Next you'll want to do a marathon well done i could only dream of such a score or living that long?
I got 42 right and I am only 72. I look forward to 91.
91 and using social media 😂 But may you live on to see more years... You aint 91 surely?
@@patrickmccloskey4306 I got 42 right and I'm a mere 66. Can't imagine what kind of fecked up world this will be in 25 years when I'd be 91.
Well done!
I am 69 and I got 46/50. This has little to do with IQ. It is based on life experience and education....endless curiosity, self taught and a formal education, which is not everything.
43 out of 50 also 69. Agree based on experience, education and wide reading. A lot of reading
I scored well, as well, BUT did you notice that the questions were basically in one field? No Math, no biology, etc.
right, i got 42 myself. i'm dumber than dirt, but i like history. if these were modern science or math questions i'd be at the bottom of the list, lol.

Overlord!
That one, and the incorrect answer for the Dark Ages amused me the most.
I never notice it, but it was the closest answer.
@@philiprife5556 My father was on Utah Beach .. it was Operation Overlord.
Big difference between being well read and having a good memory and having a high IQ.
It took me a long time to figure that one out. Everybody told me I was smarter than people I KNEW were smarter than me! An eidetic memory doesn't always translate into advanced reasoning skills.

Having a good memory, really doesn't help with algebra. One must know how to apply knowledge across the board and solve problems. People that can integrate all brain functions, just might have a higher IQ.
Absolutely correct. Typical of these quizzes.
38/50 - This was mostly a memory test, so not bad for a senior citizen I'd say!

