You are the only reactor I watch that is doing this show. I’m so happy. I never read the comic but the characters showed up in the Doom Patrol in one episode. I’ve been waiting several years for them to have a show. I was not disappointed.
Love Doom Patrol. The whole universe is something special.
When Edwin hesitated to let Crystal join, part of it probably has to do with him generally not trusting humans and being overall cautious and sensible. But I also think that a big part of it is him being jealous because Charles seems to like her. It became really obvious to me when Edwin jumped through the mirror to get the girl's shoes in an uncharacteristically careless manner, burning his hand with iron in the process. He was clearly trying to show off in front of Charles ("See, Charles, Crystal is not the only one who can do cool things around here")
Yes, Mikel-Claire is picking up on something. Mary Ann was a common derogatory term for a young gay man at the time when Edwin was alive. But I hadn't noticed that when the two boys are disguised, Edwin adopts a female persona.

Yes, it's set in the Sandman universe (multiverse?). Death was again played by the sublime Kirby Howell-Baptiste and the diagram on the wall in the underworld offices at the end showed the same design as Hell in The Sandman series. I don't know the original comics so I'm along for the ride and can't wait to see if there are any more crossover cameos.

Crystal Palace is a neighbourhood in South London (very nice park, used to have The Crystal Palace, a giant glass house that housed the Great Exhibition of 1850-51 in Hyde Park then moved to South London in 1852 and the neighbourhood took on the name).

I love this series so much! I'm so happy y'all are watching this! If you like this show I cannot recommend Good Omens enough. It's written by Neal Gamen and Terry Pratchett and has David Tennant, Michael Sheen and Jon Hamm. I think both of y'all would love it. I look forward to watching this with y'all!
Good Omens would be the perfect follow up show to this for them to watch.

I'm so glad you guys are reacting to this! I'm loving it so far. I've been craving a new paranormal detective show for a while now. The witch was giving me life. The demon possession as a metaphor for a toxic relationship is also interesting. I can't wait for the next video!

Love that you guys are reacting to this series. I'm a bit older than you guys and read the complete graphic novel series of this over 20 years ago. I am a diehard, Neil Gaiman fan. In the graphic novels, the boys were younger, around 11 or 12. No spoilers, but I am picking up a few references from the books.

I wanted to point out that Neil Gaiman didn't write for this show and wrote very little of DBD comics (in this show he only wrote 3 scenes that have characters from Sandman to maintain the consistency in their characteristic. One of those is the scene with Death and the WWI soldier in this ep). He's only an executive producer for this show. Steve Yockey and Beth Schwartz are the showrunners

Yes this show takes place in the same world as The Sandman. So that was the same Death character from Sandman. There is one more character from it that pops up later. I'm not saying when or who it is. I love this show and look forward to your reactions.

True story. The Dead Boy Detectives were actually hired to help the Doom Patrol on the Doom Patrol show (You should watch that) to...... (Spoilers) I didn't know that they were getting a show of their own. Its funny to see that so many people watching stuff that I watched before and reacting to it. If I knew that I could have done so on KZhead I would have. I have watched so many things from almost every country I had to keep a journal to remember the names.

This show was originally gonna be on HBO and tied in to Doom Patrol universe, but HBO sold the rights to Netflix so they have to recast, and decided to tied this into Sandman. Quite fitting since the 2 boys first appearance was in a sandman comic
