I Took This Marines Rifle Course And This Drill Was The Jack Of All Trades
Rifle Training Drill
bit.ly/2CHLudt
In this video, I wanted to share my experience with my Daniel Defense DDM4 V7P rifle. The "P" in the model name stands for pistol, but I actually converted it into a short-barreled rifle (SBR).
Recently, I had the opportunity to attend a Travis Haley D5 carbine course, and let me tell you, it was a fantastic experience. I absolutely love participating in training courses like these and documenting my journey through videos for all of you to enjoy.
This particular video serves as a prelude to the content that will follow after the course. I'll be sharing more videos and insights based on what I learned during the training. The rifle I used during the course was set up in a very specific way, which I'll discuss in a future video.
What you're about to see is footage from the end of the course, where we ran what's called the Jack drill.
It's a comprehensive drill that incorporates all the skills we learned throughout the course. It was challenging but incredibly rewarding.
In the video, I also address a common question: Is the D5 course considered entry-level or advanced?

Is it bad practice to run with your gun up?
@@Eduardo_Espinoza There's "high ready" with the muzzle up and "low ready" with the muzzle down. The most important thing is to practice good trigger discipline and safety, safety,safety...
@@Eduardo_Espinoza check out some Mike Glover.
Theirs a lot of trainers that have shown up in the last ten or so years. A lot of them are opportunist, Travis is the real deal. And he’s garandthumbs Dad. Good run by the way
Too many fanboys that keep going along with this father son thing between Mike and Travis.
@@mcalixtro82 you must be a blast at parties.
@@mcalixtro82 It's more of a running joke. Hope you don't take everything in life that seriously.
@@asdfghjk2933 you mad that they actually aren't related huh
@@mcalixtro82 Nah, it's just hilarious that people like you take an obvious joke seriously. Idgaf if they're related or not.
A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.
@Ass Clapper [Ancient Wisdom exists] This guy: "Debatable."
@Ass Clapper what 💀
@Ass Clapper *_"I'd rather have a few guns dedicated to certain things"_* But that would essentially make you a "jack of all trades" so you're "debatable" part is pointless and stupid. Furthermore, the point of this video wasn't about "all trades" in regards to shooting various weapon systems but rather "trades" in the aspect of positional shooting. So again, your comment is both pointless and stupid "beta". Basically, the premise of the video is 3 gun but without the SG or pistol...
@@assclapper2231you really missed it buddy
Now do it with full gear on 😆
Doesn't matter now since everyone is training to shoot in the face and pelvic girdle to defeat armor LOL
@@Bigdaddyslasheryeah, wear no armor since everyone is aiming for the face. Give them that full torso soft target instead of a small target. Makes total sense.
@@Bigdaddyslasher who’s everyone?
@No One Of Consequence why I have a cod piece and a ballistic mask c'mon man get with the program
@@CainnechK ho?? Whose that??
Colion… I was in the military… But damn. You motivate me brother. Good job . Keep up the solid work, my brother
Noir is the man!
I’m pretty sure he’s multiple men. Definitely a CHAD! 🚀✨🚀✨🚀
As a former 11B I can say... It may seem hard at first but, with the right mindset, you will love it. Keep it rolling.
Army and marines do the same things?
Semper Fidelis, Brother!
@@MaeNeb Not necessarily "same things" per se but basically yes, same things as in various type of infantry training and qualification course are if not identical, very similar variations of one-another.
I was in Marines for 12 years and a range coach and this is spot on.
I second that Devil Dog, never been a coach but participated in a lot of rifle courses (8yrs) Hq 3rd MarDiv
I was also a P.M.I. ( every Marine is a rifleman 1st and foremost) Semper-Fidelis brother.
@@alken355no one cares what POGs did once or twice a year😂
S/F brother! Hail to the Shooters!
Nice , I'm thankful for your service and sacrifices.
I trained with Travis Haley and his team about 4 years ago and they are as technical and legitimate as it gets. Travis Haley is a true warrior that has proven himself in combat operations in multiple theaters of operations. Highly recommend training with DragonFly Haley!
As a former active duty Marine of 10 year's, I approve of this message 👌
Hell Yeah. I'm thankful for your service and sacrifices. 🇺🇸.
@@sladeb6036 Thank you, Sir.
Semper Fi, devil dog! I was in the Corps for 6 years. Best decision I ever made
@@jameswhitney259 Semper Fidelis, Brother 👊
Just another example of keeping it simple. Works for sports, working for shooting, works for many things. Work on basic fundamental things to perfection.
I like watching all your videos, but I love it when you head out to the range and do this kind of content!
This is a great shift/addition to your firearm content collection. I began following you after you posted your Scoped Carbine corse a few years ago. It would be really cool to see you continue this series with other notable training providers. Maybe Achilles Heel Tactical, Sheep Dog Defense, Osprey Shooting Solutions, etc next?
I absolutely want to take a proper pistol and rifle training course sometime soon here in Texas!
Really looking forward to this series!! ❤
Fantastic!! Keep them coming and thank you for all you do!!!
Excellent video! Not filled with a bunch of fluff - you boiled down the important parts and put them out there. Haley is a great trainer too! This drill was cohesive and realistic. I like that Haley mentions that it can be modified to suit the needs of various operators.
Always great to challenge yourself in a safe environment... keep it up!
I love your videos there is so much information. Thank you for sharing them.
