    • Get Florida to enforced boating regulations and stop all the selfish dumbasses from running them over. Locals are the worst, especially tour operators who let tourists harass them. Then enforce environmental regulations that fight pollution in the rivers, and stop developers from destroying fragile habitat. Few, if any, of these solutions will be enforced if Republicans remain in power in Florida.

    • It's happened to me 3 times. Twice in the gulf near Ozello, FL and once in a creek south of Bayport, FL. They're almost impossible to see when they're feeding on the bottom and the sun is reflecting off of the water. It's very easy to surprise them, and they immediately power up that huge fan-shaped tail, and too bad if you're in the way! The one on the creek had the front end of my kayak several inches out of the water, but it was only for a second, and if you don't panic, it's fine.

After I saw the baby, I took my head out of the water to tell my husband and the mama swam up to me one final time and "kissed" me on the cheek. Then swam away. My husband got that part in video. • I remember being on a RV park in Florida that had a river with a damn/lock and a bunch of manatees would just hang around it. We saw them playing in the distance but didn't think much of it until I got bored and decided to get in the river shore and try to catch small fish with my hands. I was just minding my bussiness until I saw this massive thing emerge from the murky water like a whale! I jumped back super scared thinking it was a gator but when I took a closer look it was this curios little manatee that saw me splashing the water and decided to take a look. It was an amazing experience but man it spooked me for the rest of the day cause I was not expecting this massive thing to reach the shallow shore and move surprisingly fast. My heart was racing and legs where shaking as if I got out of a roller coaster lol

    • @@ladyofnoxus6733 look, the one who definitely doesn't understand evolution is you, because of your ridiculous comment, I bet you're Brazilian, and if so, how come you talk about evolution, if you Brazilians haven't evolved their minds themselves, they don't follow people from the rest of the world and this comment of yours completely Ridiculous and totally out of context, is one more proof of that, anyway it's very sad to see people like that, bitter and unloved and completely backwards in the 21st century. They gained so much from being silent and quiet, but no, they always have the habit of being smarter than others and correcting them and then giving answers like this. Look at what Brazilians are doing to the Amazon, look at the 70,000 homicides that exist annually in Brazil, you are living proof that evolution is delayed and did not work with the Brazilian people. • Gentle giants who, too often, are victims of speef boats, etc. They are wonderful, curious creatures. The pod I saw...every single one had scars, some looked barely survivable from encounters with speed boats. Sad!

    • I L O V E manatees. The first time I saw them, I thought how ungaingly they lookef but they are very, very graceful. The sad thing about the little pod of these creatures, e v e r y one of them bore scars, some of them looked barely survivable from encounters with speed boats. So sad.
