The old furniture, the cat stuff, the elderly care items…I can practically smell this build 😂 I like how you made this focused on elders and included all those realistic details
Haha me too!
i thought the same thing, maybe its just memories of my grandparents homes but it looks like it smells of cigarette smoke
I got emotional when you added the medical equipment. I just lost my grandpa to cancer and he spent his last week in hospice care. I love this video. I love when simmers build for grandparents. They’re important people in our lives
I'm so sorry for your loss. ❤ Sending love to you and your family.
I’m sorry for your loss, I was very close with my grandparents too. My pa had medical equipment, so a lot of this was inspried by that experience too ❤️🤗
My grandma had cancer and spent her last 2 weeks in hospice care as well. It was the hardest experience I’ve ever had to go through. Sending love 🩷🧡 This video was so sweet 🫶🏼
@@Itskryztal it truly is. Condolences 🫶🏻
When u brought out that british telephone box it made me think that u should do one of those weird whimsical apartments that u would see in a nickelodeon or disney sitcom. That would be fun to see
Cool idea!
These renovation videos made me realize that I’ve never seen half of these apartments before and I really just use the same ones over and again. I’ve been playing the game since 2016 too LOL
Same lmfao
YES! I had no idea this one existed. I guess I usually always go for the cheapest ones, or the most pricey ones 🤣
@@zombiehollysame! 😂😂😂
I feel this 😂😂😂🩷
Oh so I'm not the only one! Nearly every time she renovates an appartment I've never seen it
I feel like we need a create a sim video for these grandparents
We need a maximalist apartment!! I think you would make it really beautiful.
Yes yes yes please!!! I always make my Sims home funky cause why not! But I'm not a builder so I would love to see Deli do it
I feel like this video ended up being therapeutic for deli :,) just good memories about her grandparents and just seeing her light up when she managed to replicate something her loved ones would have had or done was really beautiful actually. Thank you deli:) Also you 100% nailed the recliners, my grandparents recently got two new fancy recliners and they are also that exact white color 😂
Haha love it! Thank you, it does bring a lot of joy :)
About curtains: In Germany you don't rent with curtains, you bring/buy them yourself and have to remove them when you move out.
Same here in the US
And when you move into an old building, you curse the previous renters because all the possible positions for drill holes were already used. So, you can’t mount your curtains 😅
same here in finland
In Germany we do move with our curtains and i find it so odd that in other countries they don't 😂
Same in America, it seems weird to live with someone else’s curtains 😂
Same in Denmark 😅
Same in France
Same in Norway 😂 I think Australia is the only one
where I am in the US, you take your actual fabric curtains, however - curtain rods that are mounted to the wall stay with the house unless otherwise stated on the contract, which often results in blinds or shades, depending on how they are mounted, staying with the home. It’s something to do with the legal definition of “permanent fixtures” which by default stay - I know when we listed our old home that had a mounted tv, our realtor specified on the contract that the mounting bracket as a permanent fixture would stay but that the tv would be coming with us (It shouldn’t have needed to be specified because the tv itself wasn’t actually a fixture but I guess our realtor had dealt with a buyer who pitched a fit over this in the past). I can’t imagine living with someone else’s fabric curtain choices. I wonder if Australia’s “curtains stay with the house” thing is the result of something like this, where they are considered permanent fixtures.
I’m so happy your doing that apartment! It’s my absolute favourite however the neighbours there are the worst 😂
Me too lol I always cheat my way through it .. 👀
I live in Sweden and I have NEVER heard of curtains coming with the apartment. You always bring your own here. Even curtain rods.
Yep, even the rods hahaha. (US)
I agree, once you've taken care of someone that is declining it is just a part of life. It sucks, but everyone is going to pass away. They should have more things for elder representation in sims.
This made me lowkey want an elder playthrough. There could be some type of challenge to complete (like an aspiration before your sim passes, maybe help them find love, etc) and it would be super fun because elderly sim series/playthroughs arent common!
they probably aren’t common because you couldn’t get too many videos out of it, but if you set the lifespan to a custom number or just to very long then I could see that working. I wanna do that now
Love your renos! You should go ahead and completely renovate all the community lots in this world too!
I didn’t even consider that!
I love old TV: reminds me of my parents keeping the VCR so we can watch home movies and other old VHS tapes, I can imagine these Sims having their grandkids over and showing them videos of their parents as kids :')
Yes!
