Try as hard as they like, it will be around forever. Comedy like this is thankfully, Indestructible.
I still think John Cleese is the best living comedian.
Over sensitive about comedy . And commenting to delete. Is rather petty. Suppose they rather have people upset and fueled watching war and politics than laughing and sitcoms from years ago . Thats not the type of world i wish to be in. Love faulty towers.
Lol. Smiles and laughter is ubiversal. Comedy poinnts out issues , brings people together, and thats why its being regulated. I think people miss the point and are offended based on their own prejiduce. There are comedians i like and those i dont, it does not mean i complain or report those i dont like . I try avoid propaganda.
Yay!!!!
"No. No. No. I won't have that. There's a place in Eastbourne ..." Always loved the major.
Totally agree. Fawlty, Sybil, Manuel, Polly, guests like Mrs Richards, the American, the late great Bernard Cribbins spoon salesman were all brilliant but I always adored the Major (Especially as a Cricket fan!) The Major "I knew a woman once. I must have liked her, I took her to see India.......... at the Oval!
@@markguest2687a ha ha ha ha major is brilliant. I would of loving to see a spin off about major and his daily routine and interactions with the good people of Torquay
Took me this long to realise he was also joking about the war to the Germans...
Fawlty Towers one of best comedy's ever done
Sadly they don't make comedy like this anymore. Even today's British comedy is nothing like this.
As an American I find this whole show the funniest. Well done
Thank you
🎉😂🎉🎉😅🎉
The BBC would like to apologise for producing the greatest sitcom ever, and promise to erase it from history at the earliest opportunity.
No doubt THE funniest sitcom ever....they can stop trying to do one nbetter because it can't be bettered. Cleese is the Grand Master of Comedy with his expressions and perfect timing...
Classic comedy like this is dead we’re served up pc crap ,they tried remake Porridge total disaster stars like John Cleese ,Ronnie Barker are in a different league from any of today’s so called comedians .
I would love to stay at a hotel like this as you can almost guarantee that the snowflakes would have left already!
Its scary to think some people seriously don't understand that a lot of the humour was actually poking fun at the ignorant!
Its crazy to think. There was only 12 episodes.
I remember watching it when it originally aired in the 70s. I couldn't believe it when the Faulty Towers sign read "Flowery Twats" at the beginning of one of the episodes. I spat my tea with laughter.
Jim Dandy There’s a scene at the start of an episode where kids are changing the letters on the sign. “Watery Fowls”, “Fatty Owls” etc. Fantastic British comedy. All gone I’m afraid.
We must be twins
🤣"Flowery Twats" and other hilarious variations👍😂
Fawlty Towers
@@salr362 I didn't read this thread until after I posted you always have to read the anagrams on the sign. Ditto favorite "Flowery Twats''😄😸🤓😎✌🏻

Only just watched the 12 episodes they released of this a week ago. It’s absolutely hilarious, seriously timeless and that’s coming from me, born in 1997. Makes me feel sad that they only released 2 seasons. But it was enough to make a mark in the world!
Well done mate, it is just brilliant, a mere 12 episodes but full of laughs. Great to see young people like yourself making these comments.
John Cleese said when they finished filming the last episode, "You can't improve on perfection." He was right.
@@merleboyd9962 and its based on a REAL hotel too.
13 actually

@@JNL68 I've found them! Thank you. when I was working we were shown some of them and they were hilarious
Every episode is like watching a man slowly break down and descend into madness.
Great description 😃
Cleese explained that they didn't do comedy but a "farce". Which increses in intensity and absurdity until it reaches its climax and ends. That's how all episodes are structured. Which is why it is so "fast" and still enjoyable today.
Brilliant! Has TV comedy ever been as good as this before or since? Cleese did for the television series what the Marx Brothers did for film. Superb supporting cast as well.
Absolutely peerless! I cry with laughter every time I watch these shows! As priceless as a Monet or a Vermeer!
Great compilation ... I never realized how well scripted the 'salad cream' scene was .. just another little genius gem, amongst its more celebrated comedic 'jewels' ... We shall not see their likes again ... after all, it's been almost fifty years ...Monumental!
Modern TV is too serious and it seriously lacks comedy. Will any of today's programmes (either on TV or Netflix) be remembered as classics in 20-30 years?
@@stephthestar90 Yes ... and will any of today's pop songs be remembered next month?

Definitely. Hard to choose. But I would say this # 1, Only Fools # 2 and Father Ted #3. For me at least.
The present bbc would never ever produce this show today
The BBC have gone uber-woke.
The best tvseries of all time
The best comedy show ever. I had forgotten about, ' you're looking very cheerful this morning Mr Fawlty - yes, one of the guests has just died' !
My mother and I loved Faulty Towers. Hi from NYC in the US
I served John in a theatre restaurant in 1975 . Mr Cleese , are you eating before the show ? YES ! SOUP AND ANYTHING !
I’ve always believed that off camera things generally went well at Fawlty Towers, like Hyacinth Buckets candlelight suppers
My dad recorded Fawlty Towers when I was a kid , and I watched that vhs over and over again year after year. When I was slightly older I realised that one episode was missing and I seen 11 episodes dozens of times but there was an episode out there that I had never seen. When people always say that they wish there was more episodes of Fawlty Towers , that’s what I had . A brand new episode 🥳🥳
The BBC banned season 1 episode 6 about 18 months ago because the Major Gowen character dared to utter the N word and the left went barmy.
@@richallenxbox1976 that will be the case for people in the future. If they find that episode on dvd it’ll be a brand new episode. In my case my dad recorded them on vcr but missed one - but I didn’t know. Then years later I was watching it on tv and I realised I’d never seen it before !! It was the Waldorf Salad ep 🤣
Aye, same 'ere thanks to the 'old man' (RIP)👍. Couple of 3 Hour vid's (he recorded from BeeB 2 ) with all 12 I rinsed right out + no 'long play' which would be a *DREAM* tbh. 12 hours worth of this! (If only eh ;-) 🔥. (Props Commentaries on DVD too)

Awe, that 1st line from The Major in 'Waldorf Salad' 😁 (Bless him 😳). That, the Bernard Cribbins one (Hotel Inspectors) + The Kipper & The Corpse are personal faves, but then again they ALL are. So many amazing other great characters + cameos in a mere 12 episodes which NEVER tire & Bless ALL who contributed to this entertaining bliss.😍

The invaded Poland line is one of the greatest ever
Not to mention Cleese’s goosestep - it recalls “Ministry of Funny Walks” from Monty Python.
Fawlty Towers was brilliant, but these short clips seen out of context don't do it justice.
Absolutely brilliant 👏!This really made my day!Well done, thanks!🤣👍❤
Back when know one too offence because it's just a comedy! And a bloody good one
John Cleese is " Spitzenklasse"..!! :-) The forgotten approach to comedy. Now its more about the direct attacks from a stand up person. This was far more sophisticated and much more close to life somehow.
How I enjoyed this show in the good old days. Great to be able to see some of them here.
You missed out the bit where Basil shakes his fist at the plant. Cracks me up even after seeing it a hundred times.
I'm not religious, but God bless John Cleese ❤️
