  • Much as I admire the skills of these people let’s not forget that according to the ILO reports, that in Pakistan 2.2 million people die every year due to work-related accidents or illness, more than 270 million workers are injured and an estimated 160 million suffer work-related illness.

    • Yeah I saw those figures too, truly heart breaking. There's 1 of these video, were a 1 arm guy is operating some kind of press or guillotine, and it dawns on you the guy is possibly operating the same piece of machinery that took his arm just so he can earn a crust.

    • @@thallone yeah I read that same article that OP is quoting, and you are correct, the figures given in it are totally unbelievable considering that population of Pakistan is only 230 million, and the working population is only 45 million, those figures were on the International Labour Organization's website. Looking at some more measured literature, it looks like the real answer is no one knows how many ppl are killed or injured at work in Pakistan, as industry in Pakistan isn't regulated so figures on work place injuries aren't kept.

    • If 2.2 million people died in work-related accidents in pakistan, that would be 1% of the entire population of the country dying every year just at this. The numbers don't make any sense
