Oligarchs: The Movie (Russian Billionaires documentary style video)
This video is about the rise of Russia's oligarchs - the powerful billionaires who combine wealth and politics together. Our story focuses on three main characters: Boris Berezovsky, Roman Abramovich, and Vladimir Putin - and begins during the USSR's abrupt switch towards capitalism after Yeltsin won the election. During this oligarch documentary style video, we'll explore the lifestyle of Russia's billionaires, how they acquired their vast amounts of wealth, and the conflicts & consequences of combining business with politics. The rise of the oligarchs is genuinely a crazy and fascinating story of wealth, influence, power, & corruption. Enjoy!

Sometimes I post educational courses, sometimes crazy stories like this. 😂 Everything is normally linked to business / finance / marketing, bit I guess the audience is kinda fragmented with people who've subscribed for different things? And so they don't go back and watch other videos maybe... I'll just have to keep grinding and push through that though! Thanks a lot for your support man - really appreciate you watching.

  • As a russian, I want to give some critique. There are several mistakes in this video. 1. Berezovsky's influence is exaggerated. Mostly, by Berezovsky himself. He wanted to be seen as some puppetmaster, and sometimes he made his schemes successfully, but mostly it was like the story of Moris Nemtsov. Nemtsov in the 90s was the most successful governor in the country. Even Margaret Thatcher has visited his Novgorodskaya Oblast. He was to be Yeltsin's successor. His ratings were so high, that it's been decided to move him to Kremlin, so the new government of reformators would be seen in positive light. The decision was made, and Tatyana Dyachenko, Yeltsin's assistant and his daughter, had gone to Novgorod on car. Somehow, Berezovsky had learnt about it and gone to Novgorod too, but on a plane, so he would be the first to tell Nemtsov about his promotion. He had come to Nemtsov's office and started saying things like, "Borya, I'm the one who put you in charge, let's make it worthwhile, you owe me", but Nemtsov called his bluff and poke fun at him. 2. Oligarchs had supported Yeltsyn not because of the influence, but because they could have lost everything they'd built. Yeltsin himself hated Berezovsky to the guts. Yeltsin's competator, Gennady Zyuganov was some hardcore communist, who hated capitalism to his guts. It's not the media that made Yeltsin's victory possible, but Yeltsyn himself. He ended the First Chechen War, which dropped his ratings in the first place and left our society traumatized. He had changed the government completely and provided it with the course on staggering economical reforms with young politicians in charge. He had made a deal with the third candidant for presidency, Alexander Lebed, who had gained in the first tour amazing 14 percent, by providing him the position of head of the Security Council. 3. It wasn't Berezovsky's decision to put Putin as a president. It was the idea of THE FAMILY. That's how the press named Yeltsin's inner circle. The most influencial members of the circle were Tatyana Dyachenko and her husband, Valentin Yumashev, who had written book about Yeltsin and after that ran his office for several years. It was them, who decided that Putin should be successor. In return, they'd been guaranted with safety from law enforcements, some sort of immunity and lots of cash. Recently they've built a giant museum called "Yeltsin's centre", which purpose is to celebrate Yeltsin as a hero of modern "free" Russia. The museum is sponsored by the government. Millions of dollars are spent to keep it afloat, while half of russians lives in poverty. It is interesting that one of the museum's contributors is Vladimir Putin. 4. In Russia, every decision is made in Kremlin, so the oligarchs are living in constant fear that they can lose everything in the matter of second, if Putin doesn't like the way they run business, although on Putin's deeds, you can always watch videos of Russian Opposition Leader Alexei Navalny or google about Panama Papers and Pandora Papers. Basically, he is CHAD amongst oligarchs in every way imaginable. 5. I'm surprised you haven't even mention the story of Alexander Litvinenko, who was Berezovsky's advisor. Google it - it's an interesting and scare-shitless plot.

    • You don't need amazing editing at all - I actually think the most important part with these videos is telling a good story that your audience is interested in, but you can do that with very basic clips. Also, remember that subscriber count can be deceptive - you DON'T need millions of subs to make money with youtube at all. In fact even with a few thousand you can still make quite a nice income from it if you monetize in the right ways. :) So I'd definitely encourage you to go for it with your channel! Best of luck!

These are absolutely staggering stories! All of them. Some, I already knew about like Coke's story. Others, like this one, not so much. These give a whole new meaning to "rabbit hole" and, it seems that, with each story, it just keeps getting weirder and weirder. As Jim Morrison (another crazy story) once said: "..this is the strangest life I've ever known."

  • There is an incredible level of craftsmanship and artistry in this video, as well as your previous works. Your editing skills are probably some of the very best on the entire platform, you're almost like the Sam Kolder of documentaries. My only constructive criticism is that I think your thumbnails could be a little better. I'm not saying this to be negative at all, but I think if you improved your thumbnails even 10-20% so that they match the quality of the video, your channel will explode. I didn't click on your videos for the first few weeks I was shown them because I assumed from the thumbnails that your channel was an inferior version of Jake Tran's. Of course, after finally clicking one, I found your videos are 11/10, and you have very much your own unique voice and style. I've been working hard lately to improve my editing skills, but yours are truly next level, and are definitely an inspiration for me to continue striving much further.

    • Hi Jonathan, thank you very much for the thoughtful feedback, I really appreciate it! Do you have any examples of channels that you think have great thumbnails? I completely agree it's an area I need to improve, and would love some inspiration if you have any examples in mind. Thanks again for the support - and best of luck with your channel too!

      @MagnatesMedia@MagnatesMedia2 жыл бұрын
    • @@MagnatesMedia Thanks man! My favorite thumbnails are Peter Mckinnon's, though his work is very different from yours of course. I think Jake Tran's thumbnails are great and quite similar to yours, but for some reason they just look like more time went into designing them, and the extra 20% of quality just makes you want to click more. Regardless, I think your channel is bound for a million at some point, the question is just how long it takes. Hopefully we can collab someday in the future once my channel grows further. Take care!

  • Thanks for this video. I had tried to follow closely the Russian debacles in London - beginning when Litvinenko was on the front pages after being poisoned and died a slow and painful death in the UK in the early 2000s. Berezovsky was very vocal and hostile towards Putin after exiling Russia, seeking asylum in London and I was wondering what the fuss was about - this piece puts it together nicely. I would guess Abramovich has also made some pretty serious enemies.

    • Abramovich has already cleaned his conscience... he frequently travels back to russia and helps out. in the early 2000s he had to reinvest his money he stole from the 90s and rebuilt an entire city... just recently billionaires have to reinvest their profit up to 15 % to the state.

In 91/92 he has already fucked so many people, he needed cover from Chechen's. He was lucky in 6/1994, got his revenge on Sylvester in 9/1994. Next he tried to fuck with Volgovskaya OPG and other groups in Togliatti ..... was lucky once again. Then pulled strings to get them arrested for while, and later kept their leaders under 24h surveillence by govt agencies ....... somehow, the day Dmitry Ruzlyaev was murdered, there was supposedly noone tailing his car.