Nice Quiz. BTW it's Operation "Overlord" rather than "Overload"
That's what I thought. I said Overlord out loud and then saw Overload and was confused.
I was going to say same .
Me too. 41 correct answers.
Yes indeed
😮😮😮😅😅😅😮😮😅
Well, I'm 50 and managed 40- but it doesn't depend on your age as much as what type of knowledge you've been exposed to, and how much you read and/or travel.
Yep I agree. where your interests are and how much do you read.
Totally agree
those are all things that makes up your IQ and memory
36 correct 😊14 wrong
I agree. It's more of a memory test than an IQ test.
I scored 44. I am a 50+ Swede and think this has little to do with IQ. Good teachers, though, and a general interest that motivates reading. I have done lots of IQ tests and not one thing here would have had anything to do with it. Intelligence is about understanding how to solve new problems, like maths and fault-tracing, not about remembering what you have learnt. But it is intelligent to read and learn 🙂
Really enjoyed taking this quiz I’m almost 69 and got 46/50 2 were I year off of the actual dates…. I wish my grandkids were here when I took it It’s all about the education and reading we did growing up. Children now a days would struggle with this quiz They are not given a thorough education and play video games where we used to read!!!
I'm 65 and I got 48 answers right. That score has little to do with IQ. I was fortunate enough to have an excellent education and an excellent memory plus I love to read!
Great job
You sound a lot like me, except I'm 66 years old, received an excellent education, and am an avid reader. I got 13 questions wrong.
Well done. I only got 45. I'm 84. Can't believe I missed the gestational period of elephants. I'm a Republican; I should know that.
I just turned 73 a few days ago and got 41 right. So much of what I know isn't because of my IQ. I've always been a reader of different genres, I love learning about new places (If I read about one in a book, I have to stop and Google it) and a decent public education. Even just watching interesting little You Tube videos will teach you things. I've learned all about Saville Row and how mens' suits are made and how Merino wool is becoming scarce. Add in being a lover of crosswords and just talking to people about different things and there you have it. Don't ever let someone chastise you for watching You Tube.
Me too!
I’m 80 and got 36 answers. Of course, some were guesses that I got right. Not bad for someone with just a high school education! I’m proud! 😊❤️
❤
Well done. I'm 55yo and I was stoked that I got 35 correct and I had a few guesses too. I also finished school in yr 10.l so I'm feeling pretty happy right now 😆 I'm definitely smarter than I thought I was 🙏😊
Well done, I'm 60 and got the same score and we might have even shared the same guesses.
The main thing is not how smart you are but how you stay honest. I don't know how many I would have gotten right? I quit counting when I reached 40 and the red bar was only a little past half way?
its not too late for u to get a first degree
This was ridiculously easy, and the gentleman mispronounced his way through most of it. Also: "Overlord." What a low bar we have in our country.
There were a few general knowledge questions, concerning (I think) chemicals, but you're right in general. Almost all of the questions were ones you should know from high school.
Agreed- see my comments. Education not the same now.
I'm 73, and Brasiliam. Also I'm prounde of my memory, education and being a good reader of GeoPolitics. Thanks ✨🎶🤓🇧🇷
I’m 72 and got all but two correct…. I credit good teachers 60 years ago!
Yeah. The quiz was mostly history you should have gotten in high school. My score was 45, and I'm 77 years old.
I'm rapidly approaching my 92nd birthday and was pleasantly surprised to get 40 right. 🙂
Yeaaaaaa for you sir! You are one smart cookie!!! I 66 and got 39 out of 50. Lucky to have gotten that! Sure hope I make it to 92. You are a lucky man. Take care and I wish you the best in life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wahoo!!!😊😊😊
43 out of 60-- not to bad for 82,and a drop out. Hated history , but love it now. Should have went with some instints, oh well...
71 years old and got 50 right. I even got the one right that had an incorrect answer listed. It was “Operation Overlord”, not “Overload”. I wish these quizes were a little more difficult. I think the average high school graduate should be able to pass this one.
I only got 45, but you're spot on about how easy almost all the questions were. Anyone who passed high school should have gotten them.
So having 100% up to question 11 when Overload was given as the answer instead of Overlord, I pretty much wrote this off as twaddle.
I got 42, but I believe the answer for 11 is wrong, so It should be 43. I'm 67.
Joke
LOL
Completely agree
yup he also needs some help with pronunciation I barely made it through high school and got 41 with 3 guesses
Getting a high mark in a quiz on General Knowledge is not the same as having a high I. Q. 😊. General knowledge quizzes rely on memory , and the ability to recall , i.e., remember , knowledge . 🦉📖😊. I. Q. Levels are an indication of a person's ability to solve problems : typically puzzles they haven't necessarily seen before . If a person has been introduced to I. Q. puzzles generally , e.g., as a child, they will do better later than if they have NEVER seen an I. Q. puzzle before 🤔. Hope that explains the difference ! Best Wishes from "Brainy England" ! ( and modest with it ! 😊) 😊🇬🇧📖🦉🎈💕📖😊🇬🇧
I agree.
Very right.
So in other words, you failed miserably? 😂😅🎉🎉🎉
with adequate EQ.. IQ is worthless
Yes, you are right, on the subject that good general knowledge is not the same as high IQ. But for me, at my age, it was quite pleasing to find the memory banks are still okay, at 75
😂😂 Operration 'Overload' indeed !!! 😂 oh my ...how funny !!!
I am 74. I scored 35 and I am satisfied with that. 😊
43/50 However, I read somewhere that I.Q. is not a measurement of what you know; it's a measurement of how you think. This was more of a memory exercise & it was Fun. Thx!🤓
yes
Right. A high IQ will not help you with this quiz. It is just memory that does it.
Yes- and a capacity for taking different perspectives, detecting patterns etc.
I agree. I got 7 wrong
IQ (in theory) measures how well you learn. This is highly contentious, though. Some say it's fairly meaningless, while others think the opposite.
Only missed the ones with dates and I'm 73 . I enjoyed it . The quiz master struggled a bit with the pronunciation of all the European names

Happy I scored 34. General knowledge is more a measure of how well read and travelled you are rather than IQ.

