Just goes to show that Poirier didn't stop learning and kept adding to his craft all these years - while Conor clowned around and got surpassed.
Perfect assessment unlime most who acted like Conor was washed in this fight he had his moments in this fight and looked good but Dustin evolved and Conor did not
@@gettingoverit3080 exactly. Conor looked like the same fighter he'd been for a while. If they bring up he didn't have his "karate stance" then look what happened in the NEXT fight... broke his own legs because he didn't train leg kicks properly. It's always excuses. Poirier simply got better and that's all there is to it.
@@gsimon123 even without the broken leg, “karate stance Mcgregor” was still noticeably getting outboxed in that 3rd fight. Then got taken down and mauled.
@@bigsmall2842 yup. Totally agree. Conor literally clinched to avoid getting KOed and was trying submission lmao!
@@bigsmall2842 it's because Dustin just got better. Also, there's barely anyone in the division who can hang with Dustin in stand-up so losing to Dustin doesn't make you a bad fighter Conor definitely has room for improvement but idk man with those yes man as coaches I don't see him being able to maximize his potential
damn that second fight was painful to watch
Yeah the man just had no answers to the calf kick lol.
For real for real! I'm just watching & it hurts!
gutierrez a really sharp striker doe 💯
I found a lot of joy watching the second fight honestly
i didn’t find it painful, i actually found it satisfying. karma is a biotch
Both fighters were in phenomenal condition and had ELITE skill in this fight, the difference was Dustin executed the gameplan absolutely perfectly, his best performance to date imo
His easiest performance 👏
@@tris9596 He got absolutely cracked on numerous occasions but hey if you say so 🤣
Conor lacked the skill to defend this, even he said he was not knowing how to block it properly
@@user-zo4iz2nv5u you mad cuz little Connie's legs gave out
Conor being heavy footed is not a good thing in the octagon..
That hook he hits him with that is the beginning of the end was clean asf !!
Indeed. I thought Connor's leg gave out but it was the check hook that wobbled him, beginning of the end. Best moment of the fight
@@marco3330 0:16 his leg wobbles yeah
0:20 is the shot

Cool, you could also try looking into Jose Aldo and his methods of defending calf kicks
Prime Aldo was untouchable. WEC Aldo.
Charles Oliviera as well defended against Gaethje like that. The problem with it is that you have to stand in a very upright Muay Thai stance which they can do due to their grappling. Too easy to get taken down for most fighters.
@@Chopper51138 I feel like a lot of Muay Thai guys have good takedown defense. Fiziev is probably the most prominent Thai fighter in the ufc right now, and he has the best takedown defense in the lightweight division.
@@bigsmall2842 for a striker it’s really good but it’s definitely not gonna be on the level of lifelong wrestlers like Islam, Gamrot, Chandler, or Tsurukyan (probably butchered that name.) RDA is very old and while I still consider him really good for his age his takedowns are not as good as those guys either. Muay Thai teaches sweeps and how to defend them but there is not any wrestling, Fiziev learned that from having a sambo background. And Aldo trained with the Brazilian national wrestling team.
The only thing that hurts worse than a low kick is a liver shot. Shit is intense bro
You ever been kicked in the nuts before?
@@razzynz5664 oh yeah that too. One time I got teeped right into my dick and I thought that shit was broken
@@Justin-fd7tg Damn man, every guy in a 5km radius probably felt that one. Brutal.

