  • I hope this unattributed quote is not real, but i know it might be, Of course Kyiv has to continue its war on Russian energy production. There are other things that Kyiv might focus on if it had been given promised munitions, but it wasn't and it can't. If Washington wants Kyiv to lessen its attacks on oil, the first thing would be to make the inadequate, lousy Western oil and gas embargo really hurt Russia. Washington should place secondary sanctions on India, South Africa and China, then demand that European scofflaws (Hungary and whoever else) get in line. That might require that the US experience some economic pain, and i ca attest the risk in an election year. But Washington has not done any of the things it can still do, and we Americans are absolutely negligent in every aspect of providing Ukraine what they need. We have not basis to say or demand anything. We are not even a partner in this war right now. Speaking as an American, it is time for Washington to put up or shut up.

I don't buy it. Not that Biden wants to emulate any more of Trump's ways but he bullied $3.8B for 40 miles of border wall (SOMEbody got a backhander!) by declaring an emergency. Here we have a real emergency, and reportedly they are still trying to micromanage a defense they're not even still drip-feeding?! OK oil prices are a too-big deal to the average American, and Ukraine's doom is nearly assured if Trump wins [the electoral college] but still...