The furniture reminds me of my grandmothers house when she was alive minus the cat stuff. You nailed the aesthetic you were going for. Does anyone else find grandfather clocks creepy? 😂 We now have my grandfather’s because he loved that thing and it was expensive but I just find them unsettling for some reason lol. I don’t know what you have left but it would be fun to see a really messy apartment like young people maybe in college living there just partying every weekend annoying all the neighbors lol.
Love this idea :)
Deli I feel like you’ve gotta make this family now! We got to “know” them so well while you imagined the people living in this apartment and now I want to meet them 😆 My ten year old is a type 1 diabetic, we definitely have random medical supplies sitting around the house so I think it’s neat that you decided to add in things like that. For folks of all ages it is just a normal part of life to have medical devices and such on the coffee table and kitchen counter 🤍
Very true :) it would be great to have more items in the game like this for all ages too!
this reminds me so much of my grandparents' apartment tbh. 80s building, but all traditional furniture. Also I think the recliners are a nice touch, because although they don't fit the style it seems like something they bought when they got older because of comfort, not aesthetics. very realistic tbh lol.
Loved this build! Very realistic. Ideas for apartments: a very small dingy apartment for a young designer trying to break into the fashion industry (with sewing stuff from HSY) and an apartment that houses multiple sims as roommates with different personalities (like a professional, a n actor, maybe one is an occult). Love these builds! Keep em coming!
My mom is super into interior design, and she uses a tiny table for her coffee ☕
Love! I want one for my tea and coffee too
the medical equipment was such a good touch. my grandma spent her last few years in an apartment filled with medicine and medical supplies, it brought up a lot of memories of spending time with her :”) love the build this was so creative!
Literally have to have our own curtains wherever you move to here in South Africa. It's a thing to move into a new home and the first thing you do is go add all your curtains, or hang blankets everywhere till you get curtains 😂😂
Omg I am in America but I relate so much to hanging blankets until you get your own curtains😅😂. Pretty sure my first place I just kept the blankets up the entire time I lived there lol
Can you redo the park in San Myshuno?! I have owned that pack since it came out and somehow just realized that lot existed. I like that they made it a wedding venue, but I would love to see what you do with the lot!
The pink kids room reminds me so much of my gramz. Her first home that I got to stay in (my dad’s old home) she had done up the two kids rooms in themes: one green, one pink. And then when she downsized and moved into her former vacation home, the “kids” room was the lavender room for so long. Everything was lavender, and she even had fake lavender branches hanging up. This apartment decor is so familiar and comforting to me, and clearly judging by the comments, so many others.
Absolutely love what you did! Buttttt it would be so cool if you built the old home they were living in and clicked to move the furniture items from the house into this, might have even made it easier to map out already knowing what items you had from the old home! Such a creative concept though I love this!!
This is one of my favourite apartaments and you made it look fantastic!! The story about senile grandparents was GREAT!!
Live in the US, every place I’ve rented does not have curtains and you have to provide your own. You’ll sometimes get fined if you don’t have curtains up or if you’re using a bedsheet or something else.
In Germany we will always move with curtains. I did get some weird jalousie things in my living room with the apartment, but that was only because the former tenant moved to an elderly care home and I could choose what I wanted from her furniture. There are very few furnished apartments, and the only one of those I was actually inside did not have curtains. Often, not even the kitchen will be included in apartments (tho many tenants who don't want to move a fitted kitchen out will sell it to the next tenant). But it's very much possible the apartment you rent is just walls, floor, doors, windows and the bathroom necessities (I even had to put flooring in the living room).
Oh wow! That’s facinating.
Love this build. Changes I'd have made are: - the recliners would be in the centre pointing at the tv. - the guest bedroom would be a craft room and home office in one. - add hallway runners - add a hutch with decorative plates. Your builds are always amazing and always inspire me to build too. Xxx
loving your build renos deli please continue doing them !!
Yes, in the states, most of the time, we have to put up our own curtains and even the hardware to hang them. Sometimes, they will provide blinds. In Los Angeles we have to drag around a refrigerator too because most rentals do not provide one. 😅😅
I’d love to see a sharehouse apartment with like second hand/hard rubbish furniture. It would be cool to see multiple rooms with different personalities. Also maybe a themed Airbnb style apartment for a bit of fun? Keep up the good work!! Love these apartment builds
I was screaming when you almost put the bed up on a platform😂 those poor elders would sleep in the recliners instead lol
I love this. The Jangs next door to this apartment would be good candidates for a maximalist renovation!
