Uncombable Hair Syndrome and Other Rare Genetic Conditions

These are rare medical conditions. In 2017, Jackson, Hunter and Caden Howard were born with a rare genetic disorder called craniosynostosis, which isn't unusual for newborns, but it’s very uncommon in triplets. In 2021, 14-month-old Locklan Sample was born with a rare genetic condition called uncombable hair syndrome. In 2018, Mui Thomas shared her story about living with harlequin ichthyosis. Inside Edition Digital’s Andrea Swindall has more.

  • I was born with something called mirror movements disorder. Which means my hands involuntarily do the same thing. It's less than one in a million and I'd love to meet someone else who has it one day

  • I was born with a form of icthyosis too; lamellar icthyosis to be specific. You can't even really tell I have it anymore as I have the mildest case they'd ever seen when I was born.

I have a Chronicle desease too and my Mum helps me a Lot witch Things i cant do im 30 and she is still with me at every important doctors appointment and Sometimes at normal doctors appointment too

  • There's so many unexplainable conditions out there... I'm suffering from a neurological condition where I feel like I'm constantly rocking on a boat 24/7 every second... It's depressing and early on thought about ending life... Wish there was a cure

  • The lady with Epidermolysis bullosa is lucky, to be able to shower. I worked with plenty of little children who have it. They had to be wrapped in sterile gauze. My heart hurts for them.

  • I saw a pic of my maternal grandpa, and noticed his hair looked like mine! Mom and my Aunt tell me that he always looked liked that, no matter what he did. I can't keep my hair looking brushed/combed, they also told me that I have his hair too!!!

  • I Carrey my lil bro with cp ,he's 90 lbs ,I'm 6'4 170, with terrible back.i got him on my back and walked up a creek to a waterfall and it blew his mind .I was juss glad to make it back lol but I love doing things like that and just being around him is like he glows lol

  • I'm just going to put this out there as a black woman before any other ignorant person comes along as says that uncomable hair syndrome is just a white person with black hair type, it is NOT just like black hair. Comparing the two is not only disrespectful to black hair but to the people with uncomable hair syndrome. Their experience is not the same as black people's, black people's experience is not the same as theirs. That's why it's called uncomable hair syndrome and not "a white person with black type hair that doesn't know how to take care of it". Not everything is about us, we do have to insert ourselves with the slightest things that resemble us. Thank you.
