  • As a pilot based in Minneapolis, I can say the deicing, plowing, and all other winter ops crew members do an excellent job, and are truly the backbone of the operation. We certainly couldn't do our jobs without them!

  • I've been a lead deicer at Newark international for 10 yrs now as a seasonal job. It's a fun laid back place especially when I get to train new hires over the course of 3 months before winter hits

  • I was one of the first solo de-icers on Denver International Airport, I have to admit, that was one of my favorite jobs of all time in undergrad. I got there in the worst conditions, at 3am, read books and played a real-life video game of sorts. Miss that job.

    • It is done in special areas near runways and excess fluids are collected, recycled and re-used. These de-icing stations have own drain system which makes sure no fluids go into waste and drain only into specific drains.