I have lived in 5 different states in the U.S. and I have never in my wildest dreams heard of people leaving curtains! I’ve always brought curtains with me/bought new ones! So interesting to hear about the little things that people in other countries do differently!
In the US, we have blinds in more apartments, curtains are BYO and you take them with yoi when you move. Alot of apartments you can't do any "renovations" like adding hooks to the wall without permission. It could differ in different areas but most just comes with blinds, kitchen and bathroom, no ceiling lights or fans in some cases
I love the story you told with this build!
I loved the yellow couches in that short clip! In the Netherlands we do buy and hangup our own curtains.
This apartment reminds me of my great-grandfather's house. I used to visit him 2-3 times a year before he passed away, i felt kinda emotional seeing something so familiar in the game.
My grandparents have a stand up recliner. It helps you stand up they are 87 and 86. I’m 37 now and luck to still have them. But never to old for the sims right?! 🤣 been playing that since the very beginning of the sims.
It’s such a small little thing but a whole lot of that medical equipment or pack you want would also be used by non elderly people. As a young disabled person my house has the out ugly sit to stand reclining chair too. Love the video!!!
Curtains in the US, at least where I live: many rental apartments will have vertical or horizontal blinds that installed by the landlord. I've never lived in a rental where fabric curtains came with the lease except the one time the previous tenant left a curtain in the kitchen window
I love this reno and I’m binging the apartment renos while I’m sick. But I’ll say if I could change one thing I would put the dishwasher next to the sink, especially for elderly folk. It’d be a lot for them to rinse the dishes and then have to turn around and walk over to the dishwasher! Just a suggestion ❤
Get to Work came with railings for anyone interested, it's in the wall sculpture category. :))
I’m obsessed with ur channel and binge watching your playlists! ❤️ I’m so excited to play in this build!
I (in Sweden) have never seen included curtains for any kind of property, aside from renting fully furnished which is very rare. Heck, aside from bathroom lights and some kitchen lights, you're expected to bring your own light fixtures.
Oooooh have you ever tried the "moving on up" challenge ? It's kind of a "rags to riches but building in SanMyshuno edition" vibe. You start off in a crummy appartment that is empty... build it up and once it's nice , you sell it and move on to a bigger/nicer appartment that is also empty and play through to save enough to decorate it... it's a fun challenge because over the generations you go through all the appartments in SanMyshuno
rentals may have blinds where I live in the US, but curtains are usually bring your own, install them yourself, and cover up the holes before you move out...
This is one of my fave apartments in the game! I always love here!
I have the cocktail stands from west elm in my upstairs lounge! They are perfect because I just have poufs instead of a coffee table for a more relaxed vibe😊
missed your apartment renos so much 🤍
I’m America we bring our own curtains and take them when we leave. A lot of places will have blinds but never curtains.
you utilise space so well in your apartment renos!
I really love this concept, I haven't seen anything like this done before and it feels so grounded in reality
This is amazing!! I sort off know about this as I volunteered for a few weeks at a nursing home in Glenfield NSW.
We take curtains with us in the US. Love making the apartment for older adults!! The whole build was great!
Deli, this is so beautifully done! This apartment feels real and lived in, it's got so much character. I love your builds for this, they're always very thoughtful. Thank you!!
An elder focused kit would be interesting. I could make my own retirement community! I am really enjoying these apartment renos - it shows I haven't played most of the lots in San Myshuno 😂 Also it's pretty common where I live in the states for apartments not to come with blinds or curtains
A dark romantic/plant filled witchy vibed apartment or house would be awesome, too! for the plant lovers house hehe
This build is beautiful! I love the aesthetic!
In Australia you leave the curtains? A German here, we take everything, lamps, curtains and the kitchen. Then only thin left is the basin in the bathroom. Sometimes you can buy stuff like the kitchen from the previous person and sometimes you rent the kitchen too.
I use the dine out paneling so much, actually I use paneling in general a lot because all my builds are like end up a modern 70s/mid century style or Japandi style
40:48 Goodluck sleeping with that old man in the painting staring right at you. 😂
Could you please do a maximalist wheelchair accessible apartment. When simmers make accessible spaces they're usually minimalist, but I love bright colours ❤
Yay! I love these renos and really look forward to them. They’re always so fun and creative
Yayy Deli I’m loving these reno’s so much!