I scored 42 out of 50. You have to update the question on "Who was the longest reigning monarch in the world?" The correct answer is Queen Elizabeth II of England, who reigned from 1952 until 2022. and the name of the D-Day landing was called "Operation Overlord" not "Operation Overload".
I thought Queen Elizabeth II! I was surprised to get it wrong
@@linpollitt8950 You got it right.
@@linpollitt8950 Me too! Guess I scored 41 then.
Queen Elizabeth ll is the longest serving monarch in Great Britain at seventy years. Louis XlV is the longest serving monarch in the world (France) at seventy two years.
Yes, I was surprised to get that one wrong - but now it seems that it was their answer that was wrong. Extra point then?
Score of 42 here. I missed - Hattie McDaniel (I should have gotten this one, as I've read how she was segregated at the Oscar ceremony) - Mount Elbrus - Elephant gestation - Apple IPhone - First Smartphone - Ribena -Vaseline invention - Wright Bros 1st flight
Good stuff. I'm 54 and got 31 correct. Mainly I didn't know the stuff asking specific years because...reasons.
I believe Elizabeth II ended up reigning longer than Louis XV
Everyone forgets Subhoza II of Swaziland, but he was officially a monarch for over 80 years- albeit he was crowned at a mere 4 months (seemingly as soon as he could sit upright for someone to hold the crown above his head).
Oh... Did it say European in the question? I don't recall...

No. Elizabeth reigned for 70 years; Louis XIV was 72.

Auroras are not caused solely by solar particles interacting with the Earth's magnetic field. The magnetic field guides them into the Earth's atmosphere along the field lines, whereupon they interact with the electrons in atoms of atmospheric molecules causing them to quantum leap to higher orbitals, and then release photons of light as they drop back down to lower energy state orbitals.
So you got that question wrong then?

39 correct. Great quiz. Good variety of topics 👏👏👏
35. Was not expecting so much history and specific dates. 56 and haven’t seen a classroom in decades. I would say a high score here means you had a great interest in world history when younger and still have a good memory. Not so much on the IQ. But everyone pretty much knows that
I am also 56 and answered 35 correctly. I did guess at a few, but mostly educated guesses. I missed 2 or 3 I should have gotten right so it equals in the end. I grew up in the country, even though I am not Amish I basically have an eighth grade education.

An IQ is what you know about general knowledge in a large number of areas. They take several hours to complete. I have done 3 such tests in my life time. When I was 9, 25 and 29. Good for you.
I'm 89 and I scored 41 but that's because I received a real education instead of the feel-good stuff that schools serve today.
What is the feel-good stuff? I have grandchildren in school, when my granddaughter was in 4th grade she was loaded down with so much homework, that she basically got off the bus, had a snack started homework stopped to have dinner, back to homework until her mom came to pick her up at 8 pm. She had 3 different classrooms, not counting PE., they said it was preparation for middle school which started in 7th grade. Every state and school is different, you have no idea what children are actually going through. These kids have so many books in their book bags that it is giving them back problems. There is no feel-good stuff, don't believe all you hear from the repubs, they have no idea what schools are actually teaching, in fact, the high school in my area has really good elective courses for the Juniors and Seniors, not just shop classes, they have lawn mower repair, they have a greenhouse where they learn to run a nursery, a small animal's veterinary course, courses in learning to do hair, home ec is now a culinary course where they learn about the restaurant food industry. These courses are for those who are not looking to go into higher education so that they can have a trade when they leave high school. So you have no idea what goes on in any of the schools today.
the gop have purposely destroyed public schools to justify privatization..
@@Violet316 It is the range and depth that is frequently not studied anymore. Often the curriculum is project- or theme- based rather than academic nowadays: heavy books are not the point! Depends on the school still though. Like the sound of the practical stuff you talk about - useful for kids.