Thats an awesome rifle and thank you for the awesome gun video brother
Travis Haley. My hero, great to see him get some press, thanks Colion.
I appreciate both the “wrap the individual fundamentals into a coherent whole” and the “this is just a model, modify it as you see fit” attitudes. This and similar drills can be nearly infinitely modified by rearranging the elements and or adding elements per special requirements as was said. Learning the elements by rote is okay but you gotta have flexibility in applying them.
Yes, more of this stuff!
Great stuff T%hanks for all your effort to share this content.
Thanks for sharing this!!!! This was great.
I did the D5 pistol course with Travis a couple of years ago, and lessons learned there I still apply today. Great training and instructors. BTW, thanks Travis for installing the Skimmer trigger in my G19 that I purchased from you.
Love all your content !! There will always be a vast difference between reading on how to perform a certain task or set of tasks VS actually getting out there and doing them. As well doing them effectively, efficiently & optimally. It all takes practice, effort & work. Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice does. Get your skill set down correctly first & then work on speed & efficiency.
Pretty good work there Colion.
COLIN NOIR FOR PRESIDENT
Got my vote!
Hell yes to this video. Loved this!
Excellent Video of Value. Thanks.
You motivate me Colion. Thankya!
Looked smooth. Good job. That is a quiet rifle!
S/F Thanks for running with the man!
Good run sir!!
Great vid. Keep them coming
Good job! Travis Haley is an awesome guy too have in the industry!
That looks like a hell of alotta fun!!
Nice work , loved it
TH is a Force of Nature in this world. Great Leader. I'd really like to take one of his courses.
Thanks Colion. I am getting more interested in carbine or "big pistol" drills, so this was interesting.
Great work Colion! Good to see y’all at RDI 👍
Good job training like this love it. I was in the Marines when none of this was available, and have to say really good training but will add this. Pick two weapons a long gun and a side arm pick the platform urban warfare or rural make sure you are good at long distances with both but for sure with you long gun ,then make sure your hand to hand is good with your side arm because my experience with the later is the reason why im commenting be smart move carefully and always keep your knife close
Great job my friend that was tough
Love course videos
Love this content 💯🔥
great video, I took a couple of courses at Front Sight. Best training ever had.
I agree with the full gear request
Thank you
Love this!!!
Nice. Good work my friend 👍
Love that course , going to make my own
Thanks Colion
Love this drill
Thanks.
Fantastic, thanks
Gonna try this, thanks
This is the content I want to see.
Great video!!!
this looks like so much fun
Did A great job. I truly liked this one for sure Colion. Mark from Tennessee 👍👍
Middle Tennessee right here brother!🚀✨🚀✨🚀
Love this
love your channel
Love the idea of sprinting so you're out of breath, that is crazy realistic!
I can’t wait to see the rest
OUTSTANDING LEARNING FROM A MASTER LIKE TRAVIS HALEY
Love it. More please.
🔥 Awesome brother 💯🔥
Nothing like "running and gunning" to make you find your weaknesses and correct them.
Ooorah!!! Semper Fidelis!!!
I’ve been following Travis since the Magpul Dynamics series. I would love to take one of his courses. Come on vacation time.
That is an awesome drill
That was great!
Colion ........... you do a great job buddy !!!!
Nice run!
Noticed you weren’t kitted up and still ran the course pretty well 💪🏾
Nice drill👍🏾💪🏾
This drill is a test of your fitness. We’ve done similar courses and at almost 61, damn near killed me.
Cool!
“Simple does not mean easy.” Been saying that for years.
It looked easy, but seeing you panting on the last target engagement. They would have to get a wheelchair for me by the time I made it to the cars to do a tactical reload. 😂
Lol I need to stop smoking and get my S**t together. I would reconsider the rest of the run, after hitting my safety and jumping back up! 🤣😂
Awesome!!
Very nice drill run
Great workout 👍🏼
Enjoyed watching
Excellent! TIP. When your heart rate is at high rate like after running, when you stop, take three deep breaths and exhale hard. Your stability will be much more better. Then engage.
Love it!
Flexin w that LCO, i wish Leupold still made those
Colion , you just know so much about guns and stuff, if somebody in this country knows how to stop all the senseless killings in schools it is you, hopefully you'll start to apply all your knowledge towards that goal brother
Great video. Get some!!
I love simple target layouts like this. I never understood people with 150 steel targets all over the place. You just need a few and change the course from time to time
I remember doing so many courses while I was in ain’t nothing like it. 2nd Battalion 4th Marines Heavy Machine Gunz Platoon
Semper Fidelis, Brother!
Semper Fi!!
Excellent 👍
Really good video to learn from! Plus I love how the thumbnail looks like the back of a Xbox game case.
He makes a great point about how patrol officers, swat, military would do drills differently. One version of a drill might not be applicable to you. That’s an aware and experienced instructor right there.
Good to see you and Travis hooked up again to do another class/videos! Btw is that a Mavix chair? I just got an M4 over Memorial Day 👍
Is that a B5 SOOMOD stock? Love the content. Keep it rolling.
Good foundational drill !
Great video once again Mr. Noir. I wish there were more affordable classes for the blue collar types out here. We would love to be able to do more to hone our skills, yet sometimes these courses can be a little pricey. Keep fightin the fight brother. Some day I will be a Ammo Sexual too. just gotta keep the lights on for now! lol
I can't wait till I'm able to get my handgun and ar15 once my living condition changes. Will definitely consider signing up for one of my local rifle training classes.
