Its about the process and the skill you develop after years of being a mechanic and not just a parts changer. Theirs also the pleasure that comes with working on a quality machine and putting it right again. If you are like me you go to sleep thinking about a problem and wake up with a solution .Its going to be beautiful car and I'm sure you enjoy it. Yes it will likely never be 100% done, but that's OK. Thanks for sharing the journey with us. I recently purchased a 2005 Highlander Limited with with only 100K miles and excellent maintenance records. It is easy for me to work on and very sturdy, as well as a pleasure to drive. I plan to keep it stock as much as possible. I found a 2007 in the salvage yard that had a front-end collision. The interior/exterior was same colors. I harvested a wheel borrow of parts of of it and they are bagged and marked on a special shelf in my basement. I hope to have it through 400K.

  • Your LS430 is looking great, even without a full paint job! I am wondering if you can remove the trunk weatherseal and grind/file down the "lip/pinchweld" that the seal is pressed onto so that the trunklid will fit more flush with the top of rear fender? This would be a whole lot easier than placing a 2X4 in the fender channel and wailing on it! Of course, if the new trunk hinge solves the problem, you are home free.

I sold that on, bought a 2007 LS460L for $8,500, sank about $20,000 in repairs into it over the course of 4 years but I drive that thing EVERYWHERE. So I understand why you are doing this. The other day, I had my Mom in the 2007 LS460, I wasn’t paying much attention and drove over a parking block with the right front tire, it didn’t do any real damage, but I was mad for about 2 seconds and got over it, if I had done that on my 2017 I would still be mad! Haha my 2007 isn’t perfect, but I certainly love driving it.

  • AMD use Goop hand cleaner on that stain.. works amazing... Also for stains on interior.. 1 table spoon to half gallon of water.. I been doing that since the 70's

  • It's not about the cost if you love it. It's a beautiful restoration ........... one that could only be accomplished by a master mechanic who admires the pinnacle of LEXUS engineering and craftmanship. I've been to JAPAN many times and, I too, admire their attention to detail, customer satisfaction, and meticulous pursuit of perfection.

    • That's correct. Interstate batteries are all made by one of those three, depending upon the size and type of battery.

  • I’m in agreement. If there is a car that you have always loved and has been part of the family, then cost doesn’t count. It is the love and memories that the car has brought to you. I always enjoy your videos and learn ways to maintain my cars. Thank you for taking your time to make them and sharing your knowledge with us.
