There is a panel depicting the crossing of the English Channel by the Norman troops where the horses are getting off the boat.. • I could definitely see echoes of Monty python in the Coronation, but at the same time in a world gone completely nuts there is something incredibly reassuring about seeing the continuation of tradition and people coming together in patriotism and respect for the monarchy. I’m not a fan of the cynical, mocking left and they seem to get nastier with every year that goes by, so if I’m going to choose between them and the nice friendly people cheering on King Charles, I’ll choose the nice, friendly people any day.

  • The ending to Holy Grail always felt particularly nostalgic for me - I used to do medieval re-enactment. And one time, during the re-enactment of the Battle of Tewkesbury... someone got an arrow in the eye. Next thing you know, gliding through the cannon smoke and past the men in armour, across the battlefield, a modern ambulance appears, loads up the wounded individual, drives off. Battle resumes. Years later I saw Holy Grail, and my thought was not "that's very silly and out of place" - my thought was "That's weirdly authentic."

Monthy Python, Fawlty Towers, and their films were very popular here in Holland in the '70/80s and after, everybody loved them..! (the ones who could handle it, cause Holland still had a lot of strict Christians) And thank God we had VPRO tv on sunday, they were very controversial and left wing. Here on YT you can still watch some great music, human interest docs, or humor from VPRO. Like 'Stranger In A Strange Land' with Nick Cave and bandmembers in Berlin in '87 where they lived at the time. Or VPRO's 'Onrust' which was about fresh music scenes from that period, enz. ☮💥
