  • In my opinion, Omni is probably the most underrated book in the Book of Mormon. It has an entire saga written by Amaleki that is just barely touched on. Omni himself is also very interesting

  • It makes me wonder why we never hear about the spiritual gifts in detail in the church. Especially speaking in tongues. I attended one fast and testimony meeting that was so filled with the spirit of God because everyone was sharing the miracles they were experiencing. I’ve never been to this powerful of a sacrament meeting before or sadly- since. I think our church would go to a whole new level if our sacrament meetings were about sharing the gifts of the Spirit.

    • You don’t? I hear about them all the time at church. Especially the gift of tongues. They aren’t the subject of every lesson but they come up regularly in sacrament and lessons. Not to mention constantly during my own personal studies. Remember, this is a home centered church, if you feel you are missing out on an important aspect in the gospel, make it a center of the “home” portion of your church participation.

    • Perhaps but no way to really know. If Abinadi was the son of Abinadom and the brother of Amalaki, he would be about 72 when he prophecies to King Noah (depending on how old he was when he left Zarahemla.)

    • Good theory. Or the father of Alma the Elder. Alma establishes a church and then later, his son Alma would be entrusted with all the plates. The plates stay in the prophetic line.

  • Amaleki certainly was NOT a northern European man, as the thumbnail pic shows. I really hope LDS art catches up to the fact that Nephites and Lamanites were Native Americans, with dark skin and dark brown-to-black hair. Amaleki was a righteous man and great missionary of Christ.
