  • it’s so precious to witness the little ones learn how to giggle! I also noticed that Wes likes to shake and nod his head often in response to questions as if he understands what’s being said. he’s done it a few times in vlogs and it’s precious! I’d also like to note that your natural hair is incredible!!🥰

  • I'm from Ukraine and I've been with Colleen on this journey since the start of her pregnancy. I watched every vlog, I listened to every podcast. Then February 24th and the invasion happenned and it fealt like my life was paused. My husband is suddenly at war, I'm suddenly not at home, there are explosions, feels like it's a dream. I couldn't watch a single vlog. And today I finally clicked to see a video from Colleen again. Honestly, it feels surreal. The twins look completely different, they can hold their heads right now! Colleen looks more fresh. It's like I was taken away from this timeline and dropped back a month later, only to realize others have been living their lives peacefully. And I'm sorry if it sounds wrong, but I'm so jealous you have your husband at home. We never separated with mine for more than a week, and now after a month and not knowing how much longer, not knowing if I ever going to see him again, this feels surreal. Like there's fog in my head. Feels like what Colleen described with the twins in the NICU, but I don't know when this will be over, and if it ever will. Edit: I'm crying from all the supportive comments ♥️ Thank you so much, I did not expect this comment to get this much attention and love and support! I am in a relatively safe place right now, and I don't want to leave Ukraine. I don't know how you can help us directly, but you can help the Ukrainian army and refugees through Come Back Alive fund (comebackalive.in.ua). I moved to my parents' house, and I am lucky to have a house where I can live and my work is remote. But there are many people left without homes. I just want my husband to return home safely, this is all I can think about right now.

  • Oh Colleen. It’s why taking maternity leave is so important for moms and should be something that is available more to moms. I know you love your career and your career is very unique - but you should be allowed a grace period to adjust to the new changes in your life. I don’t think the advice you gave was bad, I think it was very real and a struggle so many moms both in the “entertainment”/creative field and just being in a “regular” career face. ❤️

    • she obviously does what she wants and doesnt feel THAT burdened by her job as an entrepreneur to quit. and frankly its clear that performing brings her a lot of joy since we've been in a pandemic for so long and she couldnt perform. i dont think she views the vlogs or podcast as work even though it technically is work bc she says she has fun doing them and theyre even therapeutic. therefore i would imagine that in her mind she hasnt technically worked in a long time, aside from the occasional live streamed shows.

    • @@sup.im.angelina theres optimism and then theres reality. this is her reality. doing both can do more harm than good to many women. nobody should be overworking themselves. and what she said at the end was even more evident. dads arent typically asked where are the kids. nobody is wondering about working dads. they arent expected to do it all. and this whole moms can do it all, seems to only hurt moms.

  • I think one thing to remember about a lot of working moms is that when their babies are new they are usually on maternity leave. And then when they go back to work their baby probably goes to daycare of some sort. You didn't take maternity leave and kept working with brand new babies and that might be why it feels almost impossible for you to work with new babies

    @LizzyHertlein@LizzyHertlein2 жыл бұрын
    • Agreed! Plus, if someone goes on maternity leave, they probably have a team that will cover for them while they're out and Colleen doesn't totally have that. No one can be miranda without her, at least not in terms of filmed content.

If Colleen says it feels near impossible to have kids and work from home, making her own schedule and have a stable home with a supportive husband… it must have been hell for my mom. My mom had 3 babies, including me, an addict and disappearing husband who eventually left for good, 2-3 jobs at a time and no money. I also totally agree about working even though it’s hard when trying to be the best parent. For me, I need to work. I need to financially as the primary breadwinner, but I also need to for my sanity and happiness. I can give my daughter the best version of myself when I feel fulfilled. She has posted KZhead videos of her daily life for over 20 years, she isn’t going to just stop because she had children. She has always documented her life, and there should be no shame in showing motherhood. I think it’s strange you’re assuming a sexual or obsessive view of her children. I enjoy watching Colleen and her marriage, as it is a good example.. and I enjoy watching other KZheadrs. So why shouldn’t I admire and praise motherhood? I believe it’s exploitation when it’s like the Labrant family. Their children have social media from the day they’re born, and they base their channel around their children and growing family. They also sugar coat parenthood. I find there is a key difference.

I mean, you’ll have new worries and challenges, but once your kids are more independent, and on a typical sleep schedule (like sleeping a night and being up during the day), will be a game changer. It’s very hard when they are little, but it will get better. I even went back to school as a single mom when my kids were little and they came to my graduation, which was so cool. They were so excited and I felt like WE did it. My kids could play for a good chunk of time by themselves ever though they both have ADHD. So, don’t let your now discourage you from your tomorrow.

  • I think you said it perfectly when you said “I don’t know how to do work I want to do and be the best mom I want to be.” Its more about how you define being the best mom and how you define who you are away from being a mom. Which for you is doing a job you love. I hear from so many moms like, oh I got so lost in being a mom, I forgot to take time for myself. I think its important to define these things for yourself. Especially when the societal expectation is when a person become a mom. Their identity is just being a mom, just caring for the kids and the home and their husband. Careers? Thats mans work.

  • I remember when I started 5th grade my math teacher went on a maternity leave (and she had twins too!) and I honestly thought I'll never see her again because we had a new teacher for the next 3 years. However she came back when I was in 8th grade and I was so happy and proud to see her again! Some women come back to work a year after having kids, some need more time than that and some become stay at home moms. It all depends on what your current living situation is, the type of job you work and well... you. If you feel ready to go back to work at any point that's great and if you decide to become a stay at home mom that's great too! There's no right or wrong choice, only what works the best for you and your family

  • I love what you said there!! Part of being the best mom ever is not giving up the things YOU love to do. 🙌🏼 Too many women feel pressure to do this whether it’s leaving a job they like OR not going to the gym/book club/girls night outs that they have always loved and looked forward to. I think it’s so important to make time for yourself (because you will obviously be happier for it) but also because it shows your kids how to manage time and responsibilities while still having a good time overall 🙌🏼 it also shows that it’s okay to value yourself!!

  • As a young artist I once had the motherhood conversation with an older mentor who told me to “get all my big writing done before kids”. And that really upset me. Why should women be forced to be done excellence in their 30s!? After a lot of reflecting, I want to say to artists out there (including you, Colleen)…LIFE IS LONG. Maybe this chapter is called toddler and twins but six years from now when those babies are in grade one, maybe the 40s are about writing the masterpiece, or staring in that film. No disrespect to you Colleen, you are IN IT, girl, and also you acknowledge it’s complicated..But the message to young artists to be maybe done once there are kids is something we as women have to actively reject.

My partner and I never plan on children and recently he decided to have the snip. Honestly it's like a new man came he from the Doctors. All this stress and anxiety we didn't even know he carried was lifted and the worst part was when it was healing and got super itchy. • Fun baby fact I learned today: starting at 6 months, babies can recognize “good” vs “bad” behavior. There was a study were they showed a doll acting out morally good behavior (being nice and things) vs another doll doing morally wrong things (being mean to other dolls or something) and then the babies were then offered the dolls, and a lot of the kids choose the “nice” doll

It's not true but my ex would constantly have people demean him by saying things like .. " oh isn't that nice , giving your wife a break from the kids. Like he only had them because I couldn't take it anymore . The truth is there are stereotypes for both parents but we tend to only notice the comments directed at ourselves and miss when the other parent is being dissed.
