Here one thing you can try doing with ai block Put a offensive block and defensive block. Make the decoy orbit around the enemy at 800m or 2000 meter. When locked by a grid with weapon, make it flee out of the lock range. It will go back once the lock lost. Put enough of them and I think you can make weapon go crazy

The only issue is that if the enemy locks your main ship, their turrets wont shoot the decoy torpedos. The decoy block got nerfed heavily after warfare 2

But if your enemy is utilizing drones, a Decoy Torpedo would be an excellent Attack Drone Distraction.

but this gives me an idea, mix the decoys with explosives as a sort of cluster bomb, hell you could make a big torpedo spread out the smaller torpedoes that then spread out the decoys and warheads

Idea: make a carrier, that has cheap but deadly fighter drones with decoys so that they tank all the damage, but they deal damage too, and because they are cheap to produce, they are expendable and the mothership can fire at the enemy, while the enemy is busy with the fighters. The fighters will blow up fast, but at least they are a very good multi role distraction that can distract and destroy at the same time

Use decoy and warheads in the same the automatic ship weapons try to hit the decoys while the warheads have enought time to hit the enemy. I use something similar with sensor, battery, warhead, timer, Fusionblock, and the decoys are set up with fusion and decoys made a dreadnought pilot cry after the hits xD was enought to blast his main Hydrogen tanks xD

I never thought of decoys like that. I use warheads for mine. Its a replica of iron man's Jericho missile.

Build 2 variants. One is the release and one that extends pistons with the decoys on the end while it spins. Weapons will try to lead the decoys only to miss more often. Use the release decoys for the escape. More spread out means it's taking more time to target you. Use the extended decoys for the attack. Will last longer but will keep all the shooting in one place, stay out of the firing line and attack enemies' weapons from a distance before closing in.

I was incredibly inspired by this video to create similar designs and have made mostly successful compact torpedos that use the rotary decoy fundementals. The biggest problem im having is, obviously, with printing these, especially because no mod exists on console that will allow printers to print subgrid. I have engineered work around in theory, but to do so and stay vanilla is unfortunately mind numbingly aggrivating, to say the least. 😭

@@MrBulldog855 Short answer: NO Long answer: YES & NO The best and only way that I found that could be described as a decoy printer without subgrids is to build a large grid variant. I know this isn't the answer u might want but a few tips I would suggest to u to ease ur pain is to forget about using rotors and instead have an overridden gyro to save space, have an AI block and set it to orbit ur enemies so they swarm instead of flying out of the battlefield, and if you didn't care if ur in survival have a welder attached so when they are shot they self-repair.

*centripetal, notice how the blocks fly straight after they're dropped. This doesn't really seem like a great idea considering the blocks will fly out of the 800m turret range almost immediately, not to mention their ships will also be constantly moving. Just soup up drones you can deploy or add them to the hull of your ship that can survive with damage

It does work effectively well as long as dispersion happens with in 400 meters as even with the RPM on these things at 60 only produce about 40m/s max speed upon release of the merge block.

From what I've seen turrets prioritize targeting decoys before anything else even with target locks. Tho you can test to find out.
