@@aidenemerson670 of course we don't know everything behind the scenes but apparently Disney wasn't as strict as many people thought. They actually thought Sora in Smash was good opportunity because of course money.
Sakurai is a GigaChad in my book. He created Kirby, directed the greatest crossover in gaming and decided to make a KZhead channel dedicated to giving young devs some tips.

You know, having smash characters in a Mario party type competition(s) actually sounds like a lot of fun! I’m sure a lot of people here would love to play that sort of game, though only if the magic conch from SpongeBob is okay with it!
If we never get another Smash Game, this might be a good thing to introduce during an update for Ultimate.

Sakurai is a treasure he has brought us so much, and I am happy for all he has done. The day he says I am done well be a sad one. Now some fans complain about the things he does like the Smash Fighters he picks, which is sad as they can not see that no matter who he got. They only see that who they want is not in, not seeing the work he does. That he respected them, be it Minecraft Steve or Sora he did all of them good. Smash Bros is his baby, along with Kirby and they are his to do as he wants.
