  • The little details, like him watching the guy get bitten in the beginning and the girls toy doing a countdown so you know exactly how fast the virus spreads ,which is why he stood close to the edge after getting blood in his mouth, he counted the seconds to be sure he was not contaminated, also why he started counting after he cut the girl arm of. And above all how the virus's weakness is 'weakness' just brilliant. They didn't get the cure, what they got was camouflage, which gave them a chance to actually fight back. Action on action, great development, brilliant performances from the actual people playing zombies-the guy in the lab amazingggg Love this movie

  • Someone probably already mentioned this in the comments. The infected are neither super strong nor super fast, they are just driven to use the maximum capacity of their bodies without any regard for pain or injury or even their own life. Also, the book is GREAT. But this movie only has a passing similarity to it. The book is written more like a documentary patched together after the war with testimony from many different people in many different places, and whatever records the narrator could find. The movie is pretty great though, as far as a cinema experience.

    • WWZ would’ve made a great limited miniseries. The Battle of Yonkers, the Outbreak in South Africa, the Bombing of the mountain bridge in India, the Migration north into Canada are just a few stories that would’ve made great episodes. You even had the Submarine, the planes doing deliveries, the colleges, and the space station were other great moments too. They could’ve easily used each story as an episode or found another way to use the source material. I listen to the audiobook a number of times every year.

      @yourlifeisagreatstory@yourlifeisagreatstoryАй бұрын
    • @@yourlifeisagreatstory Yeah, the book is something entirely different in many ways. It kind of reminds me of the changes going into I Am Legend as well, where the source material was, likewise, an entirely different set of circumstances. • The original 3rd act of this movie was actually Brad Pitt character going to russia after Jerusalem and his wife becoming basically a prostitute to keep her and her children on the ship. Then Matthew Fox character who is seen very briefly as one of the nameless soldiers in the helicopter that saved the family on the rooftop would call Gerry to tell him that his wife is with him now and to stay away. The ending was Gerry going back to the US with the israeli solidier and some russian friends to get his wife back. It was actually all filmed but they did a reshoot.

  • I'd recommend turning on captions so y'all can scream and argue and all that but also get a second chance to catch what you're missing. There were at least a half dozen times in this movie alone where y'all missed something that was pretty obvious because y'all were talking over it. Again I like y'alls channel and will keep watching so don't take it the wrong way, I think that both of y'all are actually pretty smart and intuitive and actually often catch some stuff that no one else does including myself but also sometimes y'all talk over and miss some of fairly obvious dialog or imagery and then it throws off the rest of the reaction

  • I am surprised Ash and Hannah didn't catch the kids toy at the beginning of the movie that was counting down was showing how quickly bitten people turned. Which is again referenced later in the movie when Brad was on the roof counting down and again when he cuts that girls arm. P.S. this is probably one of my favorite zombie movies and just like Train of Busan. I love how they sneaked a weakness of the infected early on with the homeless man, the kid with cancer and then another older man. So intuitive.

  • In case no one pointed it out yet - this is based on a book written by Max Brooks (whose dad is Mel Brooks - yes, that Mel Brooks). He wrote 2 books - starting with the Zombie Survival Guide in 2003 - written as a real-fictional survival guide against the walking corpses. Objectively, most of the advice in it is crap, and Brooks has no clue about guns except what he's seen in movies, but it's an entertaining read. World War Z is written as a series of interviews with survivors, on how the war happened - pretty cool too. Incidentally, the US has a contingency plan for the Zombie Apocalypse - it's called Conplan-8888, and it was written by junior officers as an excercise in writing contingency plans.

    • I don’t know, 28 Days Later easily could be the best zombie film, but this is up there in the top 5 or ten. Hollywood politics messed this movie up. The book was amazing and they used nothing but the name, and the rewriting of the script and changing the direction of the story and reshoots (some of which wasn’t even used) lost the potential of what this could’ve been. However, it’s always on my rewatch list. I highly recommend the audiobook, it has a great cast reading the lines of the characters.

    • This is the most mediocre zombie movie ever made. There is no original ideas in the whole movie; it just takes ideas from other movies and executes them poorly. The only notable quality of this movie is the injustice it does to the book

  • The time line of the movie makes very little sense, but that's because its based on a book which they couldn't figure out how to adapt correctly. In the actual story, there is a 2-3 year period leading up to the mass outbreak. It starts with isolated incidents in third world countries being investigated, then a military effort using special forces to investigate/wipe out any outbreaks, further contamination, some public awareness, a widespread cover story involving some kind of super rabies pandemic, Israel isolating itself with walls, all of the North Korean population simply disappearing, mass outbreaks throughout Asia, infections being spread by the organ transplant black market, people ignoring government quarantine measures and accidentally spreading the infection, development of a rabies vaccine that doesn't help because its not rabies, so on and so forth. This time period ends with a huge "battle" just outside New York City where the U.S. Army basically lures a horde of millions of zombies into a killing ground, then gets wiped out because none of the generals planning the battle can really get their heads around the idea of zombies. Then there is a 10 year period which is the actual "World War Z," in which humanity fights to survive and eventually takes back the planet, more or less. Then that is followed up by another 10 year period where we are basically doing zombie clean up work. The book ends with there still being lots of work to do to find and take out last pockets of zombies and clean up all the damage.