@@jlanderson21257 My test that they gave me in high school that they claimed tested IQ was based on looking at a group of gears and determining the final movement that would be created. Being a girl I was not supposed to be able to understand it but I got a perfect score on that and the boys were mad at me because I did better than they did. But I adored my dad and always followed him around and when ever he worked on the car I was right there learning and getting his tools and asking questions. My brother said he would never fix anything that he would hire it done so he refused to quit watching tv and go learn from dad. He never mowed his own grass either, never painted or hung wallpaper when he grew up. I did it all I didn’t want to be a ninny like my mother who was just worried about how she looked but I did her hair and makeup because she didn’t learn that either. I even cut my friends hair in high school. I just liked doing things. I never thought I was that smart I just didn’t like to be doing nothing. A teacher called me a busybody in grade school because I always had to be doing something.
@@jlanderson21257 Yes my teachers worked really hard and they taught so much better than what my granddaughter gets now. In first and second grade she had no text books, no readers and math was 4 little addition problems like 2 +2 and 2 + 1 repeated day after day never progressing to harder. I would have an entire sheet with maybe 25 problems everyday in my math workbook, and we had a hardbound text book too, we had multiple readers. I was taught to read by phonics and they try to hand out a sheet of 100 words at the beginning of the year and they were told learn these and she could read because she would try to read books that didn’t just have those 100 words and she didn’t have the skills to sound out a word. I started homeschooling and I started over and taught her phonics and now she can read but she still lacks confidence. I think they deliberately want dumb American kids who are only interested in sex. They want those books in the schools.