@@Tippet76 have you ever got either?
Gutierrez brutalized Morales with those legs kicks holy....
Bro literally didn’t check any of those calf kick from Gutierrez . Take a Muay Thai class my guy
Conor came into this fight overconfident. Dude entered a mma fight while training boxing throughout the camp. In the 3rd fight he looked emotional and too desperate to win.
That was such a low IQ fight from Conor
2nd one seems personal
reminds me of when i first played UFC 3 and my friend spam leg kicked me cause i didnt know how to defend against it
Some of the hardest leg kicks I've seen were by Carlos Ulberg against Negumereanu. Brutal.
Full fight: m.kzhead.info/sun/d5izipWPln2Do58/bejne.html
Mans has no idea how to avoid those kicks or counter lmao horrible untrained fighter.
Charles olivera has a very nice way of defending the calf kick
People who say just check the kick have definitely never competed in any martial arts. It’s not that easy and btw when you check a kick it still hurts. It’s gonna be tough to fight a good leg kicker if you aren’t good at it yourself. You either have to smother the kicks with pressure and punches or kick with them
Infinite leg kicks
The calf kick is actually very simple to defend, you just have to defend early
Not really, it is very hard to time the check especially if you have a wider stance like Conor.
@@CBFW_KO The problem of the second guy is he just wait for others kicks...Just punch him in face to end his plan bam bam in the face
Easy with a Muay Thai stance, not with a hybrid boxing-karate stance of Conor.
@@CBFW_KO Then you make a trade and head hunt while you can. The point is you have to make your opponent consider throwing it, you don't just let them get away with it for free.
@@mowgli6345 that's what Machida used to do in reaction to low kicks to his wide karate stance
The knockout that changed McGoober’s mind on that donation to the kids. 😩😂🤣

Dude those calf kicks burn like FIRE if your opponent throws them right
It’s like getting slapped in the face over and over again
BONG!!!
So nice to see arrogance humbled. Well done Poirier!
this is the problem with boxing stances in UFC. you'll have to watch for the kicks. Not that a boxing stance wouldn't work, but this is what you'll deal with for sure.
the one at 0:14 was when Conor was totally done. 0 control of his balance, look at the 0 accuracy of his punches.
Why are they not checking those kicks?
A stance where you can check is preferred lol
it's like a whip, such an underrated technique
how is it underrated?
@@dukenukem7043 benson henderson was the only one that does it and after 200ufc ppv later fighters know it effective

@@dukenukem7043 It's underrated because people don't view it as a very damaging strike. A calf kick gets viewed differently from a strike to the head. However, it is very damaging as we can clearly see in the video L
@@Lord_of_the_Pies who doesn't view it as a damaging strike?
Made him start worrying about kicks, then smashed him with the hands.
It's funny how conor had the bladed stance earlier in his career susceptible for low kicks and later on a boxing stance with the weight on the front leg also susceptible for low kicks xD
Earlier stance his weight was balanced, he would adjust his weight accordingly. His new boxing stance only the lead leg carriers the weight. Mf was looking for a ko instead of playing with his opponents with kicks. Once he connected he didn't follow but decided to go distance🤦.
Duele de solo verlos 😰😰🥺
that last one was hard to watch
Those kicks hur man connor literally putting hes whole body weight on that leg
People sleep on Dustin's stone wall guard. Conor head hunts so much, Dustin's high cross guard was perfect for conor
Like devastating after a little bit yes, the second fight really made it look invincible, but in fact it is just the defender did not defend it. Every time I think about "calf" I think about a baby cow. The baby cow kick :D
So brutal
conor wanted to win with boxing but that stance is so weak to leg shots its amazing
Conor thought this is sparring nevermind
Mcgregor checked most of those, at least in the beginning. What people fail to understand is checking damages both parties…
Nope. Both fighters said after the fight that Conor wasn't checking properly. He said that he thinks he needed to turn his shin more outwards to check and Dustin confirmed this👍
that´s hurt dude
What's going on?
fuck it he did it to Aldo and never gets his rematch
Any of those guys could have told them to put on a dress and Ill stop kicking you and they would have complied : )

*McGregor was training for a boxing bout. Not surprised his legs weren’t conditioned.* He deserves much respect for coming back against the #1 striker after being inactive for years. He got the better of Dustin many times. Unfortunately the leg gave out. You could see he wasn’t ready for kicking. Would love to see McGregor get down to Tiger Muay Thai with Petr Yan and some others and train together.
Thats why you gotta use wrestling in mma
