Enjoy it Bruce lee fans and friends!
Kurata San should be honored by Chinese Cinema too. A legend in my opinion. He not only did martial art movies, but non martial movies. He played a Japanese General in the movie Last Tycoon with Chow Yun Fat. He speaks fluent Cantonese. He is a regular in Hong Kong Movies.
Yasuaki Kurate was 1 of the very few Japanese actors from Bruce Lee's time. He seemed very proud of being Japanese which is a good emotion to have 🙏
‘Hello,I’m Bruce Lee’.Brilliant.Yusaki Kurata has a very impressive martial arts record.Black belts in Karate,Judo and Aikido.Always remember his fight with Samo Hung in TWINKLE,TWINKLE,LUCKY STARS,when Samo fights him using tennis rackets.A top martial artist, who held Bruce Lee in the highest respect👍
Yasuaki is no joke. Heavyweight action man in the seventies. Best kicks in the business. He did "Kung Fu--The Invisible fist" where he played "The Hungry Tiger" in that 17 minute battle with Chen Zing at the end. If he and Lee had done a film ? Unbelievable. This man was that good.
Fist of Legend... His fight with Jet Li was a thing of beauty.
Raise your consciousness and no one can touch you, fighting is for animals, true martial arts is a spiritual journey ... I learned this from Master Kurata 💝💝💝🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
Kurata had the best and beautiful side kick back then. We love to imitate him in sparring.
Im saying it first. Happy 75th Birthday today . March 20, 1946 , Mr. Kurata. You continue to be one of the premiere martial artists of our time. The man was unbelievable in his day and Bruce knew it.
If Kurata says that Bruce was the real deal then that is enough for me.
i agree
Because Kurata himself is a real deal
Kurata himself is sure a real legend. Watched just about every films he was in back in the 1970s when I was a rotten teenager. Saw some of his recent KZhead, still looking excellent with his grey hair. Aged gracefully! Never tired of watching him. 👍👍👍
As a martial arts practitioner myself I truly respect this kurata guy. He's been in films I was amazed to see!
You shook hands with a legend
This dude is one of the greats. Other than the fight scene of Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris, Kurata's fight scenes against Chen Sing in "The Bloody Fist" and "The Rage of Wind" were the best. One of my all time faves!!!
My favorite is the one with Jet Li in Fist of Legend - in itself a Martial Art Choreography Masterpiece.
@@MarcusYangNilsson, his sarcastic attitude really suited him, and the way he mourns his diseased fellow martial artist("...a great loss..."). Acting outside fighting was a 10/10 for me.
When I saw Kurata with Jet Li, I was amazed about him. He doesn't criticized nobody. I really respect this guy.
most Japanese won't criticize others, it's cultural.
Uncle Tony some are mean to the chinese
There's a terrible past there, but I don't think you'll find that's the case anymore.
Uncle Tony my country isnt any better
which one's that?
Your end card blocks the translation so we can't see what he is saying at the end.
NO ( MARTIAL ARTIST☯️ . ) HAS EVER BEEN SO REMEMBER , THAN ( BRUCE LEE ) !!!!!! . . THAT YEARS LATER , IS STILL REMEMBERED .!!!!!!!! . 👍🙏🏾☯️🙏🏾!!!!!!!!! .
Kurata San. My bow to you. You are also a legend. The two he was fight in the beginning, Ti Lung and David Jiang. Those two were also very established HK martial art actors. Makes me really miss the old days.
Yasuaki is a true legend! I loved him in Shaolin Challenges Ninja with Gordon Liu. His crab style was masterful! He looks great at that age.
My favourits aktor. Mr Yasuaki Kurata
My Idol then and still now.
I respect Mr Kurata very much, every since I first saw him in "Heroes of the East" aka "Challenge of the Ninja", "Shaolin vs Ninja". You can tell that he is a highly trained martial artist.
I was expecting him to say that when he met Bruce Lee he asked, "Where is the third leg?" That would have been funny. I think Bruce would have laughed too. :P
This man was no joke. Mr. Kurata did a film in 1969 called "Kung fu the invisible fist". Excellent use of the tonfa weapons. Good looking. Precise. Unbelievable kicks. He was the villain and he was rough. He was very good in his day. I watched that film repeatedly through the seventies. Man... he was good. Im not that surprised Lee didn't work with him.
Of course Bruce Lee was the real deal.
I have seen movie of kurata with chansing no doubt he is a great master
kurata yasuaki était un très bon acteur et un excellent karatéka
One good thing about Japanese is that they always find the truth by observing very little thing. Just like he said about BL's griping.
+Black Star +Black Star Yes definitely. They are truthseekers by nature.
Marten GO they kind of fell for fascism
@@Reprodestruxion At that point in time fascism was compelled for japan to survive. Or it would've have been colonised and trampled with like other asian countries. Look at india after brits did their thing, now India still barely recovering with millions of poverty stricken citizens though it was once considered one of the richest country in world history.