Love this. I love all your modern builds but it's nice to see something different ❤
in the beginning im like, nah i dont rlly ike this house when she does the final walk through OMG BUT HOW WHAT OMG I NEED THIS HOUSEEE
In the USA, most places will come with blinds but if you want curtains you have to bring your own and take them down when you leave.
Love this, it's spot on!
They're called "manila" folders because the paper is made from manila hemp (aka abaca), a plant native to the Philippines 🍃
Love when you have a family in mind that is not the usual family u build for and you discover all these items u rarely use and the build just comes alive! The best kind of builds.
These videos are so cozy 😊
Absolutely love these apartment videos
It came out so awesome! Love it❤
Im germany Apartments usually dont have anything in them except the bathroom apliances. So you bring your own kitchen, lamps and curtains and everything. So when you move out you have to remove everything and even fill the holes in the wall. Quite the ordeal 😂 Sometimes if you look for the new rentees on your own you can sell them your old kitchen and stuff you dont want to take with you when you move out thou.
This made me so so happy!
When you talked about the sims getting around with walkers it made me think. Canes and walkers should've been included in growing together. Like ts3 generations had canes and it was so fun
We really do need an elder's pack. There is stuff for literally every other age group. I do understand that they don't last very long if you have the time and aging settings at default but for people that turn all that off and play the "long" game. Especially since Growing Together came out, it would be a nice touch. Walkers, bath seats, portable oxygen tanks, stair lifts, etc.
The medical equipment made me think of my granddads old set up 💛
❤️❤️🤗
Loved the story of this apartment!
Love your apartment reno's, and I just realized how much I need to clean my screen. Everytime your pic moves I find another place I either need to clean, or a blackhead problem you are having, LOL I know its my screen.... off to get some cleaner before I can finish watching, LMAO 🤣😁❤
I just love the desert deluxe kit a lot, especially the curtains ❤ We really need more apartments 😊 Since we have all the kits I never used cc again
This is perfect timing! I just moved to a modern apartment and own more unique antique, secondhand, or crafted furnishings 😆 My old apartment was a Brooklyn brownstone, so it all fit beautifully. It's fun trying to make this apartment more cozy. I wish. I had the growing-together rugs in real life! They are my favorite. The recliner is SO realistic. I never think to put those in my builds.
Ah yes! Always is a proces when you move to blend the furnishings with the building
I love when I refresh yt for a new video to watch, and a new deli video pops up 🔥
As someone who had a grandparent live in home while their health was not great, it was so amazing to see the way you did this build. I would love an elders pack
I love your storytelling skills
real talk, in Japan, it's BYO curtains and cieling lights. most places don't have a dryer
Love this expensive bougie vibe! Hope you make more builds like this!
Oooh, a new apartment renovation! ♥ I'm excited! 😊😊
Love how different this one is! Will you renovate 701 Zenview? I’d love to see what you come up with for a 2 story apartment :) Also would love a reno using new custom content!!! Hey harrie interiors are next level 😍
Yay!! I love how you've let elders have the spotlight for this video😭
Yes! They need more spotlight!
I rent in the US and yeah it's BYOC (bring your own curtain) but almost always the rental will already have blinds. I got lucky with the place I'm renting now having really nice wooden blinds, but had to get blackout curtains for the heat. it's just too hot to not have them. especially with single-pane windows. another rental special lol.
Love your reaction to the fan it’s “Cool” 😂🤣🙃
YAY! So excited to watch 👏👏
Dont know if you noticed Deli but both my grandmas aalways had a radio in the kitchen where they listen to the news or music, would have been a nice touch for the kitchen in this build! :) maybe something to think about if you do an old timers build again
You have such a gift! Love the apt reno series!!!
My great aunt is 98 and lives in a modern assisted living facility but it's decorated in her old style furniture. You really nailed the aesthetic!
Ah love it!
yeah cause here you don't really buy curtains, you buy the fabric and stuff you need (like the hoops, hooks and all that). Buildings are from various ages and so are the systems for hanging the curtains, so you need to adjust to that and the windows you have - in the old days lot of windows were custom sizes, so 'standart' curtains my not work. Then you sew the curtains at home/ask someone to do it. And if you move you take them with you and shorten them if needed. Also we have 2 kinds of curtains at once. The classic solid colourful ones you know - to block the light. And white lace ones that don't block light, but prevents people outside from seeing what's inside your home during the day.
I hope that later one when you build the houses, you build the family whose parents/grandparents these are!!!
In the Midwest of the US often blinds are in the windows of rentals, but if you want curtains you have to supply them.
