@@MrYughurta just bought a used one last night for 400 canadian unlocked. upgraded from a s7. only thing is its bigger and heavier so it will take some getting use too but I love it.
We'll make it simple: Max protection but slim: RhinoShield (excellent on concrete) Max Protection with bulk: Otterbox defender (excellent on concrete) Protection with grip: Tech 21 Best Wallet Case: Tech 21 Best Case For Underwater (salt or chlorine) LifeProof (but its bad on drops on concrete) Screen Protection: You don't need it. Gorilla Glass 5 all you need. Only if you get turned on by face planting your phone on rocks, then Tech 21 bullet shield screen protector. Boom!!!!

The supcase beetle unicorn with the port protector is what I use all the time when I'm out working with the elements.

Thanks Josh for all the info. Helped me make a decision. I got the iblason full body with screen protector built in and I must say that it scratches easily. Just from a few hours in my pocket it is scratched all to hell. What kind of screen protector do you use?
I just updated from a g4 to a gs9 phone. I purchased an otterbox again because my g4 seriously still looked new. I'd take the case off a couple times per year to clean out dust & such as needed, I carried mine in side pockets & used at work which was a dirty environment. The dust protectors held up till late 2018. The case & ph were about 5 ish years old. Otterbox did really great for drop protection as well.

What screen protector are you using? I love my defender cases and that is my first curved edge phone. Was looking at the dome and wanted to make sure they work together. I work in a body shop so dust is at a high . Thank you in advance.
Just got a S9+ and got the official Samsung Rugged Case. It has a kickstand and textured back. But one thing you didn't mention and I'm sure would be hard to test for all those cases would be Usability with Charging Stands.
OK...so after seeing this reveiw I decided to give the UAG monarch case another look. The UAG has better buttons, better protection for the back, better look and the bottom is cut slim so I can plug in my type C to USB adapter without removing my case. Because of this review...I switched to the UAG monarch. I love my tech21 but I like the UAG more.

Thank you, I've always used the defender, and was looking at getting something with the built-in screen protector witch defender usually has, seeing comparison of others revitalized the defender but the i-buprofen is new to me, lol! Great review.

have you ever tried a love mei case? the only cons with it, for me, is the built in tempered glass breaks easy. also need a special tool but i keep it on my keychain so i always know where its at
I havent used a screen protector on my edge 7 the 2 yra of owningit, and screen still looks so good. They make them better to where u dont need them.

The Supcase and Iblazon look like the perfect contenders. Owned Otterbox Defenders and Lifeproofs, but Ottbx dont make screen protectors for the S9s anymore which is a deal breaker. And I'm certainly not keen paying $100+ for a lifeproof either anymore as it doesn't get dropped in puddles, mud, snow and all that xtreme crap. All I needed was good drop protection and to stop my screen getting dirty. Thanks heaps for the review!

I use a tech21 case but from this group I would pick the UAG. Great case protection and a fantastic look...imo.

I have the last one. Otter box defender. If you love your phone....THIS IS THE ONE TO GET. PROTECTS LIKE A TANK WITH ARMOR.
with the otterbox defender you need to be careful of what screen protector you get, it may not stay on, like it would look like its fine but it can peal the screen protector up
Most protective phone case brands, with 1 being the most protective. 1. Otterbox 2. UAG 3. Spigen If you disagree, you can rearrange the order or put in some other case brands. I had a Note 4 from Samsung, been using it with a UAG case since day 1 and 4 years later I took it out and it looks brand spanking new. I'm using a UAG with my LG G7 right now as we speak.

I got to catch a 10 deal for an otterbox symmetry case on Amazon for the s6 (i know its super old, my s9 should be here this week) but it was super amazing, super protective and i have dropped it...thrown it and raged with it and nothing has ever happened to the phone
Spigen is number 1 in my book. Great protection for the money and not over done like Otter. UAG 2.

You can always go to settings and turn up screen sensitivity for screen protectors. Makes it to where it doesn't have any problem with touch sensitivity

i would avoid the supcase with built in screen protector as the holster's clip is very flimsy and i had to buy many as it was thre only holster case with a built in screen protector on the market at the time

So I'm trying to find a case kinda sorta like the old s6 defender thick front and back and on the back of the case has something to put around you belt know any for the s9 working in the oilfield you need that protection
I use an otterbox defender for my s9+. It's really good but it does not come with a built in screen protector

The otterbox defender for the s9+ is screenless! You have to buy a screen separately. 🙄

In the settings you can change the sensitivity of the touchscreen, which is done for when you add a screenprotector. Don't know if you had it on already or not?
No, I meant: with the Galaxy S9 phone you can go to settings - advanced settings - touch screen sensitivity. Switch that on and the phone increases the sensitivity to touch with your fingers. So if you have a screen protector and you notice it messes with the touchscreen, just turn that on and the phone will be more sensitive to your touch. I will check out the orange peel as screenprotector though, thanks!
Can you actually explain why you think the tempered glass protectors are junk?
Not all of the tempered glass covers do this now though... Have you heard of Whitestone Dome? From what I've read, it's really good tempered glass. full adhesive across the entire screen. oleophobic glass, and compatible with a lot of the (newer) cases (like the otterbox defender). None of those problems you've listed either :)
Ohhh I gotcha. I decided to go with the Otterbox Pursuit for my s9+ if your'e interested in that. So far it's a really good case (though a little more costly) I like the clear back to show off my phone color. Supposedly stronger than the defender series, but also thinner and lighter + lanyard option. Going to pair it with the Dome since most say it is compatible.

Not much cover about real purpose of the case- protection of breaking front glass. 9s plus has sticking out front glass, so some of the cases may not protect when phone is dropped.
I had the defender and it didn't work well with screenprotectors, so I grabbed a poetic revelution.

DO NOT buy the I-blason built in screen protecter case. I have it, and the front scratches extremely easily. My fingernail scratched it. I would not reccomend. Had to buy a new one after a month. I'm rocking my old Mous bamboo case right now. Works great.

Lots of those look like they barely protect the phone I reccomend that ghostek waterproof case works great drop my phone in it all the time it hasn't broken yet

I gave up on things like OtterBox and rugged cases. They are far too large for my liking. That, and when I had an OtterBox with my old S7, it broke on my phone. I bought a cheap $7 Body Glove case and it was FAR better.

Jonathan Strawser Get a Tech 21 bullet shield screen protector. Only if you like dropping your phone face down. Other then that, you don't need it.
Use a whitestone dome glass for tempered glass, or a iqshield liquid skin for a film screen protector. Both are full adhesive. Whitestone dome glass is expensive, bit trust me, it's worth it.

I like to use Nova Launcher where I can customize the home screen and icons. Also I download a theme from the Samsung Store to change what the menus looks like.

@@BaneTech - They work. They're thin but very protective. The edges have their patented FlexShock technology so the take a hit like few others can. Drop testing exceeds most case makers...mine has three layers with the FlexShock and a 10 foot drop test. I have owned one for my S7, S8+ and now my note9.
I'd like to see them make some cases with non plastic backs.
@@BaneTech - To each their own. I love those wood backed cases but they get marred up to easily. My phone is mostly in my pocket so I prefer the tactile feel of the plastic. Everybody uses their phones differently so more case choices is a good thing. The most important job of a phone case is to protect the phone...tech 21 does a great job of that...imo.