Old adage at work: Always go with your first thought.
yeah 2 times i changed my correct answer
35/50 good quiz questions
I got 37, 70 years old and there big difference between good memory and IQ, I'm just well read especially military history which helps by coincidence social history.
49 out of 50. It was " operation Overlord" not overload.
I could do that quiz a hundred times and not get that score it was operation overload for me i bet your a pub quizzer
I have a brain filled with useless information@@wayneparkinson4558
Scored 44/50 correctly. I am 71. Excellent quiz covering wide range of subjects. Thank you for the intellectual stimulation
Great job!
Scored 41...😢 and aged 67... now I'll list all my excuses... naah! can't be bothered! just like school...😂😂😂
Haha very good 👍🏻
I lost heart in this test at "Operation Overload". Didn't want to finish after that.
Fun quiz! I'm 61 and got 9 of them wrong. I love learning things from these quizzes🙂
Operation *Overlord* not Overload, good quiz 37/50 , I am pleased with that.
34 was my score, I'm 84. Thanks for the questions, they were fun.
I'm 74 and got 46 but quite a few were just educated guesses! I also agree with others that having a good memory for facts has nothing to do with having a high IQ. What about creative thinkers who can think outside the box? What about inventors who create something amazing. I watched the Beckhams on Netflix and he said he didn't do well in school and wasn't very intelligent. I would disagree completly with that. Just because he is not academically minded doesn't make him unintellient! Look where he is today! I would argue that it takes a certain amount of brains to be as successful as he is. I think we all have something different & gifted in our make up and for him it was football and it took him to the top. It's up to us to find what it is that makes us different. I'm not bragging here honestly, but I am an artist and I read a lot and my interests lie in the Humanities, yet I ended up with a BSc Honours degree! A Science Degree! I still marvel at that as it should have been a BA. Also my degree is the only one that does not require maths which I am hopeless at, as I have Dyscalculia, which is like Dyslexia, only with numbers. I am terrible at maths and get really, ridiculously, confused as I cannot remember the system you need to work out a maths question. Yet I remember words with no problem. Yet people might look down on me and class me as a bit thick when i can't work out the answer to something that might be ridiculously easy to others. We might all have something different and gifted inside us, and it is up to us to work out what that is.
I am 58 and I missed 14, but those were mostly things I had never even heard of.
oh you never heard of them, then it's okay, you didnt really miss them...
@@joejones9520 Oh, don't be sarcastic. Being from another country, there's things I couldn't know, for example Ribena - had to google it afterwards- and some completely unimportant data- it's not the same not knowing the year of the French revolution or the date a certain phone was marketed. I'm 72, had 36 correct answers, what is your score?
@@hrma6313 i saw the first question and realized the whole thing was pointless and wasnt going to determine anyone's GI so i didnt go any further.
Yeah I missed 14 too. Mostly the European history questions. I never studied that.
I missed 10 but they were mostly the modern ones like the dates of mobile phones. Who cares! I felt the British had an advantage here because we are taught so much European history but probably know very little American history. In trying to correct the latter I’ve learnt that there was an English settlement in Jamestown in 1607!
You don't need intelligence to answer these questions, just be well read with a good memory.
Joe biden need to take this test before he takes on another term?
@@wayneparkinson4558 You think Trump would pass? The man who bragged about passing a test to determine if he had brain damage?
This guy still brags about being a billionaire on paper when in fact he was bankrupted in the 80s so how's that work then rags to riches .He must have a brain of some sort for he just realize on Brand trump to monopolise and add value to his portfolio allegedly whilst ducking and diving swerving the law as for taking a test he's got other to do that for him@@Nikki_the_G
i scord 32 out of 50! and discoverd that none of this made me a better person, smarter, or a movie star!
Age 76, 41 correct. Whenever the wife asks, “How in the world did you know that?” I always have one answer, I read a lot.
I guessed on a few, got tripped up with exact dates but managed a 38/50. Thank you, this was fun.
Same here
Also my score.
I must have copied your answers - I got the same score !!! LOL....Like others have pointed out. This isn't really about IQ it's about general knowledge, trivia knowledge, and having a good enough memory TO remember it !
I'm newly age 71- I got 8 wrong and 42 right. Thank you for the challenge.
I got 31 points. Thank you very much for this quiz.
I am 74 years old and my score was 48 out of 50. June 6, 1944 at 6:00 AM was the beginning of the "Second Front" on the European continent, the "turning point" of the war against Germany as part of the Axis powers, during World War II. The "First Front" having occurred in July 1943 with the landing of American troops from the North African Campaign (November 8, 1942 - July 1943) at Palermo, Sicily under the command of Lieutenant General George S. Patton and simultaneously at Gila, Sicily under the command of Major General Omar Bradley. This, the largest armada invasion in world history, code name: Operation Overlord (NOT OverLOAD) with the (North to South) deployment of soldiers landing on Gold and Sword beaches by the British and Austrailian troops under the command of Field Marshal Sir Bernard Montegomery; Juno beach by the Canadian troops; Omaha beach (the most deadly/highest casualties from the most intensive resistance) under the command of Major General Omar Bradley, and Utah beach under the command of Brigadier General Theodore Roosevelt Jr., (son of U. S. President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt) by the American troops. Notably absent was Lieutenant General George S. Patton who was "under house arrest" in Northeast England for a second incident wherein he slapped an enlisted soldier. This monumental plan devised by the Allied High Command after nearly a year of planning, under the direction of General Dwight D. Eisenhower as Supreme Allied Commander and General Walter "Bedell" Smith his Deputy, along with strategists from all the Allied powers. The German forces military commander in chief, Generalfieldmarschall (Field Marshal) Karl Rudolf Gerd von Rundstedt of the Fuhrer's staff, placed the Normandy fortifications under the most capable command of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, nicknamed the Desert Fox for his exploits during the North African Campaign. I would not agree, however, that this quiz would be a measure of an individual's I. Q. Moreover, I would categorize it as a measure of a person's experiences, interest in reading and history, and level of education achieved.
Agree 👍 Good reading habit will pass it all. Would be better if he also ask about Amerigo Vespucci and Colombus 😁
Gosh! Nice to see a few of Australian questions. Good to see a more global quiz
42 correct. Age 78. I would say quite a few of them are thanks to The History Chicks podcasts that I listen to on a regular basis.
I got 53 correct. That is not outstanding but it proves it pays to read. Some I did not actually know, but I was able to correlate the answer with other things I did know.
I don't agree, Uncle Mike. 53 out of 50 is indeed outstanding.
70 and I got 42 correct.
That's good!
I am a British 76-year-old female and I scored 43...not bad for an old girl.
Fancy a night out at the pub quiz this wednesday?
@@IntelligentArtefact Absolutely!
Loved it. It sure awakened my enthusiasm. I had fun, Thank you.
37 correct.
Great!
I'm 58 years old and with a 10th grade education and got 26 right but history was my favorite class..
Thank you very much for the quiz it was fun. it doesn't matter how many we got right or wrong, the act of thinking about the possible answers is "The Benefit".(using our Gray Cells)
Yesss 👍🏻👍🏻
Good because my score was not high!!! And I am not dumb!
That was a good brain twist. Thanks.
