    • where I am in the US, you take your actual fabric curtains, however - curtain rods that are mounted to the wall stay with the house unless otherwise stated on the contract, which often results in blinds or shades, depending on how they are mounted, staying with the home. It’s something to do with the legal definition of “permanent fixtures” which by default stay - I know when we listed our old home that had a mounted tv, our realtor specified on the contract that the mounting bracket as a permanent fixture would stay but that the tv would be coming with us (It shouldn’t have needed to be specified because the tv itself wasn’t actually a fixture but I guess our realtor had dealt with a buyer who pitched a fit over this in the past). I can’t imagine living with someone else’s fabric curtain choices. I wonder if Australia’s “curtains stay with the house” thing is the result of something like this, where they are considered permanent fixtures.

  • This made me lowkey want an elder playthrough. There could be some type of challenge to complete (like an aspiration before your sim passes, maybe help them find love, etc) and it would be super fun because elderly sim series/playthroughs arent common!

    @thedeckabove@thedeckabove8 ай бұрын

Does anyone else find grandfather clocks creepy? 😂 We now have my grandfather’s because he loved that thing and it was expensive but I just find them unsettling for some reason lol. I don’t know what you have left but it would be fun to see a really messy apartment like young people maybe in college living there just partying every weekend annoying all the neighbors lol.

We got to “know” them so well while you imagined the people living in this apartment and now I want to meet them 😆 My ten year old is a type 1 diabetic, we definitely have random medical supplies sitting around the house so I think it’s neat that you decided to add in things like that. For folks of all ages it is just a normal part of life to have medical devices and such on the coffee table and kitchen counter 🤍

  • this reminds me so much of my grandparents' apartment tbh. 80s building, but all traditional furniture. Also I think the recliners are a nice touch, because although they don't fit the style it seems like something they bought when they got older because of comfort, not aesthetics. very realistic tbh lol.

  • Loved this build! Very realistic. Ideas for apartments: a very small dingy apartment for a young designer trying to break into the fashion industry (with sewing stuff from HSY) and an apartment that houses multiple sims as roommates with different personalities (like a professional, a n actor, maybe one is an occult). Love these builds! Keep em coming!

  • The pink kids room reminds me so much of my gramz. Her first home that I got to stay in (my dad’s old home) she had done up the two kids rooms in themes: one green, one pink. And then when she downsized and moved into her former vacation home, the “kids” room was the lavender room for so long. Everything was lavender, and she even had fake lavender branches hanging up. This apartment decor is so familiar and comforting to me, and clearly judging by the comments, so many others.

  • Absolutely love what you did! Buttttt it would be so cool if you built the old home they were living in and clicked to move the furniture items from the house into this, might have even made it easier to map out already knowing what items you had from the old home! Such a creative concept though I love this!!

  • Live in the US, every place I’ve rented does not have curtains and you have to provide your own. You’ll sometimes get fined if you don’t have curtains up or if you’re using a bedsheet or something else.

    @mjeanp27@mjeanp278 ай бұрын
  • In Germany we will always move with curtains. I did get some weird jalousie things in my living room with the apartment, but that was only because the former tenant moved to an elderly care home and I could choose what I wanted from her furniture. There are very few furnished apartments, and the only one of those I was actually inside did not have curtains. Often, not even the kitchen will be included in apartments (tho many tenants who don't want to move a fitted kitchen out will sell it to the next tenant). But it's very much possible the apartment you rent is just walls, floor, doors, windows and the bathroom necessities (I even had to put flooring in the living room).

Changes I'd have made are: - the recliners would be in the centre pointing at the tv. - the guest bedroom would be a craft room and home office in one. - add hallway runners - add a hutch with decorative plates. • In the US, we have blinds in more apartments, curtains are BYO and you take them with yoi when you move. Alot of apartments you can't do any "renovations" like adding hooks to the wall without permission. It could differ in different areas but most just comes with blinds, kitchen and bathroom, no ceiling lights or fans in some cases

  • Oooooh have you ever tried the "moving on up" challenge ? It's kind of a "rags to riches but building in SanMyshuno edition" vibe. You start off in a crummy appartment that is empty... build it up and once it's nice , you sell it and move on to a bigger/nicer appartment that is also empty and play through to save enough to decorate it... it's a fun challenge because over the generations you go through all the appartments in SanMyshuno

  • We really do need an elder's pack. There is stuff for literally every other age group. I do understand that they don't last very long if you have the time and aging settings at default but for people that turn all that off and play the "long" game. Especially since Growing Together came out, it would be a nice touch. Walkers, bath seats, portable oxygen tanks, stair lifts, etc.

  • Dont know if you noticed Deli but both my grandmas aalways had a radio in the kitchen where they listen to the news or music, would have been a nice touch for the kitchen in this build! :) maybe something to think about if you do an old timers build again

    • My great aunt is 98 and lives in a modern assisted living facility but it's decorated in her old style furniture. You really nailed the aesthetic!

  • yeah cause here you don't really buy curtains, you buy the fabric and stuff you need (like the hoops, hooks and all that). Buildings are from various ages and so are the systems for hanging the curtains, so you need to adjust to that and the windows you have - in the old days lot of windows were custom sizes, so 'standart' curtains my not work. Then you sew the curtains at home/ask someone to do it. And if you move you take them with you and shorten them if needed. Also we have 2 kinds of curtains at once. The classic solid colourful ones you know - to block the light. And white lace ones that don't block light, but prevents people outside from seeing what's inside your home during the day.

  • I hope that later one when you build the houses, you build the family whose parents/grandparents these are!!!

  • In the Midwest of the US often blinds are in the windows of rentals, but if you want curtains you have to supply them.
