I Built a Luxurious Rain Shower! - Super Hot, on Demand (on Extreme Budget!)

2023 ж. 9 Мау.

I build a rain shower from inexpensive materials. The main components are an on-demand propane heater from Princess Auto, some pipe, a rainwater collection unit and a few IBS totes. I also mill up lumber using my HD3 Norwood Portable Sawmill.
I will show you start to finish how to build an off grid camp shower using simple and inexpensive materials to make an on demand hot water shower in the woods.

"Self-Reliance" is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson's recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow his own instincts and ideas. This channel will approach self reliance from a modern perspective. and will focus on various build projects using modern amenities, and tools to build a completely self reliant lifestyle.
Many people ask me where I am from and where I film my projects. I am from Northern Ontario, Canada, and live in an area where off-grinding is easy because I have lots of land to build on and experiment with different buildings and materials. Everything I do is to try to be more self reliant, and to depend less on others. But that doesn't mean I don't like working together with other people on projects. Knowing people who have skills is part of being self reliant, and trading skills is a great way to get more things done!

    • I used to watch your videos all the time, but I watch a lot of other channels. KZhead just stopped notifying me like a year ago. That kind of sucks. But the good news in I now have a lot of videos to binge watch. Love you and your videos, you never see a problem and you only find solutions. I'm the same way, I used to think common sense was extinct until I happened upon your channel, hey they stopped recommending your brother too. And that guy from survivor...Fowler...wow. I got a ton of videos to watch. 😮😂

    • Kevin - as you were showing your pond, it made me think of a KZheadr who focuses on his ponds, BamaBass - @BamaBass. I usually have no interest in ponds. But, these keep me coming back over and over. He may give you some great ideas. (By the way - you were one of the 1st youtubers I watched and kept following. You built a cabin out of plastic wrap.)

  • Very nice build! I have an off-grid rustic shower with instant-on propane water heater at our deer camp. We use a 12v solar-powered water pump. I have the heater mounted on the outside, just like yours, but with the controls facing inward. A cutaway allows me to adjust the heat from inside. Also the heater is not permanently mounted so I can drain and remove it when the temperature drops below freezing--which would destroy the internal radiator. We use a hand wand with on-off button, which helps conserve water while soaping up.

  • I really like the cookie behind the showerhead and the little shelf you put in! All very clever! Us tall people would have to duck since the grate on the bottom, and the cookie behind the showerhead sort of cuts into the height, but what a fun treat when you’re out doors!

    @annewendt8434@annewendt843410 ай бұрын

    • They do a fantastic job. Made a shower myself using one of these and they can get that water boiling if you want it coming out if you want. Honestly a little scary if you don't have a fancy one like he does and just have a dial with no HUD. I'm sure you have over adjusted your shower temp in the shower but for these a small twist can be like 50 degrees.

    • If you plan on using it in more rugged environments in winter months though note that your propane tank will 'freeze' in North Dakota Winters. Learned that deer hunting one year because we couldn't get the buddy heater going till the tank warmed up. It was beneath zero for an extended period of time though and I'm sure a lot of environments don't see the winters that you experience in ND.

  • I gotta say, when I first saw the thumbnail, I wasn't too interested in outdoor showers, but by the time it was all done, I was seriously impressed! Using the two water totes to build the interior and frame is outstanding!! I was immensely impressed by that, and would gladly copy it if I ever were to build one. The outside of it truly looks fantastic. You did a great job. Other than that, the little touches, the light coming in through the plastic roof, the cookie that goes with the shower head, the nice wood platform and thinking rock as a nice sitting spot, all of it was spectacular and very entertaining to watch!

  • Hi Kevin. Just came across your channel. Superb design for a great idea for a shower. By the way If you are going to eat your Trout be careful what you feed them. Pretty much all fish pallets contain an enzyme in hepato-fact stabiliser Rafa. This is to stop the pallets going rancid as they contain after unfortunately if you do some research to find out that the stabilises are very harmful to human health when you eat a tractor is fixed so many of these pallets you we can see that this chemical Like smoking, it won’t affect you straight away, but over time, could potentially trigger A whole host of chronic diseases. I would recommend building a second pond stocking it with minnows Also, set up a Worm farm you can Big worms to the trout and use the castings on your garden. Just a thought

  • Didn't see what you had as a drainage, is it straight to the earth there? Dig a hole maybe? Or a pipe out to some safe place for the soap and puddle to gather? Enough to keep away from dropping down to your pond? Not sure the layout of the property, you probably have plenty of space in between. Anyway, nice build. As you stood in it I thought maybe was too short. I'm thinking if I do this thing I'd add a foot or two extra space between the two cartons. Maybe get a 3rd for the gap. Love the creativity here. Last thought, is that instant water heater rated for outdoor use? I was just thinking maybe add a small awning roof and walls over the top of it. A little open cabinet just to keep rain 🌧 water off the top and out of the vents. Etc. Great build, love watching these.
