  • My first thought was that it was going to be those orange oil protesters or the free Palestine marchers, both of whom care about themselves most, and neither of whom care about scaring the horses or the inappropriateness of the venue. I’m glad it’s actually going to be a memorial about real heroes who must always be remembered.

Even now, even though he got out of the military in 1984 and learned Russian in 1972, he can still speak, read, and write cyrillic!! And he can say hello, how are you, I am fine, good bye, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in 14 different languages on top of the 3 he can speak fluently. Pretty amazing, isn't it? • As a UK officer myself... I really don't have a problem with anyone filming me. I've been in the newspaper TWICE way before I even joined the job, so it's really not an issue. Sticking a camera right in someone's face is a bit different. I've also never understood the point of "auditing" the police.... what are you aiming to achieve other than provoking officers into possibly incorrectly using legislation or powers, or for the sake of it? You want to audit the police... you want to stand outside a police station, filming police vehicles driving into and out of the station, and filming officers in uniform that would be seen out on the street in uniform... just seems a rather odd practise and I don't understand who "watches it" and thinks it's a neccessary thing. Why do the public NEED to see officers in their police vehicles driving into and driving out of the station? Furthermore any member of the public can easily see this themselves as every police station where I serve is right in a town or city centre, not on some deserted country lane in the middle of nowhere. It would be like going into a hospital, watching a doctor discuss with a patient their medical conditions, or watching a surgeon perform an operation in theatre to make sure the "public are geting their money's worth". Get a fair few auditors at the station I work out of, often with drones too. Doesn't bother me - I just ignore them and get on with the day, but I find it a rather odd concept.

  • That horse aggressively rubbing on that young girl was a super cringy moment for real horse savy people. I seen the stern, intense look on the guard too. Although everyone thought it was a cute funny moment. If you really know & understand horses, it was anything but that... I seen a horse with a bit on, not even as aggressive as this one on this horse, sling it's head & ripped open a young girl's face. She had 3 plastic surgeries after the initial 100 stitches, pain & psychological stuff that went along with it. If that had been my daughter or grand daughter I'd have immediately stopped that.... I've been around horses all my life. Done all kinds of different equine disciplines. Horses are very dangerous, if nothing else, their size alone makes them dangerous. People that know very little about horses should never be around them. Period.

    • He wasn’t being “aggressive”. He was just scratching. He had no intention to cause harm. And accidents like you talk about happen…….anyone with a brain can see that a horse has a large head and if it hits you it’ll hurt. Also the bit isn’t “aggressive” either. You cant tell anything about it from the cheek pieces. You seem very fond of calling things that aren’t, aggressive. Yes horses can be dangerous but so can anything, including crossing the road, or driving a car. And you’re not the only one who has horse experience, but I’ll bet very few of those who do saw that interaction in quite such alarmist terms as you.
