This is the first of several videos that I'll be uploading in the coming weeks from my most recent trip to Disneyland, on February 4-5 2024. It was a wonderful time, and in this video I filmed the newly enhanced and improved Adventureland Treehouse. Opened in November 2023, this is a new version of Walt Disney's original Swiss Family Treehouse (1962-1999), which then became Tarzan's Treehouse (1999-2021). Although I grew up going after the Tarzan conversion, I always loved watching the Swiss Family Treehouse on video, whether it be the still existing versions in Florida, Tokyo, and Paris, or the Disneyland version before 1999. At Disneyland in 1962, Walt's early Imagineers did a wonderful job integrating it into the end of Adventureland as a wonderful transition from Frontierland (Later New Orleans Square) into the dense Jungle housing this unique tree as well as the Jungle Cruise (Tiki Room would join them a year later and Indiana Jones in 1995). Out front was a Waterwheel using the same mold as the new one, and radiating from the top of the tree was the amazingly catchy Swissapolka tune. In my opinion, these are the two best parts of the original version. It is absolutely amazing that they have both been replicated here for the Adventureland Treehouse, and I applaud the Imagineers for these amazing decisions. Even more amazingly in the modern era, this is now an extremely rare example of Imagineering creating a new attraction that is not based on a preexisting Intellectual Property. While it is technically inspired by Swiss Family Robinson, the new version is actually inhabited by a unique family created specifically for this attraction. This is by far the newest in the very long line of wonderful Disney attractions not based on IP. Unlike the Tarzan version which used static figures of the characters to try to tell a story, this version also harkens back to the original in that aside from some nice animal animatronics, no humans are present, allowing for more realistic suspension of disbelief that the family is out on an adventure, instead of frozen in front of us. And although Tarzan used the opposite direction path as the original Swiss Family, Adventureland Treehouse goes in the same direction as the original. The journey starts by going past the waterwheel into the Fathers kitchen. Here there are several kinetic wheels, and a recreation of the Swiss Family's stove. Next to that is animatronic Jane the Ostrich, and nearby is the art gallery. Then we climb a set of stairs to the Mothers Loft. Here is a kinetic Band Organ which plays the main version of Swissapolka. It is a similar re-orchestra of the original. Also here is a great view of the surrounding area. The Daughter is an astronomer and member of SEA (Society of Explorers & Adventurers). This organization connects this attraction to Jungle Cruise, Tokyo Tower of Tower, and Hong Kong Mystic Manor. In her room is a telescope, a colorful lamp, & astronomical charts. The last room is the Twins Roost. Here another Swissapolka plays from a Gramophone, while animatronic animals play and dance to the tune. Then we head back down the stairs and the video ends. In my opinion, this is my favorite Disneyland project in a while. It turned out amazing. I hope you enjoy it!
I do not own any music used in this video. All music is owned by Disney. Videos taken by me, feel free to use them in your own content if you wish.

  • How sad that this is the most exciting thing Disney has done this year other than Electrical Sky Parade
