    • I'm sorry this is a pet peeve of mine, but it's SIMOLEONS, not dollars. They're clearly not equivalent to a $ value, of any kind (USD, CAD, AUD..) Because objects such as a single apple costs 3 Simoleons. An apple is never going to be $3 for a single item. Closer to about 48c (USD) for a single apple. Simoleons, the made up currency we use in game, are slightly inflated above dollar value. So for example, the cardboard dancefloor is 50 Simoleons. Using the example of the apple as a measure, this would be equivalent to about $8.30 USD, for the cardboard boxes dancefloor. Of course the Sims catalogue pricing isn't consistent, but it's not "overpriced" as many simmers say, forgetting that the currency isn't just defaulted to USD. The Sims universe has all made-up geography, holidays, terminology, AND currency, etc., so that it's easy to enjoy for people from all cultures across the world. It's purposefully vague and unspecific. It really bothers me how many simtubers have the tendency to say "omg this thing is 300 dollars?" when browsing the game catalogue, instead of saying Simoleons. It's probably just me being weird and I know it's a nitpick, but it's always been something that frustrated me.

      @Lottienn@Lottienn2 жыл бұрын
    • @@Lottienn I put $ because I don't know the symbol for Simoleons. I never said overpriced, I said appropriately. Perhaps that isn't even the correct word but my point was that a pile of cardboard costs the same as a door - which is just odd! I wouldn't care if certain things were more expensive if there was some consistency to how things are priced. Perhaps it is just my western/north american perspective on what things should cost, but I just find it so confusing the way they have priced things and how things have gotten so much cheaper in newer packs for similar items to what already exists.

      @hedgerow.homestead@hedgerow.homestead2 жыл бұрын
    • @@hedgerow.homestead I thought your "clearly priced appropriately" was sarcastic. Anyways, like I said, the pricing of the catalogue IS inconsistent. But the reason is because of community complaints about the catalogue being overpriced. The devs have made newer objects cheaper in response, which has led to overall inconsistent pricing. But yes, this myth of the objects being "overpriced" comes from a very western perspective where many assumed Simoleons should be equal value to USD. It's interesting how nobody seems to make the same comments about the job wages in the game. 28 Simoleons per hour for a Barista? I mean, that's clearly not a USD$ value. That would be more like $12 per hour surely. But yeah, again, inconsistent conversion rates. I think it's just best to accept that Simoleons have their own economic value as a pretend/fake currency. People talking about how expensive/priced objects are in the game has never made sense to me and always bothered me just because to make these comments, we need to assign a real-world currency value as reference and that doesn't work. Don't mind my unnecessarily in-depth rant about Simoleons, like I said just a personal quirk of mine that the discussion around currency in the sims bothers me.

At my job they had some ground that had moved underneath the building, causing a shift in the pressure so several walls ended up getting cracks in them. Even going through the bricks, much like how Simsie placed them in the video.

More free things yes, but free things that can be used, now that is what we need. As for the dollar, there is the wish tree in the trees category in build buy mode.

  • 1:20 Actually Trash Shoots are free, question is - are showerheads cheaper (they aren't - 300$ is the least amount, but you probably could cut on other items to find that extra 180$)? They definitely need less work when playing, cause hygiene from sinks takes soo long. 2:50 Putting glassroof helps with underwhelming lighting. 3:20 Well, you could technically use debug lightboxes, which are also free. 9:05 Nice you found it. 10:55 To be fair you could cover those roofs with debug walls and bricks. 11:20 This also works. I think glass roofs would look ok as well (the proper wall would stay, with glass becoming artistic details), grass and the solar panel roofs probably would also look ok. And if you have any money left a window, can be used on those as well. 13:40 I searched for some other tricks - I wonder why Get Together Bonfires don't allow cooking like other ones - major oversight tbh, especially as they are super cheap (95$). But to be fair a lone fridge allows for you to have salads, microwaves are cheaper than ovens and I believe you can also cook in ovens some stuff without a fridge? From other stuff - you probably could have used a single glass roof and put doors directly on that. You can get very natural shapes this way and much more light on it. The only downside is that one part of the room isn't as accessible. Either a one part roof or a curved two-sided one would work the best. This would save you the wall cost you used under doors. Which is extra 70$ + cost of the wallpaper.

  • Simsie: We need shelter from the elements right? Penny (My Humble Rags To Riches Sim) : Oh that's cute . . . I have a tarp, a cot, a fridge and a snapdragon that i planted after stealing one from my neighbors garden. Don't worry. The snapdragon rewards your theft with 25 simoleons every other day though . . . unless you have seasons in which best use that phone to work in a career that I'm totally qualified for. (I'm just memeing lol)

  • I once built an off-grid house without any walls at all for under 1,800. It's in the style of an Andersen shelter, so I just put two rounded roofs next to each other and put a door right in the side of the roof. The interior is a bit grim tbf but I love it anyway and I think I did some cool stuff with the exterior, using debug tyres as planters and stuff.

  • I LOVE that you can build a house with just a roof. I totally went and tried this, and you don't need to put a wall in order to have the door. It goes on the roof wall just fine. Mine is an off-the-grid bunker with a grass roof. I love it. Came here to post a screenshot, but I don't think I can.

  • Without CC, all you really need for a single adult sim: bed (as couch and dining chair), one unused counter top (put dishwasher underneath), stove, fridge, toilet, University backless shower (can be placed in front of toilet), wall mounted TV/Stereo/Bookshelf opposite of bed, recycling trash can. THAT'S IT! Sinks are unnecessary!
