things would've help her look a little more engaged. Many guests compliment Sean or the show a little bit more. Some guests try compliment at least some sauces rather than only cussing at the sauces (Sean: yeah, that's the show). They also ask questions to Sean. You know, it does feel a little like she just wants to shoot the dry answer, leave it there, and Sean restarts a conversation. Also, regarding your last comment, she definitely doesn't have a cerebral approach to her responses, and it's fine because artists don't need to always be like that. She speaks like she's doing small talk, and many hip hop musicians are like that. Their musical gifts aren't exhibited in their regular speech, like it is in the case of comedians or directors or actors that ooze talent or genius when they talk. And I think this point, although it combines with the other points, isn't something you can brush off. She could say "I just happen to be introverted" but people do expect her to give it a good effort some other way. Even the most low brow guests try to share complex feelings or memories or ideas regardless of whether they make you cringe because the person isn't good at those philosophical flairs, people that aren't fluent in english try express half realized ideas, they shy people can redirect the conversation to something they're more comfortable with, and some process-oriented people fixate on some mechanical or meaningless task of their art, but they try to resonate with others. They put more of that little effort for that spark that imbues the interview with their personality. Anything that you put into the conversation trying to evoke thought or passion, really. So it does feel like overnight success could make the talking points limited, but it wouldn't be an excuse to not have a meaningful or thoughtful conversation. And here it is obvious the conversation just dwindled after every sauce. It does end up feeling like you were on the bus stop and asked a kid with a sports uniform how was practice, and he goes "good, good.... but my feet are killing me" and you never knew what sport he was playing but he already left.

Take a shot everytime she says "you know what I mean/you know what I'm saying" That being said, I think she is just young and cares a lot about how other people percieve her....despite the "idgaf" attitude she has to put on, she seems really nervous and out of her element here. She keeps asking Sean if she looks okay, etc. I think she psyched herself out with trying way too hard to keep her composure while also eating spicy food, which is obviously meant to break your composure. You know its bad when this is essentially just as focused on the hot sauce as it is on her.

But really, there have been young people on the show before and they weren't like this. She's probably shy/introverted. I've heard her describe herself as confident in past interviews. It may be her trying to manifest confidence more than anything.

yeah i’m one of them i genuinely do love spicy food but my tongue is too sensitive to it when it’s got a bunch of sauce or overly spiced too many people just throw every spice and sauce known to man
