  • i will never forget the day i met Chester. i was at jimmy kimmel live before the show and they were rehearsing for a performance. a friend's father of mine worked for the show. i got to meet Mike, Chester and Steve Aoki. when Chester greeted my friend and I, he was the warmest person ever, so kind and clearly wanted to hear what we had to say. we told him he was a huge inspiration to us and he asked us what our favorite album was. when my friend said Minutes to Midnight, Chester replied with "good choice" and gave him a high five to fist bump. When I said my favorite was A Thousand Suns he looked at me with shock and said, "no way, thank you" and gave me high five to hug. I couldn't believe it. Easily one of the best days of my life. It also showed me that he appreciated the fact that some people loved an album that most thought was bad. I know before his passing that he really wanted people to love One More Light, and it made me sad that so many people said it was awful. Chester really poured his heart into everything he made and I wish I had the chance to tell him I loved that album too. RIP Chester. really cant believe it's been 3 years since his passing.

Linkin Park is a legendary band because they didn’t conform to the machine. Their music will last indefinitely! And so will Chester’s amazing vocals. Rock on my friends!

  • This documentary was genius. It showed the fun side of creating music but it also showed the stress and the pressure to conform to what other people want. Linkin Park has always been a revolutionary band because of the fact that they refused to follow the crowd. They are an inspiration to so many people around the world and have give a voice for those who can't find the words to express their feelings. Linkin Park was changed the world, and no matter what they decide to do next, I will support them.

    • Very well put. I disliked most songs on it on the first time listening (except Waiting for the end, Robot Boy and The Messenger), because I didn‘t get it and I expected something differently. It took me a little, to get into awesome songs like Wretches and Kings. I think they should have put this documentary out a little earlier that people can better understand the musical changes, as it guides the listener through the album instead of being slapped in the face by such a different sound. You can still see „old“ Linkin Park in this, it’s far from pop or selling out.

  • Longtime fan here since 2000. Chester's little "Rick Rubin" take on the deadline at 27:00 was profoundly accurate. You may have a label backing you and your crew, but if they are unable to comprehend what they even want out of what sounds your crew is capable of cooking up and how to ask you to even make a good or bad track, it's up to you to spit on your hands, hoist the black flag and commence to ripping through sound after sound, note after note. And bring down upon them a fire to the ears they've never heard before, and demand that they know who you are and what makes your sound your own. LP forever.

  • Honestly what really makes me respect more about ATS and this whole album cycle was the fact they showed the rather "crude" and negative happenings that were going on while making the album. Some bands will sweep all this stuff under the rug but LP had the balls to share the process with us, and I think, along with what Chester said at the end, it turned out for the better at the end.

It seems like there was a time when they didn't know how to talk about their concerns and it would lead to chaos and unproductive conversations, but now everyone is saying stuff like "I feel" and "I understood ____" or "I misunderstood." Good, healthy communication.

Albums seemed weird in the beginning that later became classics despite how challenging they were at first, no one really takes risks like that anymore. It’s a shame. The man just knows exactly what he wants to do, needs to do, and how to do it, even when no one else gets it, and he is constantly focused on how the process and the art blend to make stuff happen. All the work he's been doing this last 9 months has just shown on another level how incredible he is.

  • People love to talk about how LP changed. LP never changed. Listen up, from day one to the last song on their latest album, they have kept the soul of LP. Go ahead and listem to their lyrics from every album, listen to the power and emotion in the instrumentals they produce. It's whole heartedly LP. I love Hybrid Theory and Meteora. But Minutes To Midnight was it for me. There will never be another album from anyone as perfect as MtM. ATS is marred as the album that softened LP, but to me its the album that taught them to follow the music, not the charts and not the demands. The first time I heard The Catalyst, I knew this album would have some songs I'd listen to for the rest of my life. Deviation is seen as heresy, stagnation is seen as death. There is no middle ground and there is no appeasement. You can't please everyone. Chester confirmed my suspicions at the end of this. LP is no ones puppet and they shouldn't dance, even if the beat is funky. Keep rocking, keep vibing. Happy Holidays.

    @GoldQuestionBlock@GoldQuestionBlockАй бұрын
  • A Thousand Suns was your 'second' Hybrid Theory, for me. An album which seemed to be a symptom of a different time in your lives (and this reflected the change in time in my own life). Mature, thoughtful, experimental - aggressive and gritty when it needed to be; and polished and hook-ful at the same time). Was inspiring to see how politics and world-views could be channeled through sounds like that too. The abstract cover art also perfectly reflected the allusiveness of the album's different components - and I remember the joy of being a 21 year old watching the the Thousand Suns making-of DVD, and it giving me echos of what it was like to be a 12-year old watching 'Frat Party [...]' back in the Hybrid days.

This album in particular is unique because it is their only concept album. To this day, I'm still not sure exactly what it means, as their music is up for interpretation. The clips in this video helps my interpretation more than listening to the songs do for me personally. My best guess is that it is a political album about the Vietnam War, but I'm still unsure.

  • I remember watching an illegally uploaded version of this documentary, on KZhead back in 2011 on my 1st gen iPad. I remember being blown away by the creative process, and the visual style of this documentary. To this day, I maintain that ATS was their most ambitious, creatively challenging albums, and underrated album. It's great that it's now made feely available to the public, after all this years.
