Utility needs to remain utility, not a fan of just picking the best remaining player. The stellar players who lack the star power but are indispensable by playing almost all positions deserve recognition.
Especially bc we are moving more towards that model

I agree. Utility should shine a light on the people who are true utility in the sense that they commonly play 2+ positions. Maybe even have to have played a 3rd one

Mason Miller is the obvious pick for a hypothetical AL Reliever award. Look at these stats: -0.14 FIP, 18.9 K/9 (28 Ks in 13.1 IP), .428 OPS, 0.9 WAR. Dude is a monster.

As a long-time JM fan, and avid Mariners fan, you can tell the Ms are a faraway afterthought in the vast majority of opportunities to highlight them. Throwing out Rojas entirely from 3B? Complete disregard for Gilbert? If Plouffe isn't in the video I just assume the Mariners aren't really going to be discussed. I love Rojas but I understand his perceived irrelevance. Gilbert should have had at least a paragraph of dialogue though lol

The reason Shota is so far behind ranger is that he had a 4 IP 40 pitch outing shortened by rain. He was dominating. That, plus one more start is at least 7 IP that makes up most of the 12 inning gap between ranger and Shota. Not skill, just bad luck. He doesn’t have issues with going deep into game
Jimmy falling in love with quality at-bats for evaluating players. Ive fell in love with walk rates, I want to see guys get on. Does make it hard to be an Orioles fan since theyre dead last in that stat, but the winning helps.

One day later and the best NL pitcher is obviously Shota. Also, it would be nice if you would do just the bare minimum research. Because if you did you would know that Shota had an outing cut short by a long rain delay. A start btw where he was dominating the Dodgers. In starts where it was not cut short outside of his control, he has averaged 6 1/3 innings. So he is going plenty deep into games. Check that east coast bias of yours every once in a while.
Shota’s been fantastic, but he still pitched 4 innings in that game. Even if he goes complete game, which isn’t happening, he’s at 3/4 the innings Suarez has. That’s a big deal when their stats just aren’t that far apart otherwise