Kurata Yasuaki 🇯🇵
Good Interview
I'm here because I saw God of War. He was so cool in that movie
samurais is my favouriteovie from his movies
When Lee was in Japan, he was actually looking for him to appear in Game of Death as the Karate/Judo master in the Pagoda 1st Level. But Sonny Chiba was cast instead. Unfortunately none of it would happen as Lee halt filming to make Enter the Dragon died before he can complete the movie.
Man, how I wish I could have had my hand squeezed by Bruce Lee. Great upload.
GOOD TO KNOW...
Kurata should've been cast as a chief villain in fist of fury and fight with bruce lee instead of the over guy.
Im sorry but that would have been a risk. Lee knew Kurata's work. He reminded Lee too much of himself. Can't have your villians too good looking. The only thing Kurata was soft on was his physique. He looked soft. Lee was an ice sculpture.
Yasuaki Sen is one of the greatest as bruce
No doubt about it.
WOW! I always knew him as Shoji Karada. He and Chen Xing made some movies.
Indeed, Joey!!!!
anthony pathfinder I remember their Tough Guys movies. They also switched roles ( good and bad guy ).
a great japanese actor that always work does job in city hongkong
Wow great upload.
💯👍
It was a bit of a shame that despite their friendship, Grandmaster Bruce Lee did not cast him in a role in his film. Kurata-san would have been a great main villain in either Fist of Fury or any of the films.
Lee te rompía los huesos de la mano con una sonrisa al saludar jajaja
Kurata played a villain in the movie He who shines in the darkness, it is part of the Garo tokusatsu franchise. He bitch slaps the three main characters aboard a elevated train the fight scene is found on You Tube if anyone wishes to see it It is worth the watch
Kurata could fight.
Kurata from the 2002 martial arts action movie, Samourais.
If I could sit down & thank Mr. Kurate for entertaining fans 👏 like myself threw out the yrs! I've ask him about 1 martial art I NEVER 👀 ANYONE ELSE DO BUT, HIM DO The Japanese Crab 🦀 style! He use it on Gordon Liu in" Shaolin VS Ninja" Is it real? Does he still practice it? I thought it was 1 of the coolest 😎 & unique fighting styles I ever 👀 on 🎥
since when was Yasuaki Kurata given the English name "David" - I've NEVER heard of that before, and I've been a Kurata fan since the 1970s!
Lol, back when I was a kid in the 80s he was billed as Shoji Karada in theaters. Never heard him called David though. The only Davids I know who were associated with Kung fu movies back then were David Chang and David Carradine.
Mr yusuaki,, the words of English are foggy Sir please can you make it clear,, I really will like to know what is Mr yasuaki is saying please 🙏🙏💝🇺🇸🇱🇷 thank you so much sir
yep this dude a mean fighter
Not only Bruce had three legs, he had six arms too.
0:15 What's "Fist of fist"?
He is known as shoji Karada in the Philippines.
Shoji Karada(a.k.a. Yusuaki Kurada), Sonny Chiba, Toshiro Mifune, Sho Kosugi and Henry Sanada(a.k.a. Hiroyuki Sanada) were the most recognized Japanese actors in Southeast Asia back in the 70s and 80s due to their roles during the Kung Fu/Karate/Ninja craze back then. I remember there were rumors back then that Kurata was declared persona non grata in Japan because he kept portraying Japanese villains who kept getting beaten up by Chinese heroes in Hong Kong movies and this supposedly gave Japanese martial artists a bad name back in the 80s. Dunno if this was true though.
Pero no hay nadie q le haga sombra a bruce lee
James Wan please get Sensei Kurata to play Kenshin in the upcoming MK film. Thank you. Aarif Rahman to play Liu Kang and Phillip Ng or Andy On as Kung Lao.
your ad covered the last thing he said.
I don't remember commenting this...or having watched this. Who are you who calls yourself Uncle Tony and uses my profile pic?
It's you, you moron! Like you said, you prolly just don't remember.
Those freaking Vic Moore and Chuck Norris, who do not respect a dead man. Japanese vs. American Ego.
damn you Marten, why the FUCK did you block that last translation.
Robert Chen was Unicorn Chan ?
what movies of his would anyone reccommend?
randell h fist of legend and Shaolin vs ninja
sleepingtiger80 i actually have both lol.
randell h cool
"Legend of a Fighter" with Beardy and Kurata is a good movie.
Very late, but watch Bloodfight 1989. Underrated as hell
you dont see the third leg. hehe
I think guys like YK talk about Bruce when asked because they just want to be immortalized on video or film. :) Think of some complementary things to say about Bruce. Truths. Half truths. Stories they can't prove was fact. Etc. All the while every time some martial arts or film celeb that talks about Bruce gets free publicity and helps keep the "man the myth" alive decades later.
Can't see what is saying.
Dragon got old.......
Men have three legs
What Bruce was only 5'6???
Brandon Lee also said his father was 5 foot 7 which is only an inch different.
He might have looked 5ft 6 to him but unless he got the tape measure out don't take it literally. He was 5ft7inch.
Great video!!! Thanks for sharing. Btw, I am shooting to be the FASTEST ever with nunchaku. Still working on it. Please watch,my latest video,"BRUCE LEE STYLE NUNCHAKU". I hope you will enjoy it. Thanks, maurice
