We love our Teemu. When Anaheim came to town the rink would be packed and most of us would be there to cheer him on more than the Jets hahaha.
Not only a tremendously talented hockey player, he was a class act as well. So honored to have seen him play in Anaheim.

Two things here: 1) Happy 50th Birthday Teemu!! Greatest Finnish player ever. Period. 2) Him winning the Cup should be number 1. Best moment of his career. He's played all those years prior to 2007 and FINALLY he got to hoist the Cup after that wonderful Game 5 in that glorious June 2007 day. Ahhh the memories. Someone taken us back. We need it.
He took a physical beating too that year. He had an injury and later stitches on the way to winning that Cup.
I was at that #1 moment game with my dad. Selanne needed a hat trick to break the goals record- didnt think we'd see it that night but he pulled it off! Still my favorite player to this day.
I'll always admire Teemu...the moment he broke Mike Bossy's record...I WAS in the arena when that happened...even as a kid back then you could feel the electricity in the building...an amazing talent he was!

@@andrehall23 , HELL yeah...the memories of Winnipeg Arena will stay with me all my life. Just makes me sad to drive by where it once stood and see it gone...and also the stadium gone too. All memories now, gonna see those areas when I visit the 'Peg for holidays at the end of this month from the west coast.

Such a shame this video lasted for 6 minutes instead of two hours.
This man was my childhood hero, a gentleman player, record breaker, and an all around likable guy. He got me into ice hockey, and I played until a little past Highschool. I even wrote to him as a kid and got a signed picture of him in his short stint with San Jose.

Was at the last game of the 2012 regular season between the Ducks and Flames in Calgary and everyone was talking about how we could be witnessing his last... went on to play two more years. What a legend. One that I’m definitely happy to have seen live

The guy had so much intuition on positioning. Was always in the right place at the right time and you couldn't give him an inch or he'd overtake you in a heartbeat. Amazing player, amazing guy too. He was my childhood hero and couldn't have asked for a better one. I remember I always tried to be like him on the ice. I'd lift my arms in the air just like him when I'd score a goal. Always fought for that #8 jersey every season haha. So glad he got the cup too

Growing up, Teemu was one of my top 5 favorites. He was so electrifying and incredibly classy as well. Even though I hate the Ducks, I was so happy when he won the Cup in '07. A terrific career. It's also funny how he scored both 500 and 600 against my Avs!

How did the Jets exchange Selanne... and the 2001 Ducks? I admit he has a strange carreer... 76 goals in rookie season, then 25(???)... 16 goals, 16 assist in 78 games with the Avalanches..., goes to San Jose, then coming back to almost 50 goals with the Ducks. Very different teams and situations, don't need to say. Sad Kariya did not win that cup with him.
Selänne had back to back 50 goal season when he returned back to anaheim
It's all about who you play with as well. 76 goal season was his only year with Housley as a set up D man,& teams didn't know who he was yet. Year two no Housley and a sliced Achilles tendon after 51 games. 16 goal season he was finished with bad knees. Lockout saved his career.
he had injuries before coming back to anaheim. he was like a shadow of what he used to be when he played for colorado and 2004 world cup of hockey. then came the lockout and he had time to heal himself.. and the rest is history
@@Actionronnie He also wasn't as fast of a skater after that year two injury, but since it's Teukka he just went from Ludicrous speed to Ridiculous speed.
