  • My mother is African American & my papa is Puerto Rican & Cuban. I was born speaking Spanish and it was my first language. When my parents split up I lost my native tongue of course but I’m slowly but surely learning as I go. I’m always around my tía and abuelito to learn the slang terms. It makes me more comfortable.   • I’m so glad I got to learn spanish at my high school. I speak fluent Arabic and english and I was able to pick up Spanish so easily. I don’t know why. I struggle with French but for some reason Spanish comes easy

    • I think that is because you’ll be able to understand 70% of spanish words if you know Arabic and English. So then you’d have to just work on the verbs and greetings. Along with accent. No wonder it was easy for you

    • I'm from Philippines and i can't understand Spanish, Tagalog is closely related to Javanese-Tegal, Native Taiwanese languages and other eastern Indonesian languages, Tagalog is an Austronesian language that originated in ancient China and Taiwan, but i can understand some of Spanish words in Tagalog.

    • I was just thinking about it last night. I've been speaking English my whole life. I'd consider myself better at the language than most people with a high school education. I read a lot and even write poems and Short stories. I still find myself learning new words all of the time. Because we've done it our whole life it's never felt Like we put much work into learning our native language but we've invested a lifetime into learning it. Learning just one language is a lot of work. Two seems like a super power to me. I'm here because I work at a Mexican restaurant and want to communicate better with my fellow employees.
